  1. Red, right, return. Correct? Yes. Keep the reds to your right(Starboard side) and the greens to the left(Port side) when entering a river or bay from seaward. Good job, now go get your certification. I had not taken it in years and I learned things I had either forgotten or never knew. It was a great exercise.
  2. If you are returning from seaward and approaching a red buoy, which side of the boat should it pass on? White buoy with orange rectangle with orange circle in the rectangle. What does it mean? 26' sailboat has what lighting requirements? What are the two distress signal makers required on a boat over 26' and less than 65'? Guys, if you cannot answer these questions and 45 more like them you cannot pass a safe boating course. If you would like to see how much you do not know, go to www.boatsafe.com to find out. Click on your state and take the preview test(It's free). You will be surprised by the questions. If you want to certify, you can click on take the test, pay a small fee, and get your basic boat certification. I spent two hours last night to re certify myself. I made a 98 by the way, but I took the preview and made an 82 before I went over the course. The buoy section gave me problems and I had to study it some to bone up. It could save your life or someone else. Good luck
  3. Ding, Ding, Ding...We have a winner. The stand on boat(vessel) has the right of way, but may alter course to avoid a collision. It should maintain course and speed when being approached, approaching, or being passed by another vessel. Thank you Wayne P
  4. Pick a boat of your choice. If you own a boat you should know this, if not, you are excused. If no one has posted the correct answer I will give the answer at 6:00pm Central time.
  5. Do you know what it is? I bet there are many that have no clue.
  6. Good job. Wish I had the time to enjoy something like that. Keep it up and I hope you win it.
  7. AT&T has been good to me. Never any problems and I use them for my internet too.
  8. Bullett staring Steve McQueen.
  9. Outboards are not set up to run on the cuffs. Even though a stream of water will circulate it is not good to do so for any lenght of time. It will burn a water pump and/or motor quickly. It's ok to start and do a quick check, but make it a very short duration.
  10. Welcome. I could help you on Rayburn. I'm sure Catt wil do the same for Toledo. If you want a small lake(2500 acres) to fish try Lake Nacogdoches. It is loaded with 8-12lb fish. I can help you there also. FYI try posting your location in your avatar. It will help you when seeking information for the lakes in your area.
  11. Wrap a chain around the motor and hook it to your truck and punch it... Just kidding Give more info. Type boat, motor, any jack plate involved. No information given. Count the bolts in your hand. If it's three that's a problem.
  12. Depends of the layout of the water I'm fishing. Twenty four does not seem excessive, though I doubt I would check them all in practice. Good to have them just in case you are scrambling during tournament hours. Probably would not fish them all, but take a boat ride and check them out with electronics and try to fish the ones that I thought held the most promise. They always look different from the bow of the boat. JMO.
  13. Mike I thought that was a weird looking outfit you wore on fork. Just didn't want to question you about it. Probably why you spent most of your time on the rear deck.
  14. Well I will have to run it by the wife. Keeping my mouth shut also.
  15. I have most in my garage. They operate just as described.
  16. Muddy, what the heck does the size of your largest fish have to do with your thoughts or observations? There are people writing and making money about subjects that they are not completely educated on. I would value your thoughts reguardless of the size of , or how many you have caught. Go for it and give us a report. Looking forward to your research.
  17. Toledo Bend is that way. East side is Louisiana and West side is Texas. Each state recognises the other without a fee. Texoma is just the opposite. You need the Oklahoma permit or license in order to fish their side. It does suck. Amistad and Falcon are on the Texas Mexico border and you must have a Mexico license and I think a Mexico boat permit. I heard they did away with the permit, but I would not swear to it. You still need the license though if you cross the lake and fish the Mexico side.
  18. Since it is all electric how about Old Sparky. Old Sparky was the name of the Texas electric chair and it never failed to do the job. LOL
  19. Simple job. Anyone can do it. Even your wife, if you have one.
  20. That sucks. Maybe there was a reason like a better one at a cheaper price is coming down the pike. Good luck with your search.
  21. Mike, it's called greed. BTW, how are you?
  22. OPEC, I hope you are watching. Hopefully you can drown in your excess. Evidently you don't control the market quite as much as you think. Gas is 132.9 here today.
  23. Brown/green and black/blue. go to Falconlaketackle.com and read the fishing reports. It will give you more info that you can gather in a month. Watermellon/red on the magnum worms works well also. 65# braid at the least(I'm not kidding at all), or you are just wasting time. Every bush down there is loaded with thorns and anything living out of the water will either scratch, sting, or bite you. It is rough country.
  24. I have had rocks thrown at me, cussed out, authorities called, and just about anything you can dream up when dealing with dock owners. We have a list of a few on several of the lakes around here and all of us make a point to fish certain docks. Not to chap the owner, but to let him know that we mean no harm and are not trying to steal his equipment. Unfortunately, some are just the horses a-- that they are in everyday life. Several we have converted and they are no longer a problem; however, several are allways spoiling for a fight. Be careful if you do not know the owner, several have actually pulled guns on fishermen in this area.
  25. I miss Denny's show. Figures that they cancel the ones everyone seem to like. Very few worth the time it takes to watch. What ever happened to Bass Center too?
