That is sweet. Nice looking baits!

How about a comparison
After fishing with the Revo STX for several years now, and seeing the Curado E in action, and trying it a time or two myself, I'd go with the Revo. In fact, I'd go with a Quantum over the current Curado. From my experience, the Revo is much more substantial. Break them both down and you'll see what I mean. The Revo has more robust gearing and other components. The STX has aluminum sideplates, aluminum spool tension knob, and steel levelwind shroud. All plastic on the Curado E. Attention to detail inside the reel is another telling point. Where the Revo is meticulously machined, the Curado looks distinctively cast, unlike like its predecessor, the 200D. The Revo has a drag the Curado simply cannot match. The Revo is as smooth, and cast just as well. In fact, the Revo casts light baits as well, and I think it handles heavier baits better. The brake is far easier to adjust than the Curado. The Curado E has a really low profile, and may be slightly lighter. But the corners Shimano cut to get there are very evident. I don't know what it is about this reel that suggests it should cost $180. The Curado is even less substantial than the Revo S, which is $60 less expensive. I suppose, in large part, you are paying for the name. I'm betting you are going to get some passionate answers. I suggest you take a close look at these reel, beyond the logo painted on them, and see which reel has the guts to take you 10 years down the road. I wouldn't buy a Curado E. So I can't recommend it. I would buy, and own 3, Revo STXs. I recommend them over the Shimano. In addition to a better reel, you get Abu's awesome customer service in the remote chance you need it.

My favorites are the straight tailed Robos and Berkley Shakey Worms.

Revo SX Question
No, his theory on the Revo's brake is a piece of moldy bread. His avatar is just a picture of it.

Revo SX Question
Cart, I think your continued rant has lost all it's steam. First you went on and on about mag brakes being for beginners. You said ONLY Abu used them. When someone pointed out that Daiwa had them, too, you came up with some new way to explain your position - "the Daiwa's brake is differnent. Never mind, Cart, that the purpose is exactly the same as the Abu's, to decelerate the spool. But I don't really care about the Daiwa. I'm wondering about your newest choice. You've yet to acknowledge, or attempt to explain, why, when you hate the brake on the Revo, you bought a reel with EXACTLY the same type of magnetic brake. The mag brake on the Patriach ISN'T like the Daiwa's brake, it's like the Revo's. Exatly like the Revo's. Now, Cart, if that brake is as worthless as you say, why did you switch to a reel with with precisely the same brake? Why didn't you simply stick to a reel with just a centrifugal brake?? (<<two questions marks, since I've asked twice). Why did you swith to a reel with all the extra weight of a worthless braking system? This is the comment that gets me, though... When I fished with Curados, I rarely changed the setting from two pins, either. NOT because it didn't need it, but rather because taking a sidelplate off and pushing little pins on and of with sticky, fishy hands, it a PITA.

Wow, that's as backhanded a compliment as I've ever read.

LIMIT DOWN!
That's the problem. Too many people don't understand the difference between loosing money and loosing value. Lost value can be recovered, lost money can't. I've heard of more than a few people who withdrew their 401K money when the stocks started diving. They lost money they'll never get back. Had they had the fortitude to ride it out, and maybe buy when prices were low, they would have recouped their lost value, and made some more to boot.

LIMIT DOWN!
I agree. But if you didn't buy when the DJ dropped to 7500 you missed a major window. I sold half my fixed funds and moved the money, as well as new money, into stock funds during that window. Last time it was that low was 6.5 years ago. Still, now is a good time to buy. The DJ may drop lower, but over the long term you're going to make some money even if you buy today. As Warren Buffet say, "Be greedy when others are fearful."

Already got a bunch of Roumbas. Love 'em!

Izorline - Opinions
I found a local store that sells 1,000 yard spools of 12# Izorline XXX Co-poly for $16. Is this good line and is that a good price? Edit: It's regularly $15.99, on sale for $8.99.

Opinions on Lucky Craft Bull Fish
I've really enjoyed fishing wakebaits this year. I've collected quite a few and am looking forward to using them even more next season. I think I'll get a couple and see for myself how they perform.

Revo SX Question
Here's my prediction: No matter how it turns out for you, you'll be back in the spring to declare that the Revo is nothing more than a backlash bomb and inferior to anything and everything that carries a Shimano tag.

How do these stack up as wake baits? Anyone ever use them?? http://www.***.com/descpageHDTLUCKYHDCLUCKY-LCBF.html

disappointed by Daiwa
You wouldn't be the first person to complain of a grinding Stella (or bail problems on Stratics). Just visit some saltwater or striper boards.

Revo SX Question
If you set your reel up properly and practice, it doesn't matter what your brake system is. If you're competent with your rig, a magnetic brake or centrifugal brake doesn't matter. It simply comes down to preference. I use one of my Revo STXs to throw lighter cranks on a 6'6" medium rod. I use the other to throw heavier plastics and spinner baits on a medium heavy rod. And I use yet another to throw frogs on a heavy/extra fast rod. The reel handles all these well when it's set to the task. I have two Revo SXs and two Revo SCs, both with magnetic brakes, that I use to throw weightless plastics, and heavy spinnerbaits. The work great. And I have two Revo Ss with centrifugal brakes I use to throw Carolina Rigs and flip heavy jigs, but they have worked well throwing light baits on lighters rods. It comes down to proper set up and competance that comes with practice.

LC Pointer DD vs. LC SK Jerk
When would you use one or the other?

Whats you favorite shallow flipping bait
Big Zoom Tube in green pumpkin on an Owner weighted tube hook. Recently I've tried the Roboworn Robo-X 4" Sour Puss on a 1/2 oz Booyah jig head that has produced a few fish. The Sour Puss is bouyant and sits nicely in the bottom - reaching for the sky.

LC Pointer DD vs. LC SK Jerk
Is there a practical difference between Lucky Craft PointerDDs and Stacey King Jerks? For instance, other than lure profile, it there a performance or action difference between, say, the Pointer 100DD and the SK Jerk100D2R?

Snakehead program on National Geographic tonight.
In Virginia, the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has been studying the snakehead since it was discovered here some years ago. So far, the Frankenfish has turned out to be little more than a curious addition to the river systems where it is located. The DGIF has determined the following: 1) There is a self sustaining population of Northern Snakeheads in Virginia tributaries of the Potomac. 2) Snakeheads are not competing with bass. Snakeheads prefer niche environment not favored by bass - extremely shallow, weed choked water low in oxygen. 3) The largemouth bass population in the Potomac and its tributaries has been unaffected by the Snakehead. 4) Bass will feed on young snakeheads. 5) The preferred food of Virginia snakeheads is killifish - a soft-rayed fish found in the niche environment the snakehead prefers. Snakeheads eat their prey tail-first and seem to be avoiding hard-rayed fish. 6) Most large snakeheads captured by the DFIG show evidence of Osprey attacks. Apparently, Snakeheads prefer a niche environment that favors them being caught by Ospreys. 7) A sport fishery is starting to develope with guide services that offer trips specializing in snakehed fishing. Now, the sitution is still being analyzed. But so far, it's hardly the monster fish people thought it would turn out to be.

Revo SX Question
Then why the heck would you extoll the virtues of the dual brake on the Pflueger and Johnny Morris? Those have magnetic brakes. If its as "useless" as you claim, then not only is it a waste of space, it MUST be a waste of weight. All that extra weight and spool mass for a brake system that has no virtue whatsoever. Imagine how much better those reels would have been, and how much less they would have weighed, had the Pflueger just left off the magnetic portion. Unless, of course, that your theory is so much hoo haw. Nice try, Cart. Next....

Which jerkbait do you think is the best
I hear that the Megabass Vision is the bomb. But I'd take a LC Pointer any day. IMO, the LC Pointer is the best, readily available jerkbait on the market. I do like Rapalas, too.
