  1. Dang rain kept me off the lake today. That and the fact that my Nu Canoe isn't here yet:o(
  2. Welcome to BR - the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net, IMO! Yep, those Senkos are killers. Why not try some Fat Ika's T-rigged weightless next time out??
  3. Just because most of the BR guys and gals are 100% C&R certainly doesn't mean you have to be. Nothing wrong in eating your hard earned harvest. As for me personally, I C&R all bass since there are way better tasting fish to be caught and placed on the table. IMO:o)
  4. Welcome Drewski to BR, the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net. Patience young Bass Padiwan. It takes time and practice to be a Bass Jedi. You're on the right track, just don't get derailed and demoralized. In time, you'll be on par with and most likely outfishing your buddies! Keep those questions coming. There are a great many guys and gals on BR who are eager to make YOU the best bass fisherman you can be!!
  5. Nope, just exercising what little grey matter I have left:o) Have you made a decision yet??
  6. Wilson: you can always attach some outriggers/stabilizers on it like a LOT of the kayakers do to make it stable for standing in. Just go to Kayak Fishing Stuff webiste and do a search on outriggers and/or stabilizers to see many homemade versions. I know I'm making a set for my 10' Nu Canoe even though I probably won't need them I want my little boat to be ROCK SOLID stable for standing!!

    Good one!! Ahgagagaga!!!
  8. Not if your wife has GAS:o) Ahgagagagaga!!!
  9. kickbasskid: whoa there, young padiwan. Are you sure you want a SIK kayak for fishing (Sit In Kayak) vice a SOT kayak that most fisherman prefer (Sit On Top)?? The SIK does have a few pluses but the negatives far outweigh them. Please check out all the recommendations and articles/posts on this subject at the Kayak Fishing Stuff website BEFORE you buy something that will be more of a pain to use and ruin your fishing outtings! The Dragonfly that TyTy listed in his post would be WAY better than the Pelican Pursuit 100 IN MY OPINION!!! A SOT kayak gives you way more ROOM to acccess all your rods and fishing gear and also, IMO are safer since entry and exit are much easier. I just sold my Malibu Mini-X SOT kayak and bought a Nu Canoe which is in the $700 range for a 10' and $800 range in the 12' for the basic Recreation model. Finding a used one of those might be near impossible since the company is fairly new and a lot of people don't know about them. You can read all the posts I've made the last few weeks on the Mini-X and the Nu Canoe here on BR. For someone who doesn't care if he/she stands up while fishing, the Mini-X at 9'3" and 40 pounds is probably one of the BEST small kayaks on the market and you might be able to find a used one in your price range since the new ones sell for around $500 for the base model and $600 for the one rigged out completely for fishing. I paid $500 for my almost new, only used 4X Mini-X rigged for fishing and it came with a $120 deluxe seat, installed compass, and a $400 Werner Carbon paddle that IS the cat's whiskers!! I kept the seat and paddle when I sold the Yak itself for $300 to a guy who wanted it for his girlfriend. You can also find pretty good deals on Cobra Fish 'N Dive kayaks on Ebay and Craig's List. The Tarpon 120 is also touted as a nice fishing Yak. Just don't make a mistake and get the wrong configuration of Yak. Patience young Padiwan. You're not a Jedi yet (Yaki??) Hope this helps you out!!!
  10. Well, it's 02:30 and it's actually THUNDERING and LIGHTENING over San Diego!!! Geez, and I thought I'd have to wait until I got back to Indiana in July to experience that again! I've lived here since 1968 and can only recall a handful of times we've had thunderstorms around here (I know they get them in the mountains East of here all the time). Sure hope my St. Bernards don't go bonkers!!)
  11. Another rider with a noose around his neck. That's an accident waiting to happen, IMO! They don't call 'em murdercycles for nothing and I've been riding them since I was 15 years old! Really p@#%*d off the old "ball and chain" when I bought that '03 Anniversary Edition Sportster several years ago. She's MUCH happier now that I sold it and am back into supporting the Bait Monkey:o)
  12. We all gotta feed the Bait Monkey one way or the other. Too bad you lost that pike, though! Ain't fishing just about as much FUN as you can have!!! IMO:o)
  13. Ah geez, now ya's dune it! Here comes the "Curse of the Bait Monkey" AGAIN:o) Back, back you evil little bi-pedal creature! Ahgagagagaga!!!
  14. Welcome to BR - the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net!! As you can see there are many great members who will render their venerable opinions on just about any question you care to ask. IF I were to have your dilemma, I'd opt for an aluminum boat. Lightweight for towing and less prone to damage from shallow water obstacles where I normally like to fish. My boss also said he had an aluminum Tracker that he gave his son when he got his fiberglass Skeeter and he liked the aluminum boat because he could beach it almost anywhere without having to worry about scratching it all up or damaging it.
  15. A small Danforth anchor might just be what you need. Problem with most anchors not holding is not enough rode and the angle the anchor is resting at on the bottom doesn't allow the flukes to dig in. You can also try putting about 2 - 3 feet of chain between the anchor and anchor rope which will help make the anchor lay down and bite into the bottom. To free up a Danforth that has bitten in, just position the boat directly over the anchor and pull straight up. Used one on all my sailboats from 23' - 30'. Work great!
  16. Go to the Kayak Fishing Stuff site and do a search on CARTS!! There are many ideas on how to build your own OR go to paddleboy.com and see all the great prefabricated carts that you can buy that are specially made for what you need to do. They are a little on the expensive side, $100 - $200, but they're ready to use. I am making one of the Milwalkee Hand Truck based carts for my 10' Nu Canoe even though I probably won't even need it. Those paddle boats can be picked up and sat on a kayak cart and wheeled about anywhere you want to go. There are ALSO toploader devices that will assist you in loading a boat or kayak on to the TOP of a car/truck/camper. You may have to "improvise, adapt, overcome" (thanks to Clint Eastwood - "Heartbreak Ridge") but I think you'll be able to accomplish what you want with a little ingenuity. IF there's any other help I can render, let me know!
  17. Nightcrawlers, leeches, minnows and most of all LIVE FROGS. There's gotta be tons of them little suckers all over the place around the pond. Hook one through the lips and toss him out into the water on a weighted T-rig and I'd almost bet that you'll get bit big time. Just my thoughts on what I'd do.
  18. I like to fish the tullies (reeds/weeds) along the shoreline and especially near dropoffs! In the early and late hours the topwater bite can be awesome in those areas.
  19. Two - one rigged out for cats on the bottom and the other I use for other species with lures/plastics.
  20. OK, a few more names to consider: Bass Hunter, Bass Seeker, 12' Hard One, Catch & Release 1, Bass Catcher, Mango Tango (I like this one), Git-R-Done (hard to beat that for a fishing boat's name), Bass Slayer, Hawg Slayer, Lunker Plunker, Lunker Hunter, Orange Lunker, Drop Shot, T-Rigged, Bassinator, Bassimatic, Bass Magic, Das Boat, Bass Fever, Addiction, Bass-R-Us, Bassermation, and many others that 11 brewskies currently prevent me from coming up with like Tackle Box, Little Ship of Bass, Bass-bo, Bass In the Box.... I gotta get some sleeeeeeppppppp........Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!) OK: I'm back: with appologies to Raul, Bass Preditor is a great/cool name for a bass boat, IMO:o) There is an almost endless supply of names. Ya gotta just find one that suits your fancy. Now I gotta find a name for my Nu Canoe!! Hey Raul.... can I use your BR ID: Bass Preditor?? Maybe I'll just call it the SS Popeye, that's pretty neat too.
  21. Welcome to BR, the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net!! IF you are asking how to get the pedal boat from the truck to the water AFTER you have gotten to the launch ramp or side of the lake/pond, you might want to check out the numerous variations on small carts that kayakers use to do the same thing with the larger and more cumbersome kayaks. IF you are asking how to get a paddle boat to the water from yout house, I'd recommend a small flatbed trailer like a Red Trailer that you can buy on Ebay rather cheap (but you'll have to assemble it and that can take a couple of days). Hope this helps!!!
  22. Spoons. I got 'em but never use 'em. Can't remember ever catching anything on a spoon and that includes Daredevils!
  23. Yep, 3 1/2 hour football games without all the commercials are only about 1 hour with fastforward on the DVR as are NASCAR races, etc., etc.
  24. Welcome to BR - the BEST bass fishing forum on the Net, IMO!! I really like the Fenwick rods and the HMG in medium heavy would be great for your son. I also like the Pflueger Trion, President, and Supreme spinning reels. You might want to look into them as well as the Diawas.
  25. I have a new Pflueger Patriarch all spooled and mounted on a Light & Tough 6'6" medium heavy rod and as soon as I learn to cast it, I'll let you all know what I think about it. I'm new to BCing and also have a new Diawa Zillion but am so comfortable with my spinning combos that I haven't used either BC'er yet.
