I used their softplastic toad, Bully Frog, quite a bit this summer. They're a little bigger than zoom hornytoads and I caught some fish They're using megastrike cooked into their baits these days, their 6" salty slingipede looks like a fresh take on a classic...
  2. It's about 10$ there and back for me. For every 3 things that go in the basket, 2 get put back on the shelf...it's fun.
  3. Welcome to the board! On most braids there these measurements. Length Lb test Diameter in metric and in english Most of the time there is something along the lines of 30lb braid has the diameter of 8lb mono 40lb braid to 10lb mono and 50 lb braid has the diameter of 12 lb mono. So if you're looking at a box of 40 lb fireline in the store, find one of the diameters for the fireline and match that number to a box of mono. Or......go to this website http://www.berkley-fishing.com/prod.php?k=60420&sk=47013&u=FLFS ;D Or go to this website for Power Pro specs, what most other braids will be as far as Lb test/ diam. http://www.powerpro.com/using/specs.asp Also, I like Suffix, McCoy, Powerpro braids...in that order. Wiimote: do you have the fishing game for wii? is it nice?
  4. That's good stuff Sam! Try a search for Silly rabbit, ghost
  5. Is anyone using a weighted hook, i.e. falcon? If so what weight/size? The article says to use a heavy 5/0 hook, screw in bullet somewhere around 1/4 oz, and 17-20 lb test. I'd like to be able to use a lighter gauge hook/lighter tackle and not have it spin. Maybe I don't need to "lighten up" in a clear, heavily pressured reservoir to be successful with this bait and presentation? I've never fished them but am excited to try them. Thanks Cory
  6. Nice looking baits! I really like the baby bass, my favorite color to throw!
  7. Things I'd want to try that are reasonable for me to buy: Zillion Stradic Dobybs champion spinning rods Carrot stick, all powers to name a few Things I'd want to try that are out of my price range: A real bass boat Work up to "real tournements" GLX Core Steez on Steez the list goes on and on...
  8. Who says? The 4 people here, that might actually own one. They don't have more than a few outings use at most. Wait a couple of seasons and see what happens...I still haven't seen anything written about catches with these veggie stiks. Sorry IMPO no it isn't. I have been using mine since October and I fish 3-4 times per week so that is around 25-30 trips and i have caught alot of fish on the carrot ranging from dinks to 6 pound largemouth 5 pound smallie and 15 pound striper and the rod has performed as good if not better than any rod I own not to mention it has a FULL lifetime warranty. Why are you so down on these rods? 8-) ;D : If you guys aren't pals.......I don't care how many dumb smiley's you put after that nonsense. .02 New technology is exciting, obviously, but is it always best? Ephedran (sp?) - Great weight loss supplement, really helped people lose a lot of weight...until the people taking it started having heart attacks and dying. Heroin - The less addictive alternative to morphine.. Vxxgra - Yahoo! Ahh my heart... So these examples are just a little, ok a lot, out of context. But they were all "the" next big thing. I'm excited about the stix and they're performing great, right now. "Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why do they put a guarantee on a box? Hmm, very interesting. Ted: I'm listening. Tommy: Here's how I see it. A guy puts a guarantee on the box 'cause he wants you to fell all warm and toasty inside. Ted: Yeah, makes a man feel good. Tommy: 'Course it does. Ya think if you leave that box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter. Ted: What's your point? Tommy: The point is, how do you know the Guarantee Fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy, but we're not buying it. Next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser and your daughter's knocked up, I seen it a hundred times. Ted: But why do they put a guarantee on the box then? Tommy: Because they know all they solda ya was a guaranteed piece of sxxx. That's all it is. Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time..." Tommy Boy Still going strong in another year or two, I can learn to like a bright orange rod. edited: for bad words

There was a tutorial type thread on here a while ago, but the search feature isn't finding it...anyways... I forget who put the tutorial together but you can make a rudimentary skirt tool with large aluminum knitting needles, 12.5 mm, they're usually a brass/gold color. They can be found at mal warts or any craft store. The needles are hollow, cut with a hack saw to desired length above the point of the needle. Lube with some vaseline and slide your collars on over the point and up the shaft. Put it in a table vice or whatever you come up for holding it. Build your skirt in the tube and slide your collars up. Quick and dirty... Looking for a nice tool that spreads the bands and keeps them round, looking into the Naked Bait co. skirt tool. Cory
  10. For the 3d eyes, Devcon 2, the 30 minute stuff...1.97 at wally world over them. Thin it some with a denatured alcohol to help put on a smooth coat. For the weed guards, dip them in Devcon 5 minute. The stuff sets up fast, too fast to be used efficiently for clear coating. You could get away with clearing over the eyes, but while you're at it might as well do the whole jig. Epoxy is cheap. sorry this is a mess, i'm really tired. Super glue and super glue jell can wick up a weed guard and isn't a good choice.
  11. Wow that is awesome, putting it on the list.
  12. Take a rubber band and tie it around the frog just forward of the hook points. This will depress the body, exposing the hook points just a little bit more. Making hook sets easier. Wouldn't do this fishing heavy slop/pads, but I wouldn't be using a hollow bodied frog in there either.
  13. With all these recent miracles I keep hearing about happening at Dick's Sports... Let's see... there's one 15 minutes North another 15 minutes South another 25 minutes South Wahooo!

  17. To help the knot flow though the guides, try melting the bitter ends up close to the knot and put a dot of superglue on it.
  18. Congrats, catch something fun
  19. Denatured Alcohol thins devcon, never tried cleaning a brush either.

How are the thickness of the ragetail claws compared to paca? thicker, thinner, about the same? The Kickin Craw, by roboworm, has great action but the claws are thin and panfish make short work of them.

My vote is along the lines of Catts. I know a loop knot imparts a lot of action on jerkbaits and topwater, probably would do the same with a trap. Winter time to-do list related to fishing # 162... Replace my circle split rings with oval ones, hate it when the line jumps right onto the thin sharp part when tying.

I like the high back design. Looks like it will really pivot on its nose when it whacks things, could make it more weedless. Let us know how it is

  24. I've always gone to a jerkbait when I'm having a tough day and can usually get something to bite. It's versatile and keeps me busy. Going to really focus on fishing a jig this season, hopefully I'll have a new favorite next year
  25. Am I correct in thinking that the quality of the BB's is more important than the quanity?
