  1. Thats one of the things everyone says about Kistler, their cutomer service is great. And when going for a new rod, that is one of the big things I go for, besides weight and sensitivity. As for St. Croix replacing your reel seats :-/, it all depends who you talk to with their Customer Service or who gets the rod when it arrives at the factory. Key word in their and most other rod companies warranty programs are LIMITED.
  2. New 6'9" mh casting carrot stick, some Optimum 4" suspending swim baits, and a ton of GYCB Twin Tail Hula Grubs, in Green Pumpkin, Aquamelon Gold, and Black Blue
  3. Have a brutal tourney or two and I get burnt out, get to the point where I hate fishing and want to take up a new hobby. The 15 minutes later I want to go fishing again, its a vicious cycle.

I'll take 105 over -15 with a windchill ANYDAY! Just a few more years, and I'm out of RI
  5. Muscles and a scraper!
  6. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Ya! Worth every penny. Especially if you are on a new lake or running in a dangerous body of water like the CT River. And it come sin handy when the fog or a storm rolls in. Also if you fish a lot of night tourneys it is a good investment.
  7. lol. I would say Strike King since they started that whole coffee thing. Can't wait to see how it produces. I'm SURE certain pro's (KVD and other Strike King pro's) will catch all their fish on them in the 2008 Classic.
  8. I was fishing one day and out of the blue a 3 and a half pound smallie jumped out of the water and landed on the top of the head of my trolling motor, bounced down onto the gator mount, and then back into the water. I just stood there like so . Craziest thing I have ever seen a smallie do.
  9. Ouch!!!!!!! thats a burn...
  10. Worst part is, seeing as though and will never be taken out, it never has or ever will catch a fish, lol.
  11. 1. If you have to yes, but trolling motor is the best. Time is crucial in a tournament, I personally would rather use my trolling motor if it can do what I need it to do. 2. Once again dont waste time, just snap it unless it is the last one and it is working. And it retrieving a lure you will spook out the spot you are trying to fish and so it will trash your spot for a little while. 3. As I take it, dont just cast to a dock or laydown from straight-on, if their is a fish there, give him a lot of different looks and presentations. Like I said about time, dont waste it, you could be making casts and possibly catching fish.
  12. Teach them to fish... I have to put this in there, at the Alumni Day for the Rhode Island CAST program, I noticed a few of the kids from last year fishing this year, and it was amazing to see how they have really gotten into fishing. I remember one of the kids who was in my boat in 06' had went from a good old zebco push buttom and worms on a bobber to a Quantum Spinning set-up and was firing out an 5" salty stick and catching fish. A couple were between 2-3 pounds in just an hour. Also saw other kids who had learned to fish with spinning rods and artificials. So the kids and parents arent just going out and fishing once a year with the CAST program, it is becomming a weekend thing and they are learning. It was quite the sight to see.
  13. What can brown do for you? ;D That was awsome this morning, a good way to end work. Giving out those checks to two great organizations that change so many lives. Not only can there be another great event in RI but you can start spreading the word and getting more states involved. Do all the New England states have CAST?
  14. Places that are not windy, go to the park and go all the way to the back near Elmwood Ave. and fish the Legendary Polo Pond, Tillinghast Pond in West Greenwich near Vampires Grave, Zeke's/Big River side of Johnsons Pond in Coventry, those would be the ones I recommend.

The dorsal looks like a shark, but the head looks like that of a dolphin. IDK :-? Either way I dont want anything like that near me. I think muddy is on to something though, a little too clear.
  16. Spider jigs are more of a finesse style, then the traditional flippin jig. I started fishing spider jigs and twin tail hula grubs a lot this year and I think for the most part they outfish the skirted jig, but I didnt get as many big fihs than on the skirted jig. :-?
  17. Used to do it all the time when I was younger. We would sink big stumps, or when they would draw the lake down we would make rockwalls and rockpiles. Little did we know it is illegal in the state of RI :. We did most of it in the winter of 02' and in the spring the fish were there and they still are. It is always the first place I hit when I fish that lake. Anyone ever try the PVC Trees?
  18. Ya, its only Flipper! : : lol
  19. Same thing up here, but it goes from 50 and rain and wind, to 30 and snow and wind. Good luck.

I know the leech and minnow thingy's are amazing drop-shot baits for smallies. Had to learn that the hard way by being stubborn and not swithing from the zoom meathead and getting by but whooped. But those are the only 2 things I would purchase from them. Like Bassfishingmachine said, their are better soft plactics out there.
  21. Go to a place where you wont get blown away or go from the bank in a private place. Colder temps are coming soon, if you dont go you might regret it. In the words of a good friend, It only takes one cast.
  22. I always wondered that too, nice input stringjam. It has always been "THE CRANK" of the CT River and Upper Lake Champlain. Learn something new everyday.
  23. So what would you do in a situation like that? Stay on the board and look like pray or get off and swim and look like prey? Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
  24. The boat sounds like a real fixer-upper. I would save and find a 12-14' flat bottom or v-hull, if you want to do the electric only deal. The just put seats on the benches of the boat. I would really recommend AGAINST securing a wheel chair. The recent PVA event will not allow the fisherman/fisherwomen to be secured in their wheelchairs. Instead those fishing are placed into a seat with a life preserver on. In case anything ever happened, instead of possibly drowning because they are secured in their wheelchair, they would float. Much much safer. So all you really need is a boat with two seats This is an amazing thing you guys are doing. Anyone who has an oppurtunity and take in natures beauty with you guys will surely appreciate it. Good Luck
  25. Its a New England thing, or down there it must mean you guys get rain. lol
