  1. There are plenty down here in the Houston area. Lots of Whitewings out of old Mexico also.
  2. Let me guess, he was young, redheaded, and had a wart between his eyes. What a jerk. Someone needs to report this behavior. It is way overboard. By any chance did he resemble Barney Fife? Bet he was only allowed to carry one bullet.
  3. Don't forget the nasty ones that form out in the lower gulf. These are many times just as strong as the ones that move across the atlantic.
  4. Right on the money. Mine has been very reliable.
  5. It's the luck of the draw. I have never had a coangler complain to me on the water. I started years ago on the back deck and have never forgotten the feeling of being frontended.
  6. I pull my 19ft Skeeter with a ford sport trac with a v-6 without any problems.
  7. Check and see if the subfloor is full of water. Some of the older boats foam became waterloged and the substructure would carry a lot of extra weight from the water that accumulated over time. Just a thought, I have seen some that carried a lot.
  8. Check out the Smokie Mountains. Wife and I bought a cabin back in 96 out of Townsen. We love it.
  9. Have it done one week before Christmas. Everyone will feel sorry for you, you will get more/better gifts, and you will be ready to go right after the last college bowl game.
  10. Everyone needs to man up. Either crankit ,or leave it at home. Try fishing it on a c-rig with a 1 1/2 oz. weight and 4 ft. leader. I catch a ton that way and you don't wear yourself out as bad.
  11. Matt, Nacogdoches is my hometown. Let me know when you will be around. My mother worked at SFA for 28 years. By the way, try not to let your daughter find Bullfrogs and or the Annex. Both sit side by side and are guaranteed to destroy GPAs.
  12. I prefer the thin wire treble hooks. With heavier line you can just pull them free.
  13. Gas stations exist to make money and they'll keep their prices as high as they can for as long as they can. They don't make very much on gas while the price is rising or staying steady. So, when the price falls they try and take advantage of it and keep their prices high for as long as they can. Also, the gas station owner paid the old (high) price for the gas that's in his tank. He isn't going to want to sell it for less than he paid for it. The best thing to do in times of falling gas prices is to shop around and ONLY visit the cheapest station. This will force the other stations to drop their prices too. A lot of the cheaper gas can and will do long term damage to today's higher RPM engines. You get what you pay for applies to a lot of the cheaper prices. If you doubt it stop by several shops and check out the engines they have disassembled waiting on repair. Check out the valves and the piston rings that are coming out of the engines. Not a pretty site. And some of the v-6 mercury engines we have disaassembled lately look like they have 10,000 hours on them and the realty is they are only a couple of years old. A lot of the additives that are being refined in our gas are very detrimental, especially toward a v-6 2 stroke outboard.
  14. Houston needs: Defensive secondary Defensive line(Mario Williams/Demeco Ryans being the exception) Quarterback(Actually we have a good one they just will not let him start) Running back(Anyone that can average 3.0+ will do) General Manager(Smith on the hot seat) Head coach(He will be gone if the season ends up like last Sunday) Center Offensive line(They were pretty offensive Sunday)
  15. Several Conoco stations here had it at 3.21 yesterday.
  16. One lb. shiner fishing with a guide in Florida
  17. I agree with most that has been said. Another thing that sets the stage for the movement is the shorter days. The baitfish begin their movements according to several sets of circumstances and the bass will not be far behind. You just have to go fish them and they will tell you what is going on. I've seen Rayburn and Toledo (Being 30 miles apart) be in completely different stages this time of year. A friend of mine has told me that several of his deeper areas on Rayburn are starting to become spotty as to the bite. This tells me that some of the bait and the bass have begun to move and we are still having highs in the 90s.
  18. We probably should wait for Ike to pass this weekend if we are going to revive this thread. Catt and I both may be on the move.
  19. Just get her a nice card and promise her that you will create less havoc the next 12 months.
  20. If in fact you cannot find the leak it will probably be the transom. When they rot water will seap in in a thousand places. My old Skeeter did the same thing. We hunted for the leak for months and repaired everything we could think of. It stopped after $4,000.00 and a new transom. Hope this is not your case, but it sounds just like our problem. Good luck.
  21. No need to question his manhood... I would bet money he does not own a pair of Crocs.
