I basically use 1 jig for everything now (except in GRASS), just different weights or sizes depending on water depths and wind conditions. The Rage Lobster is an extremely versatile bait IMO. Although it is a larger than average design, it's not specifically designed only for large fish. It is more for added vibration, larger profile to make it easier to notice from further distances and in less than clear conditions. Another important aspect for this design is more bulk and bigger claws to slow fall rates when needed. The increased size better matches larger profile jigs for deep water structure fishing where often more vibration and larger size is easier for the fish to find regardless of the size of the fish. For those of us who use it regularly, we also have to leave certain spots because the small fish are all over it! The Lobster can be flipped/pitched, T and C-Rigged, Rage Rigged and rigged weightless as a fine top water. I think it's all about what you're used to fishing with confidence. Think about it, how big is a 1/2oz spinnerbait or buzzbait or 8 to 10" Worm... do small fish eat them with regularity, YES. I've also found that small fish often hit the Lobster more aggressively and swim away with it even faster than they do when I'm using the smaller sized Rage Craw. This is either because of their surrounding competition or because they have the full meal deal and now that they've got it... dinner is OVER! I rarely use less than 1/2oz with it for flipping or as a jig trailer and will go as heavy as 1oz tungsten when flipping or even 1.5oz jigs for deep windy conditions. Might try this... 1/4 oz green pumpkin jig with Green Pumpkin Trailer (RT for best results) tip claws with Chartreuse JJ's, 15lb floro on a sensitive med or hvy action rod, Cast-Pitch or Flip in any water 6ft or less (Except bathtubs and swimming pools) Fish much slower than you're probably accustomed to, fish just like it is a T rig soft plastic with a very slow and timid scoot, slide or tiny hop PAUSE etc. That will fix it most likely... and then we will celebrate your success with a TOAST www.ragetail.com

Hey Friends and Family, I was all excited about making my 4th Roadtrip in a row and seeing all of you again... but I got a call last night that changed all of that ;( One of our ProStaff had previously scheduled a show with me here in Tx. and had to move it to our Roadtrip date. I sincerely wish that this wouldn't have happened because I have much more fun hanging with you guys, fishin, B.S'n etc. And believe it or not, the shoots are work and pressure to get things done whereas kicking back with all of you is FUN, Relaxing and a big break from the grind... During last years get together, I remembered finishing up a day of fishing with Roadwarrior and Steezy in my boat when we met Scrutch and his fishing partner on the water. Although we three were having a blast and still telling WILD tales etc., I was wishing Scrutch and Co could fish with us too... Heck I would've just jumped in their boat to ride back to the ramp if I could've, just to HANG, maybe drink a cool one, talk a little SMACK back and forth if you know what I mean ; ) All this to say, I enjoy being with ALL of you more than you know and to me the Roadtrip is our Family Reunion. Please accept my apology and I promise to have a few treats like some packages of my new color Craws waiting for you there and maybe a RT Hat for each you as well... Tug - Tug - Tug your boat... Gently down the Lake She ate a Rage Hawg then TOWED my Boat to deep water! I just held on for the ride Still pitching with a 3/4oz Tour Grade Tungsten, Moaner Stick'r hook, 65# Suffix Braid and a 7'11" Rage Rod by St Croix. For me, there has been a solid flipping bite since late December and I think that the fish actually make me change to this general presentation every year at about the same time. Since I enjoy flipping/pitching probably more than any other style of fishing... I say THANKYOU FISH Notice the dash lines marked on the braid... For years, when the braid lost its color, I just ran a solid color up the line for a couple of feet. A few years ago, Paul Noles mentioned that the dash lines worked for him and I decided to try it Been doing it ever since and I feel it may be even better! I think that the dashes on the line may in fact be harder for a fish to notice or recognize and possibly create a flicker rate scenario that the fish either don't understand or see as a fishermans line. The baits action either while moving or on the fall is what attracts the fish and whether the fish strikes immediately or not, the dashes may add to the flicker rate or amount of movement involved while in motion or possibly be less obvious when sitting still...
