Why not atleast one of each size?  

I do not like the chatterbait whatsoever, but I can give you some advice.

For deep water use the 1/2 ounce sice.  For shallow water use the 1/4 ounce size. And for the water in between, use the 3/8 ounce size.  

I've used chatterbaits a lot this past season and you can use the 1/2oz chatterbait at all depths.  It's heavy enough to fish it slow and deep, and at the same time, you can fish it fast at a foot under the surface.

Go with the 1/2oz in whatever color you picked.

I agree with Cabela, the 1/2oz. is the most versatile model. But don't overlook the 1/4oz. version, it is really good when you are fishing shallow water and you want a really slow fall.

i prefer the 1/4 ounce personally because I really like the slow fall and because of how the bait works, it gives great vibration and feel even at the smaller size.

I use chatterbaits all the time in all sizes and colors.

They all work for me at one time or another

as an FYI  the 3/8 is the size that made the chatterbait a household name among bassers

I use the 3/8 for all of mine due to the amount of vegetation. Any heavier and they just get bogged down in the grass. 

the Chatterbait is my go to vertical bait. I own all sizes, but 3/8 oz. gets used 99% of the time.

Same here, if I could only have one size, it would be the 3/8 oz.

I use 1/2 only and let trailer type determine the depth/speed I fish them

I typically use a 3/8 oz period. I can adjust retrieve speed or trailer if I want it to ride higher or lower in the water column. Don't use them much beyond 10' deep.

I like 1/2 oz because I can cast it further.

All 3, depends on where when and how. I usually want the lightest one that will get it to where they are at when fished at the speed they want it at. 3/8 is a good place to start if you are looking at just one, but eventually you'll want the others. Stroking a heavy one like a jig/trap/blade works great sometimes, as does fishing a large plastic on a light one on heavy mono, where it almost suspends. I have a love/hate relationship with these contraptions.

3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 are what i own i tend to throw the 3/8 and 1/2 oz most 

The chatterbait has been my best lure since I started using it.  I had my best year with it last year catching my personal best largemouth and smallmouth basses.  It's by far the best lure I've added to my arsenal.

 

I only fish in Iowa/Minnesota/Wisconsin area so it may be different but Blue/Black is the best color for me.  What really makes it work the best is adding a trailer to it like the Yamamoto Swim Senko.

 

I usually use 3/8 and 1/2 ounce sizes.

Most of my success with a chatterbait has been with a 3/8 oz version. 

 

Try one of each size and fish it a variety of ways and load up on the one or ones that feel like they fish the best for your situations.

1/2 ounce is the most versatile and my choice. You can fish it at all depths and slow roll it.

I fish 3/8 95% of the time but started using some 3/4 and 1oz with the magnum blades this past year and had some success. 

I have mostly 1/4 and a few 1/2 ones.  I went lighter on them so I could throw them on lighter tackle, but didn't realize how much resistance the blade caused, the head weight barely matters.  When I run out I think I am going to go all 1/2.  

 

I did impulse buy a 2oz chatterbait the other day, I sometimes bank fish a reservoir with really steep drops, I figured I would try bombing it out and slowly working it back up the bottom.  

95% of the time I’m throwing a 1/2oz model. If I want to keep it up high the water column than I use a big 5”grub or Swimbait for a trailer. If I want to get it down than a finesse worm or a split tail trailer is used on 12# line vs 15# for shallow. Going to try some 3/4 and maybe some 1oz this year. 

I fish1/2oz in deeper water or in the fall, 3/8oz the rest of the time. That said, I don't have a great track record with chatterbaits either (although it seems I got the sizes right)

I fish chatterbaits (Picasso Shock Blade) in depths from 1-8 ft. I use 3/8 oz 100% of the time.

 I use 3/8 at least 80% of the time . . . .
