That is awesome, just about my favorite way to fish.  Sailfish on fly is getting popular,I've yet to do that.

That was pretty awesome. My biggest tarpon was 70 pounds, which is a baby, and it worked my ars.  Couldn't imagine one on a fly rod.

That ~ was Impressive.

That is definitely more than awesome. I have caught tarpon on light weight rods before and that is a serious fight but I can only imagine what it would be like on a fly rod.

I'm in, but from a kayak.

I wanna see that! A big ol' tarpon would tow you and your yak to Cuba. ;D ;D ;D

And back, if you're lucky.

Gary, do some youtube searches of marlin from a kayak.  You'll be impressed. ;)

Can't be any worse than a freaking pontoon, LOL.

You ever see the crazy bastiches that were fishing for coldwater sharks in Alaska from yaks?

At the end, the shark tows the yak while the guy holds the dorsal fin.

No thanks.   ;D

thats impressive for sure.

That video was soo cool they could make stocker trout fishing look exciting! Man I wish we had tarpon in sandiego bay, I have always wanted to catch one.

I can't believe he was standing on that tube..I have the same float tube, and no way would I try that. Also he doesn't use his stripping apron.

As for the vid..the only word I can describe it, would AWESOME!!! Thanks for sharing.. 8-)

right on fourbizz. that was amazing! i am not into fly fishing, but i believe i could give that a go.

The guy in the video is very good, it's all about technique.  In Florida Flip Pallot may be the quintessential expert on fly fishing for big tarpon, Flip is in his late 60's.

I used to enjoy watching Walkers Cay Chronicles with him.  He has landed some nice fish on that show with a fly rod.

Those Tarpon are some intense fish!!!  I can't imagine hooking one of those with a fly rod (well, maybe hooking one-but never landing it).

I wouldn't be so worried about the leeches as the sharks you might run into in those backwaters  :o
