Fish Attractant

Featured Replies

The 2 main ones I have seen are Yum and the Berkely Gulp.  But I am sure just like other things fishing there are tons to choose from.

Do you use fish attractant?

Also do you prefer one over another and why?

If you do use it do you put it on everything you fish or only certain lures?

Fish attractant? no such thing. None of them "attract" fish.

Scent made to apply to your baits, used to cover up any odors or tastes offensive to the fish? you betcha.

Megastrike is all you need to know.

Do you guys use megastrike for any other game fish other than LMB and SMB?

Walleyes, Crappies, Northern Pike, Trouts, etc.

I use JJ's Magic or Megastrike. JJ's last all day long and Megastrike stays on and helps my plastics slip through the hydrilla.

The Berkley GULP is nice.  I like to use it on non scented soft plastics.  Just squirt some in the bag.  Seems to work well for me.

Chompers Garlic.

Some of my stuff still smells from last year!

Like Ghoti said none of them attract bass but I do think it helps in colder water. I use Kicknbass craw on jigs (mostly hare) when the water temp is below 55 degrees. It seems to make them hold on just a second longer so you can feel the bite. Now I use KNB because it was the first scent I found that worked and I am still using the same bottle after 3 years. Most of the time I do not use it because I cannot stand the smell especially garlic.

I use Yum Crawlic.

Does it work?  I used it one day, and caught plenty of fish.  Would I have caught as many or perhaps more without it?  Who knows?

We've all had days when you couldn't buy a bite and days when they jump into the boat.

It could have been a coincidence.  But when a four or five dollar bottle of the stuff lasts a month or longer, why take the chance?

megastrike works awesome for muskies. i fished a lake for 8 years never caught a muskie started using megastrike caught 13 that year and at least 10 per year since. all muskie were caught while bass fishing. caught on senkos, cranks you name it.

1. Edge Hot Sauce Gel: Not sure what it is about this stuff, but when ever I add it to my frog my hook up percent goes way up. I know a few Cali lunker hunters who turned me on to the stuff and swear by it.

2. MegaStrike: Use it on jigs and worms and it seems to work ok. Still waiting for the water to warm up here to give the new formula a good work out.

3. Bass Wax: Fairly new to me, but I did catch a few nice Crappies with it while ice fishing. Time will tell how well it works on Bass.

This past Sunday, my friend and I went out to the local pond.  It was overcast and cool, water temp much better.  We were fishless until I started spraying Gulp onto my baits.  Started getting hits but only two fish made it to the boat.

I would have to say, when fish are inactive for whatever reason, scents can make a difference.

Megastrike

Later, ;)

Megastrike, Berkley Gulp! in crayfish and night crawler.

Just started using Mega Strike this year. First largemouth of the year (today) and a new PB using it! I'm convinced!  ;)

any of you use Carolina Lunker Sauce? if so which flavor?

OMG! That stuff is incredibly stinky! ;D I bought a couple of packs of their DS worms at BPS last year. As soon as I opened the pack, my partner said, " From now on, if you ask me to go fishing, it's either them or me!" One worm stunk up the boat for hours! ;D

Had some luck last year with Dr. Juice's Super Juice for Tournament Bass, never used much other stinkbait, but need to pick up some for this year since mine froze in the garage over winter, then seperated ;)
