  1. Yet another instance happened today to convince me this is the best site on the net. Great info, stories, help, and best of all the people. Several weeks ago a buddy of mine ask me to help him find a gps antenna for his Lowrance. We had checked ebay and a dozen other sites and all were priced above 125.00(New is 229.00). I posted here and offered to pay 100.00 plus shipping for an antenna to help him out(Funds were limited). Several days ago Russell(rnm1999) let me know he had one so we made a deal to meet today. Picked up the antenna and after offering the hundred for it Russell said he would let it go for 75.00. Now I have met another future fishing partner along with Catt and Long Mike. Thank you Russell. I won't forget the help. If you and Tom need my cordinates from Lake Falcon just let me know. This site is loaded with the right kind of people. Glenn, you and the rest of the mods should be proud of the way this site is up and running. Thanks to all of you also.
  2. Well run, honest, and up to snuff.
  3. Faircloth,Hackney, and Vandam in no particular order
  4. I will be there. Not sure how many days though.
  5. Any book or dvd by: Ike, KVD, or Denny
  6. Looks great.Try to get some dealers in the Houston area
  7. I must be missing something. Nowhere did I see any mention that the fish was killed. You can see the lake behind him in the picture. Do any of you locals have information that it was killed?
  8. Probably more *** than hating. Most successful people have a long list of envious individuals than tend to wish harmful things if only to cover up their own shortcomings
  9. I have a 565 and have no problems. Use it up front and can be adjusted for any type of senario.(Grass) it will read individual strands growing from the bottom.
  10. Lots more beatings to come if they don't get the ship fixed. I loved it. Shots of funny face up in his private box were priceless.
  11. Just because you are fishing braid does not mean you do not need to retie often. Just ask Long Mike about not retying braid after each use. It will dry rot and break off just like mono. Failing to retie cost him a very large fish on Fork, broke in the knot.
  12. Fused at C4-5 5-6 6-7. Three plates and 12 screws. You might say I have had back and neck pain. Total of six surgeries on my neck and back. Have experimental Botox injections(Usually from 25-40 injections) every 90 days and I'm due for a set now. does not keep me down though.
  13. I just figured it was your busy time of the year. Glad to hear you are ok . Watch out for the bait monkey, he will help you spend all the extra money you made during the holidays.
  14. I'm leaving this morning for Dallas to spend the next 4 days with wife's family. They just happen to live on Lake Ray Hubbard so the boat is going with me. Where is everyone else going if at all? Merry Christmas to everyone. Catt, I'm going through Lufkin and picking up your spinnerbait box you left in the boat. Will get it to you early next week.
  15. If you decide to do a little traveling after the holidays and end up in the East Texas area just let me know and your fishing trips in this area are covered. Back seat and the front deck are open anytime you like. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
  16. This thread is worthless without pics and directions to the mall. Been there and done several things similar to it only they had a lot less on at the time. Cost me a lot more than the 109.00 too. Just chalk it up to experience. Let me guess...you did not get her name and number. Use them for gifts for your female friends and maybe to a couple of your male friends if they are a little suspect.
  17. Sam pretty much nailed it. Spend the money to have a certified mechanic(Marine) check it out. It will be the best money you ever spend. Good luck and enjoy.
  18. Yep, and take lots of pictures. You will be glad you did later on.
  19. Unfortunately, the vast majority of boaters on the waters these days would've answered the stand on boat question as "the boat I'm standing on while I'm drinking my beer." Sadly, whether one knows the rules of the road for boating or not, the whole system only works if everyone does and follows them. I've found it's literally an every man for themselves environment on most lakes and never, ever trust anyone to do what the handbook says. Very well said. I posted this information with the hope that a few would at least research the information and make the decision on their own to either study the info or at least remember a few of the rules It is not a law that you pass or even take the test(Yet); however, if just one individual reads and remembers something from the course that keeps an accident from happening it has done it's job. Just as a drivers license does not regulate stupidity, it will not keep someone from making a mistake or possibly an error in judgement that could take a life. Personally I enjoyed taking the course and am now working on the advanced course that is offered. JMO
  20. NFL lost me as a fan back in the early 80s. I have always been a huge college fan so I just turn to something else on Sunday. What's even better I don't have to listen to all the idiot talking heads that do nothing but self promote anyway. If any one of them ever had an original idea it would be the first time.
  21. We need pics. This thread is useless without any pics.
  22. Numbers one and two were correct. The boat breakdown was electrical problems.
  23. Here are more: What is freeboard? Fire extinguishers A, B, C, and D. What does each work best on? What is the depth in feet of three fathoms? What is the most common cause of boat breakdowns? What is a Type IV PFD? What type of boat is legal at night carrying either a lighted lantern or an electric torch in white? Good luck.
