  1. I've never really used an IWB holster in the waistband. I have an Uncle Mikes IWB holster for my CZ83 .380 pistol, but I don't use it in the waistband. I actually use it as a pocket holster. Works great like that. If you have any sort of spare tire, like me, IWBs aren't that comfortable. You might find that a couple of holsters will suit you best. IWB is great when you are lightly clothed. But if you wear anything with some length, like long polo shirts untucked, close, highride holsters do well. They are easily hidden. I am partial to Galco FLETCH holsters. If price is no problem, Del Fatti holsters are the bomb diggity. http://www.delfatti.com/
  2. Here's the official description: Male, probably Caucasain, or not 5'4" to 6'10" 100-300 lbs Hair: yes Eyes: two Answers to the name "Hey you." If you see this individual, lettuce know.
  3. That's the way I feel. I've never carried a firearm while fishing because I really thought I might need one for self defense. I've never used a ramp I felt unsafe at (except from friggin jet skiers, and you can't shoot them). I usually carry one because I want to. Or because I dread a late night or early morning breakdown on the way to or from my ramp. I feel far more comfortable aroudn the people I see on th water than most of the people I am around in shopping malls.
  4. Think that'll work for ya, huh? ;D
  5. I want to see it. it looks fun. BTW, Shawn of the Dead was great, too.
  6. I agree with Pantera. Not as much difference as some are suggesting. The Zillion is a little more refined, but it costs a little more. As far as performance, they are very, very close. The STX has a better drag, though. Want looks, go Zillion. Want price, go STX. Either way, you get a good reel.
  7. Sometimes I do, other times not. Depends on how I'm feeling. When I do I either open carry, or carry the gun in my bag. I never carry concealed on my person while fishing. Mainly because I carry a big .357 Magnum and it's hard to conceal. Besides, a big stainless steel advertisement on my hip can prevent trouble before it starts.
  8. You can bet whatever they give you will include a premium increase. ;D
  9. Neither is going to have a huge impact. 6.3:1 will handle frogging and deep cranking well. It's the best all-around gear ratio. If I had to chose a single speed for all my reels, it would be 6.3:1. If having a a reel with a higher or lower gear ratio is a must, my personal preference would be for a 7.#:1 reel. I've appreciated having a fast reel for certain applications more than I've appreciated a slow reel for deep cranking. In fact, I'm getting to the point that I don't have much use for a slow reel.
  10. I figure by April most of the college spring-breakers are gone. Aren't they usually there in march?
  11. Need more details. What exactly isn't working?
  12. Thanks for the input. I've been through St. Augustine. I'll check into that.
  13. My family and I had plans to vacation in Gatlinburg, TN this April but plans fell through. Now I'm scrambling to come up with new plans. I'm thinking of flying the family down to Florida for a few days. The kids are too old to do the Disnaey/Themepark thing, and my wife now wants a nice beach vacation. I've heard Clearwater is super nice. I've been there once but didn't get to do much. Is Clearwater a decent place to go? I've heard good things, and the beaches seem nice. How is it in April?
  14. That was a good commercial, if only for the sound!
  15. I replied to this right after Pantera posted it, but I just got on. Only kidding. It's working pretty well for me. When this site is slow, every other site is slow for me. I think it's heavy traffic with my ISP.
  16. Daiwa is the "dark side." Shimano is the "pink side."
  17. My Jitterbugs don't need hooks. Because I can't get anything to hit a Jitterbug.
  18. That line will work well for all but the biggest cranks. I use 10# mostly but I use 8# with my 6'6" M/MF rod and Daiwa Sol. It works well with cranks like shad raps and such. Not so much for DD22s.
  19. It's not normal for most reels, but it is for higher end Daiwas. The red oil is a low viscosity oil that works well on spool bearings. But because its rather thin, a single drop on each bearing after a day of use is recommended. It will preserve the long casting ability of the reel. A higher viscosity, thicker, oil, will slow the bearing down. Maybe not much, but some. On my Abu Revos, I use the same oil on the bearings that I do on other parts of the reel. On my Daiwas, I use the red oil only on the spool bearings, and regular reel oil on other parts - as directed. My Daiwas have remained very high performing reels. My Daiwas are the only reels I have that I actually use a different spool-bearing oil on. For other parts of the reel, I use Abu Garcia reel oil, just like on my Revos. As far has the grease goes, you don't need Daiwa's special grease (even though I do). Abu's reel grease will work well, and it's easier to find. I use the grease on the gears only. When I clean the drags, i make sure that are clean and dry. If they need grease, I apply a tiny bit to my finger tips and massage it on the drag components. Too much and the drag won't work well. Not enough and the drag can be a bit jumpy. It only takes a itty bitty bit (if any) to make it smooth.
  20. Both the Curado and Crucial are excellent. Are you looking for an all-around set up?
  21. Garbage - unworthy of the Abu Garcia name. Components look to be made of pot metal. They aren't smooth. I picked on up at a local tackle store and cranked it and it scraped. Thought it was a fluke and tried 5 more and they all did it. Do yourself a favor. Save a bit more money and get a C3 or C4.
