All Star Tackle Bag Offer
Anybody send off the coupon for a free tackle bag that comes (on some at least) All Star rods? I just paid 6.95 shipping and it arrived today, just 3 weeks after I sent off the check!

still waiting on primetime!!
Yeah, the river has been slack lately huh? I was inside the 800 foot sign Saturday with no sign of current. Or smallies. I did manage to wear myself out on drum though. I'm going to try below Wheeler on Wilson next week. Word is it's pretty good up there right now.

Avids on clearence?
My local Dick's has at least 1, and it's 129. I would difinitely do 90.

What's your favorite peice of fishing equipment?
Used to be my GPS, until the antenna went el crapo on me. Now, I'd say my scale, because if I'm using it, I just caught something that made my day.

What was your first rod and reel?
Daiwa underspin reel with matching rod. I still remember my first bass, 19 years ago, I remember the spot, and seeing it jump. I had no Idea it would lead to a lifelong addiction.

pitching/flipping with spinning reel
What kind of baitcasting gear were you using? I don't have any problems flipping/pitching with quality b/c gear, especially something as heavy as an Ika. I do have some low end stuff on my deck that I can't pitch with. I feel that I'm better able to control the lure with my thumb lightly on the spool to make adjustments if I need. With a spinning setup, once it's off, it's gone. I have right hand ret. reels, so I just pitch it with my left hand if I'm flipping several times per minute, but I'm a little more accurate with my right hand, so I've toyed with the idea of a lefty ret for flipping. Also, I don't have a beefy enough spinning setup to handle yanking fish out of grass, which is where I do most of my flipping, pitching.

It's almost prime time!
Thanks. This warm weather is killing me. Not only are we ridiculously busy at work (golf course), October is nearly over and the water temp is still in the high 70's. My buddy is coming up next weekend, so I hope it's at least below 75 by then. RW, you having any luck yet?

The Fishing Offseason
I don't plan on leaving the water until the water temp falls below 45 degrees. Then I'll probably spend some time walking the banks looking for artifacts and whatnot.

It's almost prime time!
Went again today after work for a couple of hours. The minnows I'm catching are still small, and the water seems to have been stuck at 77 for the past week, with the warmer weather. I only managed 2 drum, a small catfish, and a nice sauger. I'll be back out there tomorrow!

Fishing License Fees in your state...
Just went up to 12 here in Alabama. Up from 9.50 I think. The lifetime freshwater also went up from 150 to 250.

It's almost prime time!
Went below Wilson Dam on Pickwick today after work to drift some minnows. The current was pretty slow, and the FLW boys were everywhere, but I did manage this guy as soon as my minnow hit bottom:

Cork issues
OK, I'm going to order the U-40 from Cabela's if it isn't stocked by the local custom rod guy. Looks like good stuff. Thanks

Cork issues
David, what do I fill the pits with?
-
Cork issues
The cork handles on a couple of my rods are starting to shrink and crack. They are also very slippery because they are so dry. They've seen their share of rain and sunlight, but is there anything I can apply to the cork to improve their current condition?

Topwater ideas for small smallies?
When I fish the creek here for smallies, topwater is my ONLY option since the water is rarely deeper than a foot. All I take with me is Zoom trick worms and a small storm chug bug.

Groups of small bubbles??? what is this??
With me, it's usually the fish laughing at me... But seriously, it's most likely turtles.

Tied PB on a crankbait!
Dang, that's what it's all about!

Whats your average bass???
