  1. Tackle Warehouse, Ebay, Cabelas, Anglers Arsenal and Bass Tackle Depot. I don't use BPS Online anymore. Their shipping is to expensive and they take forever to ship it to you compaired to the ones I already listed. At home I shop at Academy, and a local store R&L Tackle and when I'm close to a BPS I go in.
  2. Getting a guide for one of the days is a huge advantage. I failed to book one last year and I wasted two days trying to figure things out. The guys who got one were the ones you had the most success. This is also a cost that can be split up. Glenn got a guide last year and he caught the biggest fish. Buzzbaitfool12 and clan got one to and they caught the mess out of bass. While most guys were catching 6 or 8 a day they were boating dozens of fish each day. There is a list of guides on our Guntersville trip website. Check them out and give them a call. We have checked all of them out and they are all reputable.
  3. I've been doing some serious research on the lake for that time of year. I have read every fishing report I could find for the last 10 years and I see nothing but good things for that week. 1. Full Moon the Saturday before we get there. 2. The average water temp for the past 10 years has been 60. 3. The fish will bite just about anything. So fish your strengths. 4. There are lots of fish shallow. From what I've read you can expect 10 to 30 fish a day with 1 out of 10 being 5+. The fish will be in a solid prespawn feeding frenzy. You better have a lipless crankbait tied on. Start with a 1/4 oz in craw or shad colors. Lizards and senkos in greens and browns seem to be the mainstay for soft plastics. Jigs in Black and blue are all I read about but it's hard for me to believe that they wouldn't hit a craw colored one either. This is my short list Lipless Cranks Shallow Cranks Spinnerbaits C-Rig and t-Rig lizards Most of the fish should be shallow (less than 6 ft) but the big ones may be staging hard on points and deeper water close to spawning flats.
  4. I'll have my video camera with me. I hope plenty of other guys have theirs to. Everyone better bring a camera. Preferably a digital one so we can load the pictures onto my computer before we leave from the trip. That way when I am putting the video together I will have plenty of stuff to use.
  5. A 6'6" Rod is a good suggestion. I would go with a rod that has a little more backbone than a Med rod. IMO the best start up rod is a Med Heavy with a fast tip. BPS and Cabelas both have some great combo's in that price range. If you are going to order on line use the link from this site. Your purchase will help us pay the bills.
  6. bassnleo, That almost stinks. Mike you might want to get a couple of crawfish colored lipless crankbaits to.
  7. I was at work one weekend in Feb 05. I googled something to do with bass fishing and this site popped up. It was the first bass fishing forum I had ever been so I checked it out and signed up. I quickly got addicted to the place and have been stuck here ever since. I think I was the 365 member to sign up.
  8. My thumbs are so short that I can't grab my pinky fingers with them.
  9. Here is a forum full of guys that fish in your area. It is owned and run by the best guides on Allatoona Lake. It wouldn't hurt to check it out. http://allatoonabass.proboards76.com/index.cgi
  10. Holy Crap!!!!! If I'd had known that my little comment would have started such a chain of events I still would have posted it.
  11. That is cheap. Sure is. So the lifetime license will pay itself off in a little over 8 years. Georgia is a great place to be a sportsman. We have an indivdual say every year at DNR meetings. Giving us the power to accept or reject new regulations by a vote. We have the right to hunt and fish through our state's constitution and laws to protect us from antis. All this and the licenses are still cheep. I love this state.
  12. I'll be getting a lifetime license for Georgia this year. They are $500. That's not bad considering I buy a $60 dollar sportsman's license every year that covers everything fishing and hunting.
  13. It's a good thing. This is the fish telling you that there are other fish there. They are competing for food so they grab it and run to deep water to keep it away from the others.
  14. South Carolina Drivers. > Voted the worst drivers in America by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and I have plenty of proof of that.
  15. There is no reason to be scared of getting kicked off of this site. I can count on one hand how many we have booted in the last two years. Oh and this is also the least visited section on the forum so it sometimes takes a while before you get a response from somebody who is in the know. Be patient it will happen.
  16. You've got to realize that this section for Resumes is not here to get someone a job or a sponsorship. It is used to fine tune a resume, and to get ideas on how to prepare yourself to work in the fishing industry. If you post a resume and it is junk then we don't hold back. But if you take the criticism and use it you will come out better in the end. This is the only section that we alow this kind of criticism.
  17. I think Russ should be Mrs. August. ;D
  18. Ask the manager. The worst thing they can say is no. I have yet to be told no and there are some great fish in those ponds.
  19. If I'm fishing a 1/4oz trap I use a Dobyns Champion 702C. It's a Med Ex-Fast action 7ft rod. If I'm fishing a 1/2oz or larger I go with a Dobyns Champion 703C. Med-Hvy Ex-Fast 7ft rod. They both have great feel and enough backbone to bring it through the weeds and a pricetag of $169.99.
  20. Uh.....That would be a split shot rig. Like Raul said. Everything has its specific purpose. If you don't like tying all those knots then get you some Carolina Keepers. A C-Rig can be the best bait on a tough day. It covers allot of water and it catches tough fish.
  21. This is a football jig head that I can't wait to try out. http://strikezonelure.com/shakey-head.htm
  22. The hard questions: So what sets you apart from every other tournament fisherman who is looking for sponsors? What is your niche? If you don't have one then what do you plan on doing to find it? Will you be able to show your sponsors on paper how much money you have made them in the last year? Can you show proof that you are increasing their bottom line? Things that can set you apart..... Can you organize your own seminar? Can you draw a crowd to those seminars? Can you speak in front of large crowds and communicate clearly? Can you write? Can you get your sponsors product into stores? Can you get the product into the hands of people and change their mind about it? Can you WOW them? See what I'm getting at? Don't just do what everyone else is doing. Don't just offer what everyone else is offering. Make yourself stand above the crowd so you are the one who they see first. Think bigger, better and outside of the box.
