Getting another bulldog...
Nope, Old English. The other one I have, Mack is also an Old English. She is about 80 pounds and 5 years old but is the most playfull dog I have ever come across. They get quite big, this is her in about 16" of snow.

Goin fishin...need advice!!
I would have focused on the wind-blown banks with spinnerbaits and lipless cranks as well. Given that it was a neighbor-hood pond and not too big I would not think that points would have mattered. I would have also thrown jigs at any shoreline cover. Despite the cold temps when the sun comes out those fish will get super shallow.

Importance of maintaining same feel?
It's all about your hands. I uise Carrots, Loomis, Castaway, Shimano, All-Star, Kistler, and I still have some Croix's. It is all about feeling and knowing what feels like what.

IGNORANT hunters.
That is pretty much the reason why I choose hockey and skiing over hunting up here. Too many idiots and unfortunatley they are trigger-happy. There is usually a fatality a year in this state where one hunter shoots another, about 50% of the time they have orange on too. A couple years ago a father shot his son that was coming to make sure he was ok because he had been gone all day. The son had orange on as well. The worst part is, there are not enough hunters up here or they are not any good because our state is absolutley infested with deer. You cannot drive anywhere without seeing a dead one on the side or in the road. There are 3-5 in my gf's front yard every morning all really skinny and unhealthy looking. Mind you she lives in a 300 house residential development and less than a half mile from the largest highway in the state. At my parents house (they live on the border of a state park) there are 8-12 there some mornings.

Tubes. Couple questions
When I fished the Weekend Series as a co-angler I out fished a lot of boaters by actually dragging the tube while they were actually hopping it. I would drag it like a c-rig and pop it when it hit something, where as a lot of guys fish it like a t-rig or shakey head. The differences in fish catching are crazy. Just much more realistic when dragged like a c-rig. But sometimes those smallies just dont care and eat it if it comes within 5' of them.

Splitting hairs on line size
I use two Medium action rods, one is a 6'6" fast action and has 10 pound Trilene 100%, I use it for lipless cranks, 1/4oz spinnerbaits, and my big heavy Bagley Balsa B's. The other medium is a extra fast action 7' with 10 pound Trllene 100% which I use exclusivley for Wiggle Warts and crankbaits that dive deeper than 4'. My medium heavy action rods go like this... 6'6" with 65 pound braid for skipping jigs under brush 6'10" with 17 pound Trilene 100% for spinnerbaits and pitching docks 7' with 17 pound Trilene 100% for flukes, paddle-tails, and Scrounger Head 7'3" with 17 pound Trilene 100% for light grassline fishing (texas-rigs and jigs, no senkos) I guess I'm a little technique/bait specific :-[

New for 2009
There were so many new things I loaded the boat with this year. Best was the Aruku Shad (which is just a fish catching machine), I have never had so many 30+ fish days in water under 45 degrees.

Some November Smallies
What section of the river did you fish? I have heard of north of Windson Locks and south of the Oxbow giving up 6+'s and consistant 3-4's. Nice fish for November though...

yamamoto kut tail worms
Weightless or on a 1/8oz weight or lighter they are a great sping bait. But I usually don't work the bait too much.

Crucial dropshot vs Cumara dropshot
No comparison, Cumara is worth every penny. I have heard of numerous people breaking the Crucials on another local message board I belong too. I use my Cumara for the same applications as you do. I have even done down to 110'.

Anyone used the Wright & Mcgill dropshot rod?
I had the same issue. The Loomis drop-shot rod is pretty good but over-priced. I currently use the 7'2 medium extra-fast Cumara and love it.

Hey Catt...
I don't know, clam cakes dipped in hot white chowder are pretty good this time of year when it gets cold out.

Swim baits
The soft Bluegills are big fish catching machines for me. Also great bedding baits because of how they nose down.
