Super User Alpster Posted October 12, 2006 Super User Share Posted October 12, 2006 Fishermans cove marina They also have RV (and tent?) sites for those needing a site instead of a room. There are no tent sites at the marina camping park. Dan (owner) says there are tent sites just down the road. Ronnie

t bend tex
add my wife and I to the list- we have rv spot reserved at Fisherman's cove- exact dates uncertain, but most likely arrive Late sunday pm, leave saturday. someone asked about weather: I live in deep southeast Texas, I would not be surprised at 30* or 90*, 30mph north wind or 5 mph south wind, sun, clouds, fog, rain, - this is a prime season for cool fronts overriding warm air from the Gulf, therefore BE PREPARED For most anything! Super User 5bass Posted October 13, 2006 Super User Share Posted October 13, 2006 I booked a room earlier tonight for the wife and myself....as of 5:30 pm (eastern time) there were only 3 rooms left!I bet those wont last thru the weekend.
nboucher
Just booked a room. There is now one left, as of 10 PM eastern time. Linda at Fisherman's Cove said they'll be happy to recommend nearby places once they're booked up. Riskkid and I will be fishing together, and we've hired a guide named Tim Walker to show us around on Monday. When I called Fisherman's Cove tonight, he happened to be eating dinner at the restaurant, so he came to the phone and we chatted a bit. He offered to set anyone up with guides who wants one. Keithscatch
I would highly recommend Jeff Kirkwood as a guide on the lake. Going with him will teach you a thing or two about the lake and fishing in general. Here is his website: http://www.fishinwithjeff.com/
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 13, 2006 BassResource.com Administrator Share Posted October 13, 2006 Just a note - I know it was mentioned 6 pages ago, but just a reminder that this is NOT a tournament. Just a fun get -together and a chance to meet the fine folks on these forums. The response is outstanding! The wife and I will be there. We'll bring a few rods and a little tackle, but not the boat (too far away). I'm thinking about hiring a guide, but I'd MUCH rather fish with forum members. Perhaps we could split the cost with somebody? This is going to be GREAT!
RiskKid.
A thought for those that will be flying in. If we can arrange to arrive in Dallas around the same time we can car pool and split car rental costs. Perhaps even rent a van if there is enough interest. A little early to figure the logistics of this but I will be happy to coordinate an effort of this nature. Could be two airports involved (DFW and Love Field). Anyone interested? Low_Budget_Hooker
remember that if you are getting a guide to do it in the beginning of the trip so you have that knowledge for the rest of the week. Hopefully we will be pooling our results with the guides with the other members. Also, If you get the guide for day 1, don't begin your boat rental till the day after. Save one days rental because you will be using the guides boat the first day. Glenn-What cost are you looking to split?
Super User flechero Posted October 13, 2006 Super User Share Posted October 13, 2006 Hopefully we will be pooling our results with the guides with the other members. we always carry 2-way radios on a group outings, lots of benefits and fun but mostly to share real time info and patterns with any boat that needs help. I would encourage any of you that have a 2-way (or a couple of them) to bring it (them) so we can do just that... we'll have enough boats that there will be people doing well and not so well. Just a fun get -together and a chance to meet the fine folks on these forums. It's starting to look like we'll have a chance to meet a BUNCH of the members!! I can't wait, this will be a fantastic week!!

Super User Matt Fly Posted October 13, 2006 Super User Share Posted October 13, 2006 As far as lunch breaks goes, theres a resturant located just about anywhere on the lake. Fisherman's Cove is located on the west arm of Fork in Williams Creek arm, last year, we fished the east arm and was about 8 miles by water away from Williams Creek, We were only a 1/2 mile from the BASS Lantern at the Minnow Bucket. So food can be found at numerous sites on the water with docks to tie up to or beaching the boat. If needed, I can bring my two burner coleman Propane for any to use, just ask and its there. Matt. Guest avid
I've been number crunching since the first day of the post. It's killing me, but theres no way I make this trip this year. Too many unbudgeted expenses this year. It really pains me not to be going. This should be such a great event. I will be counting on someone bringing a laptop so us homebodies can get a daily update on the day. I wish you all a safe and successful journey with some fat bassies for all. Avid. Low_Budget_Hooker
I was just getting ready to PM you! That's a drag to hear but next year, hopefully your shoulder will be better prepared for the trip too. % days of nonstop casing may not be so good for you just yet anyway right? Sorry man, that's just a bummer. As to the laptop,.....almost forgot,.....somebody is still gonna have to run the shop and we'll all be down there, lol. I plan on having my laptop along for the ride just so I can constantly download the camera footage. Looks like I should bring the internet card too!! I have a feeling Glenn also has one that is now a permanent appendage, lol. I'm sure he's got some trick travel tools if I know him.
Super User K_Mac Posted October 14, 2006 Super User Share Posted October 14, 2006 I can't tell you all how much I would like to be a part of this, but health and finances will not allow. I sure look forward to hearing about it. Lake Fork may never be the same. A couple of you will need to make sure your passports are current, and some language training may be needed. ;D
