  1. Dude, If you ever need a hunting partner I am there. I won't take up much space on the floor and I can cook.
  2. You mean like this one. ;D
  3. I like that S turn in the West arm. The creek channel will make two drastic turns there and this is a good place for bass to hang out. For lure/rig selection, it sounds like you need to put a little weight on those soft plastics. In those weeds I would fish a light 1/8 or 1/16th oz splitshot rig or mojo rig on 8lb test line. Drag it across the weeds like a C-rig. A couple of small pops of the line will free it from the weeks when it collects some. Concentrate on where the weeds drop into deeper water and whatever edges you see. Catt has written a few good threads on how to flip the weeds with heavy jigs and T-rigged plastics. This will also be a good technique. The timber in the grass is good to. Pitch close to the stumps and let it sit for several seconds. Pay close attention to the color of the weeds. The brighter green the better. If you see that it is turning brown, go find another place.
  4. What's the usual water color? How deep is the lake? (up both arms, and at the dam.)
  5. Are you in a boat? What kind of vegitation if any? What time of year? What are your strengths? What are the primary baitfish for bass?
  6. I wouldn't approach it from that angle. It might hurt a little when I got to the water.
  7. It's not that big of a deal. But it may be caused by a virus. He may have heard some wheezing which is one of the first signs of it. Take it easy for a few days and you should be fine. Do you smoke?
  8. If they did that down south the fishing season would be closed from Febuary thru July. The lakes would quickly become over populated with small bass and that would be a problem. We have gone over this many, many times. The effect that catching spawning bass has on the bass population depends on where in the country you live, clearity of the water, number of bass, and so on. Here in the south it is impossible to have any negative effect on the bass population due to the length of the spawn and the large number of bass. However if you live in the colder states you will find that the spawn is short and the bass aren't on the top of the food chain in your lakes and you can hurt that years hatch by bed fishing.
  9. The numbers are agianst you. The lures you are asking about are very new on the market. They are hard for many people to find. The fishing seasons are winding down and fewer people are on the water to use these new lures. Make sure when you start a thread that you use a good title. It's not a good idea to use the first few words of your first sentance as the title. This is not going to spark someones interest and most people won't even click on your thread. This might help you get more responses to your questions in the future.
  10. I love blade baits. They are great for searching and vertical jigging.
  11. If you consider yourself fairly experienced in bass fishing you should check out my favorite book. Advanced Bass Fishing by John Weiss It is an old book with lots of great stuff for the Advanced Angler. Others in my library are: BASS Ultimate Bass Fishing Library (three of the 17 volume set) Luring Largemouth Bass by Don Oster Knowing Bass (The Scientific Approach to Catching More Fish) by Keith A Jones, PhD Advanced Bass Techniques by Rich Zaleski I just ordered a first edition Buck Perry's Guidelines for Fishing Success. I can't wait to get it in.

Welcome to the best bass fishing website and forums on the net. We are glad to have you with us.
  13. I got this from tnfish.org. It is possible that this condition is genetic, viral, or related to some environmental factor unique to certain bodies of water that stimulates the increased production of melanin. This unusual pigmentation (melanosis) has been observed on bass within most Tennessee reservoirs and in other areas of the country for many years. The Fish Disease Diagnostics Laboratory at Auburn University is currently investigating the cause of hyperpigmented melanosis in Tennessee largemouth bass.
  14. My dad taught me how to trout fish shortly after birth. I was the only flyfisherman I knew of in the north Georgia Mountains for years. Then when I was about 17 I met my best friend Adam (aka Doghouse on this site) He got me started bass fishing and it's been an addiction ever sence.
  15. Off topic replies have been moved to [link=http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196019630]This Thread[/link]
  16. If it was under any other conditions I would be rooting for the Vols, but this was different. The Vols pulled two games in a row out of their arse. That's just sick.
  17. As it gets colder I start to clean and reorganize my tackle and yes I always find those lures I ment to use that I couldn't find during the season. And then there's the winter drawdown. I find alot of "hard to find" lures in trees and rocks that were under the water during the year.
  18. CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. And yes I'm a Georgia fan.
  19. I have and there is no difference between the basstrix and the money minnow except the paint job.
  20. I think he is talking about the Grande Bass Machine. It looks like this.
  21. I know it's not what your looking for but it is still hard to beat the Lew's BB19GS when it comes to deep cranking.
  22. Salt works great but it takes to long to dry. Go to Walmart and get a box of borax. It's in the cleaning section. Take the bone out like Senko said, then mix equal parts salt and borax and rub on the flesh. Put the tail in the ziploc and then fill it half way with mixture and shake it up. It should be dry and preserved within a week or two.
  23. Do a search on ebay for Okuma Inspira IS20. It is the best spinning reel I've used and you can't beat the price for the quality you get in return. http://cgi.ebay.com/Okuma-INSPIRA-20-Front-Drag-Spinning-Reel-IS20-IS-20_W0QQitemZ160155131870QQihZ006QQcategoryZ36147QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
