  1. Hey guys/gals, I wanted to share the outing from yesterday. Andrew (AndrewDo124) and I had a rare opportunity to hit our favorite spot, and it was well worth the time. Such a great morning to be out, we saw tons of great wildlife, caught lots of fish, and had a chance to catch up. We each landed at least 10-15 fish, and then each caught a decent kicker fish. Andrew's fish going around 2+ and mine at 4lbs 8oz. Sorry no pics on his fish ;)Andrew, thanks for a solid outing.
  2. Hey Dan, Love the rod, but I think i should have gone med/heavy. The 3lb'er was pulling like a freight train. It made me wonder if i hooked a 5'er if it would be able to muscle the fish out of the pads. About the cork grip, love it. I have pretty big hands, so its pretty comfortable. Different, but comfortable. ml pauley: yea, love the Shimano. searched and searched for something in that price range that was competitive, and The Symetre 2500 took the win.
  3. Thanks guys, apreciate it. Jay, I've been around man, just like you, taking care of the babies. You're right, they grow up fast, the boy is now 6 months, and the littel girl is 19 months. We WILL wet a line this year, no doubt. I'm getting more time on the water this year already, so i know i'll hook up with some of the good folks on here. A word on the braid. I love it for the most part. Its great when I'm fishing in the lily pads, which is where I caught most of the fish, and why I specifically set up that reel with it. But I gotta say, I love my traditional mono for its "feel" I dunno call me traditional. The noise also is a bit annoying especially with me throwing mostly spinners. Oh yea, all the fish were caught on Senko green/white run right thru the lily pads, and the 3lber hit a large Terminator spinner with a colorado blade (thx trev ) at the edge of the pads seen in the pic.
  4. oh yea...the new spot.
  5. Lets try this...
  6. Hey all, In my area, the evening cleared up at around 530pm, so I went out to my new little sanctuary. I'd been once before about a month ago, with little to show, a dink and a crappie :-? Well I went out yesterday and the bite seemed to be on. I caught 7 total. I'm guessing the largest was around 3lbs. Anyway, I've been lurking on the forums, and noticed the Nova boys and girls are a bit lethargic, so I figured I'd post up. Hope you all are catching some. **fixed, pix are up**
  7. Mine...in order 1. Catfish 2. Walleye 3. Crappie 4. Perch
  8. I'd try one more time, making sure the husband will be home. If its does not pan out, move on. There are plenty of other places. Also, dont show up with beer, you're not sure they drink. I just made my second call to this lady in my area who gave me her number through a mutual friend about fishing in her pond. She said to my friend, "i'm sure it would be fine, just have him call me, here is my number...". Well, I called 2 times and wont be calling again, i think twice is enough to get the idea. With that said, I still have 6 ponds I have standing permission to fish.
  9. I agree My wife and i watched last week as he went skunked, laughing at how he acts. It gives some life the the typical boring bass fishing tv host i think. I very much relate to him in the fact that i'm normally bumping hip hop heading to the water also. :-X
  10. Nice fish. What a gut on that thing!
  11. X2. :-X x3. Nice to see you post up. Cute little guy there Jason, it lots of fun eh? Hopefully we can meet up at some point this season.
  12. Nice fish. What did the big one fall to? Might have to head out there after all! Maybe you can show me some of the finer points of Pelham. Got out to Thornburg, on a private lake yesterday and caught a decent dink. I'm just happy I got that first fish of the season out of the way, haha ;D
  13. Haymarket- I fish mainly private farm ponds, public ponds, and lakes. Some those are private, and some not. Also fish nearby streams and have good access to major rivers like Potomac and Shenandoah and Rapp. Been to all the major Va lakes, but there are many yet I want to hit. Occasionally I get out west to Kentucky, where my wife's Grandparents have an A-frame cabin on Yatesville Lake. I mainly fish light tackle finesse spinning techniques, and rarely break out anything heavy. Exclusively a enthusiast fisherman, not a tournament type of person. I fish to relax and unwind. I also love to fish saltwater as much as my schedule will allow, and lately, with 2 kids under two years old, that does not happen much at all. This summer I should hit the salt though. I'm truly starting my season this weekend. Good luck to all this season
  14. Nice. What lure fooled that hawg?
  15. Nothing going on here, just trying to gear up for Spring. Doing what I can now household wise to ensure some quality time early season outings. ;D
  16. Made it there yesterday with a friend, shopping for a medium spinning Rod. I was back and forth between Daiwa, Surfside, and Daves. The Daiwa guys were super cool and knowledgeable, and very neutral as I was totally shopping 3 different rods. But Dan was right. I was also getting a lot of pressure from other vendors too. Ultimately went with a 6'6" Kistler from Daves Tournament Tackle. Real nice people there too. Watching Dave make a Spinner from just a bunch of parts was a treat. All in all a good time, for the short time I was there.
  17. No....what do you guys think? Nice fish, great story too. I'd say about 5lbs
  18. What an awesome fish, congrats on the new pb

  22. What a shame, you had to keep and eat one of the best tasting fish around. Nice fish btw!
