  1. Deer hunting, not just sitting in a stand but I love to still hunt. I don't shoot untill I sneak within 20 yards.
  2. My Oreo's and Milk don't looks so good anymore. My mouth was watering the whole time while reading this. Thanks Robert.
  3. That's what I thought. The differance is hardly ever felt in a heavy/stiff rod. It's hard to torque a heavy rod. When you get into a thin med or light action rod you will notice a big difference. Take a Med crankbait rod with the standard setup. Put the line throught the guides and then tie it to something heavy. Then lift the rod and get a good bend in it. Put as much stress on it as you dare. Then look at the tip top and you will notice that it and the blank have been torqued to the bottom position. That is where it naturally wants to go. So if you were to adjust the guides to where they are spiral wrapped on the same rod you will feel the difference when it is under stress. It is a better fighting rod when there is no torque. This subject has been covered in detail in this thread http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189818987
  4. Unless the jig has a light wire hook. I say this because I keep hearing a nasty rumor that many of the pros that are fishing jigs have gone to light wire hooks and Med action rods. They do this when they are not fishing heavy cover though. They have found that they loose fewer fish during the fight.
  5. I don't mean any of this as an insult. So please don't take it that way. This way of thinking is typical of someone as young as you are in the sport of bassfishing. This is great. I was the same way when I was a teen and I am sure that many of us were. This way of thinking saved me a bunch of money early on. You can catch alot of fish with just one rod and reel set-up, especially in small ponds with little to no pressure. But you will probably only catch +/- 85% of the bass that accually bite your lures. But when you are fishing large, high pressured lakes presentation and exicution is everything in order to catch 100% of the fish that bite. To get the most out of the presentation and action of the lures you are useing you need to have the right setup. This means the right rod, reel speed, casting distance/ accuracy, line size/type. I can't fish a dropshot on a MH Rod and I can't fish a C-Rig on a dropshot rod and expect to catch 100% of the fish that bite.
  6. Practice with a small bucket or a peice of cardboard with a bullseye painted on it. I cast from my back deck because it is just like being a little higher than the water level in a boat.
  7. I fished out of a 10ft jon when I was first married. It was very easy to haul around by myself. Sell your big one and get a 10ft and you will be happy.
  8. What is the action of the Rod?
  9. They are on sale at BPS website.
  10. Spot Remover all the way baby. I use it with either a Trick Worm or a Finesse worm. I did put an Ol' Monster on one a few months ago and had a great day.
  11. I use mine all the time but I have very clear water. If there is even a little bit of stain on the water you can forget about it.
  12. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0001390010655a&navCount=1&podId=0001390&parentId=cat21324&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21276-cat21324&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21324&hasJS=true This is what I always use. It's very easy and it doesn't require as much heat as those aluminum sticks.
  13. Except at Lake Varner here in GA. That lake has some of the longest bass many of us have ever seen. It is unreal. There's always and exception.
  14. For the past several years I have trained my thumb to cast with my reels set almost on free spool. That was untill I started buying Revo's. This reel is different. It is very easy to backlash if you are used to the minimal break settings like I am. It took me a few days before I understood what was going on. Then I went back to the basics of setting up a reel and found that happy place again and I don't have anymore problems. So read ReelMechanic's post about how to set these things up and you shouldn't have a problem.
  15. I was going to say 4lbs too.
  16. There is a bunch of stuff on sale at BPS. Remember to use the BassResource link to get to thier website. Things on Sale (I only looked for a few minutes.) Gammy- EWG Worm Hooks and Skip Gap hooks.
  17. I saw my wife's uncle's pond do this last year. It was full of catfish. It was a DO issue. We solved it by putting in a floating water fountain.
  18. That's awesome Russ. Great fish.
  19. The last time I checked the fish was already in 100% humidity. I don't think they will notice the difference. Here in GA the average humidity is around 85%.
  20. I have to bend on over and hoist a...
  21. Contact your lacal Wildlife department. They will direct you on how you can get started. If it's against the law then there should be some fish hatcheries somewhere close buy that will be able to stock them for you.
  22. Welcome to the forums. You are exactly right with your thinking. I personally use smaller hooks than the norm. The smaller the hook, the more action you get from the worm. But the greater chance you have to loose the fish. As an example I like useing a #1 offset hook on my light C-Rig trick worms. Most would say I am crazy but I caugh a bass almost 10lbs on it last year.
