Yo-Zuri Hybrid. 6-8# (not sure what your rod is rated for so I'm guessing). This line is low stretch, plenty supple, transmits sensation very well, has super abrasion resistance, and is UV resistant as well. Yo-Zuri also breaks well over its rated test.

Yes! That was more noteworthy than the weight. They were beautiful rods.

Unless you have tried a Winch, you can't fully appreciate the Zillion High Power. The Winch is not an STX. The Winch launced heavy baits just fine, but below 1/2 oz mine was a not a great performer. My Zillion High Power cast heavier baits as well as the Winch, and cast lighter baits MUCH better than the Winch.

I fish brackish waters and second the comments about finding the freshest portion to fish. In my waters, that means the backest of the backwaters. I may have some disagreement, but I think the bass spawn a wee bit earlier in the brackish creeks I fish than in the lakes I fish.

I fish them. Worms: The 4" straight tail and the 6" fat straight tail have worked well for me. Colors: M. M. III, which is a purple/blue/brown layered color with red flakes Aaron's Magic R&B Flake, which is blue/green/brown layered color with red flakes ---- Craws: 4" Sour Puss has caught a few fish for me. Colors: M.M. III, described above Green Neon Pumpkin, which is a green pumplin color with sort of a pearl hue and red flakes

I had the chance to handle the C3 rods last weekend and my first, very quick, impression was that they felt heavy. As soon as I lifted it off the rack that weight became apparent. I must say, though, is that it was a beautiful rod - nicely finished, very attractive, and the grips were particularly nice.

I took home and cleaned a buddy's reel exactly like that. Not only did it not have any bearings, it didn't even have an anti-reverse bearing. It had an anti-reverse cog and dog. That friggin' dog has two thin pieces of sheet metal attached to either side. You have to slip the cog between those little pieces of sheet metal so the dog stays aligned with the cog. Interesting design to say the least. BTW, this guy bought this reel in the '80s and had NEVER cleaned it. I had to soak the components in gasoline to get the solidified grease off of the parts. It took me forever to scrape/chip the dried pond scoum that had accumulated inside the frame.

The Revo's brakes isn't bad or good, it's just different. And if you take the time to learn it, like any other reel, you'll get used to it. Most of my baitcasters have a pretty narrow range of use. I have a flipping reel, a pitching/frog reel, spinnerbait reels, worm reel, c-rig reel, etc. I don't have one reel that has a broad range of uses. So I don't need to mess with the brake or spool tension that much once I set it. That said, if I did need a reel to pull duty on a broad range of lure weights, I'd go with the Zillion. As good as the Revo is, it's quicker to find the sweet spot on the Zillion. Set the spool tension so the lure drops to the floor but not so quckly that the spool spins once it hits. Then set the brake to 50% and you are there. After that it's just a matter of brake-setting preference. The only caveat for would be if you are casting lighter baits - under 1/2 oz. My Revo STXs do outcast my Zillions with light baits.

"Done" doesn't necessarily last that long.

After my first post, I put on some sweat pants and a fleece and crawled under the covers. I couldn't get warm. Now I'm burning up. In that past, that was a good sign for me that whatever I have is about the break.

My head hurts. My thinuses are all thuffed up. I feel like thit. I haven't been thick in years. This thucks. sniff

I would buy a new Curado 200DPV 5.0:1. They can still be had and are excellent reels. IMO, they are better built than the new Curados.

Check how it sits on the bottom. This sits nose down, tail up. It's one of the best lipless out there for that. I think ti will make a good bed-fishing bait.

BINGO! That's the one thing I don't like about it. I'm 300 lbs. When I fish alone and sit on the front seat, the tail end raises. I need to keep my motor in the water to keep from being blown sideways. With two people its not as big an issue. However, I don't sit so low in the front that I have any issues. I've been out in some big chop (on lakes) and never taken anything over the bow.
