Catching Bigger Bass
3 key thoughts IMO and basically mentioned previously: 1) I am of the opinion that Fast moving baits will catch more fast moving fish and Slow moving baits will catch more slow moving fish... My grandson is young and Fast, I'm old and Slow. 2) Similar theory for using small and large baits. 3) Big fish are normally not with a group of small fish. www.ragetail.com

Asking The Right Questions
Nice post and IMO, you're absolutely correct on all fronts! You were cordial answering his questions after he probably gets closer than he should've, and you kept your cool allowing things to settle catching more fish. Although I fish 99% of the time from a big rig, my style of "slow as you go" is also one of my biggest assets. Believe it or not, I still fish from tube floats, small single or two man crafts etc. and I for sure realize the true benefit of working any given peice of water completely... that's the way you find the spot within the spot. The biggest problem with this style is when the SPEED RACERS see you picking apart any given area for an extended length of time, they always have to investigate and grab a mark... I often move sooner than I would like in those cases. Recently while fishing on a Friday, the lake was packed and there were 11 boats scowling around one of my favorite areas so I avoided it most of the day. Late that evening when I eased past it again and the crowd was down to 6 boats. I told my fishing partner that I would try to slide in, hit a few fish inconspicuously - lol, then head to the ramp. Several other boats scooted by and others were leaving the area going in for the evening. All had been trolling back and forth on the shallow shorelines. Where I was headed, was spot where the boat was in 45ft throwing to 18 and hold the boat there to fish a ledge no longer than 30 yrds. After 5 minutes of goofing around like we were just killing time, I got the position and angle right. We landed 4 fish up to 8lbs in 7 casts, losing one big fish that pulled off while still deep... and all without making a sound or anyone seeing. We eased out just like we came in. When we got to the ramp, a guy walks over and mentioned he saw me come off of plane way out there... then he said "It would have been alright for you to come on in, but there were so many boats around that no one was doing any good" www.ragetail.com

Topwater Soft Baits
This link shows the hooking instructions... 5/0 EWG heavy wire hook great or a screw lock swimbait hook like an 1/8 or 1/4 - 5/0 Moaner weighted Stroker for super long cast or wind conditions. This bait surfaces easily even with a weighted hook. Braid is my choice and when the fish hits, drop the rod tip while continuing to reel up slack, feel the fish and swing for the fence. Try not to over cast or whip the rod tip too aggressively on the cast because it will cause the big tail to start tearing in the bend. Hope that helps and have fun! http://www.ragetail.com/ragetailshad.html - hooking inst. www.ragetail.com

Worst Day Ever!!!!!!!!
That kind of CRAP happens to me more than I like to admit and I'm sure it will continue since I have no plans on giving up yet... And your story sounds so similar to many of my past situations too, I built my own rods for years and always try to keep everything in tip top condition! That kind of stuff makes me sick at my stomach especially when I'm not sure exactly how it happened... All to say "I FEEL YOUR PAIN BRO" www.ragetail.com

Rage Hawg - Hawg!

Yeah RW and I work real hard "AT BEING LUCKY", lol. Hope to see you at the Roadtrip! And NCbassmaster4life, Thanks I have had a good year thus far and I'm blessed to get to fish as much as I do. Jig Modification
Yes, the top photo of a football jig rigged with a trailer, the trailer hook is reversed. Best utilized when the fish are asking for a longer presentation or trailer and it does take some of the movement from the body of the trailer itself, but if the trailer has great claw or appendage action typical to Rage Tails... it works fine. With the hook like this it will hang up more when fishing brush but it is lethal in open water shell, gravel, small rock and open ledges. It is possible to apply the hook in the normal manner too (Photo below) but that requires a longer than normal presentation as well, or smaller trailer hook, plus hanging the trailer from the bend of the jig hook to place the trailer hook point into the trailer body for weedless application. Hangs up less than the other set up. With the Swim Jig CRAZE... it's worth checking out! This technique is not well known at all but I use it when I get several short strikes in a row and feel they're good fish that are striking. Hope that helps! www.ragetail.com

Beautiful Eyes And The Smokin Rooster!!!
I think both because she hadn't spawned as of yet... tail not bruised or raw. The water was clear, 68 degrees, 6 and 7ft is easily shallow enough for bedding but she was in ambush mode. Pitched the Rooster to a cutoff telephone pole at the end of a rocky point. It was an instant Rip'n'Run to deep water so she was eating for sure! I kind of like big bellies... reminded me of my own... maybe I need to spawn too Big O www.ragetail.com
