basser89
Finally landed my first largemouth of the year (posted a thread in the tournament/outing page)! I'm so pumped now! Besides today, I've only managed a couple dink smallies here and there on the upper Potonac. Has anyone else made it out lately?
Super User BrianinMD Posted March 20, 2009 Super User Share Posted March 20, 2009 no.... was hoping to get out today but wife had some car issues and got tied up doing some other husband duties while out..... Hoping to head out next wednesday, don't have to work and supposed to be nice out. brian_82
Anyone planning to head out this weekend? I was debating with myself to go or not. Anyone starting to have any luck anywhere? Last question, has anyone ever fished on the potomac around where the c/o meets the potomac near maddicks island or river rd.?
basser89
Can't make it out this weekend. Black Hills is starting to turn on. Last friday I pulled a good one out of there and this friday I caught another one (fishing during lunch time only) on a spinnerbait. Never fished the areas on the Potomac that you're talking about. Good luck this weekend and let us know how you make out!!!!
brian_82
Made it out to a local park pond today. Only managed to catch one 10" dink on a 8" jerk bait. Had to make my way through the mobs of trout fisherman.
fischt197
Loch Raven Fishing Center opens this weekend and the weather looks awesome! I've heard the spinnerbait bite has been on this week so i hoping for some of the same this weekend. I could really use a good 4-5 lber...nothin but dinks and pickerel so far for me in the past couple of weeks. I just finally found a decent topo map of that reservoir so it should help a lot. Does anyone have any advice of where is best on the loch this time of year? Tight lines! Tony
Super User BrianinMD Posted April 2, 2009 Super User Share Posted April 2, 2009 Man, don't want to hear about the forecast coming up.... won't be able to get out for awhile, have to finish up some projects at the house (laminate flooring, pulling up all the carpet) the room I am working on now has to get done this weekend because we got friends coming next weekend and need the space. No fishing this weekend or next......

No fishing this weekend or next...... Well I shouldn't tell ya Brian that I hit "the canal" this evening. Managed one largemouth about a pound and a half (MAYBE 2lbs) on a spinnerbait. I saw two other bass holding along the shore. The one was about the same size as the one I caught and the other was about a pound larger. I was throwing plastics most of the evening but had no takers there. :-?
Super User Munkin Posted April 5, 2009 Super User Share Posted April 5, 2009 22" 5-9lb from Greenbrier last Sunday. Allen
basser89
What? No picture Allen? That's a good one for sure! What's your biggest out of Greenbrier? I've seen survey reports of 7 and 8 pounders in there but haven't had any success finding the big ones in there yet. Caught a 19 1/2" 4lb 4oz largemouth at Black Hills in the drizzle yesterday at lunch. I backed it up with 2 more smaller chunks after work. The spinnerbait bite is turning on there! Can't wait to get my truck back so I can get the boat out!!! I'm itching to hit Big Pool sometime soon!!!!
MDBassman
While, I'm not who's who, my name is Jason and I live in Odenton, MD. I have a 15.5' square stern canoe I use on mainly Rocky Gorge and Triadelphia from time to time. This year hasn't started so good for me as far as bass fishing. The bite has been tough and slow for me so far. I would think the bass are moving up and getting ready to start spawning real soon. I have caught some buck bass but nothing over a couple of pounds thus far. I have been doing a little cat fishing down in the Potomac with some friends and the blue cats can be pretty darn big. I also get offshore to fish about once a month to fish for tuna, mahi mahi, and other assorted good eating fish. Tight Lines MDBassman, MDBuckeye, Jason... zwhitey
been fishing Black hills, cunningham, and the up here and there. Catching fish just nothing to brag about so far. I hope to get the boat out on the river here the next couple days with spriong break and all. This past weekend my brother and I fished the Wicomico river in salisbury and had a decent trip. It was quite windy but we managed two three pounders and a mess of 12-15 inchers along with some hefty crappies and a chain pickeral. brian_82
Anyone made any recent trips to Tridelphia? Was wondering how things were going up there. I might head there sunday.
bunkerbstr
I have a good friend that lives in Laurel and fishes Tridelphia and Rocky Gorge quite a bit. Water temps are in the mid 50's around the middle section. Tridelphia is still pretty low and a tough bite. Rocky Gorge has been kicking out some really good fish (Stripers and Largemouth) so far this year. A lot less fishing pressure on Rocky Gorge and IMO better overall fishing. We plan on getting out on Rocky Gorge this weekend, not sure which day, most likely Sunday. Good luck.

Kar
I usually fish at Centennial Park, but occasionally Patapsco River, Lake Elkhorn, and I want to try out Lake Kittamaqundi, Wilde Lake, and Jackson Pond. I fish at Deep Creek during the summer sometimes. Anyone else fish in these places?
fischt197
You may want to try Loch Raven just north of Baltimore. They rent jon boats for about $30 for the day. It really is a great fishery. I would recommend a porable depth finder and a good topo map to really help you out. It's a 2400 acre reservoir with all types of species in there. I live very close to wilde lake and haven't had much luck there...limited access fishing from the bank. I just actually found out that you can fish Lake Kittamaqundi. I've heard there are some good fish in there, and it's like 1 1/2 miles from my home.
Kar
I would like to fish at Loch Raven sometime, but I don't know if I will anytime soon. For now I fish at Centennial a lot. I am not old enough to drive so I go wherever my dad drives me and that is usualy to centennial but Kittamaqundi is closer to my house so we may go there sometime. We don't have a boat though
Kenny83
Hey everyone. New member here. Name is Kenny and I live in Baltimore. Looking to get into some serious fishing this year. I posted a couple questions if any local experienced anglers could give some advice I would appropriate it!
Kar
Hey bunkerbstr Do you know of any good shorefishing spots on rocky gorge? I would like to fish there again. (Me and my dad went there about 2 years ago). Any places with a lot of bass that are accessible by shorefishermen?
Super User BrianinMD Posted May 7, 2009 Super User Share Posted May 7, 2009 Welcome to all the new guys showing up for Maryland, need to check this area more often I missed a few.... After next wednesday I am on vacation for two weeks, hoping to go to Rocky Gorge and Cunningham Falls during this time. I have never been to either one so any thoughts on were to go what may would would be greatly appreciated. I have a 14ft jon so not tied to the bank hopefully that will help. With Rocky Gorge I would imagine there is a permit fee, can you just get them at the ramp?

I'm planning on fishing a good bit then! Cunningham isn't that far from me, depending on what you have planned, if you want a partner, let me know! Not sure yet but I might hit Black Hills some time that week too, but that's still up in the air.
