Your choices in each particular bait presentation should possibly revolve around the amount of water movement, vibration, noise, and possibly be more snag resistant since your lack of vision might result in casts that are in heavy grass or brush. 4/0 to 5/0 "Moaner Weighted Stroker" is my choice and they are screw lock style hooks which add longevity to your bait www.moanerhooks.com These hooks were designed specifically around "Rage Rig" techniques and the weight design is both hydrodynamic and positioned further back on the hook shank to provide a more horizontal fall. Weights of 1/8, 1/4 or 3/8oz. depends on depths, wind and structure type I'm fishing. The 1/4oz is a standard for me and works in most all conditions. Fish it slow like a T-rig bait with slow lift or slide forward and pause. If you use the weighted hooks that are not the screw lock type, you would go down one hook size for a good fit because of the different distances between hook eye and hook point... Hope that helps! As others have mentioned above... Craws are a year around bait choice for me as well. I always have a jig n Craw or Lobster hooked up as well as a flippin rig with a Craw or Lobster on it. Regardless of water temps, depths, color or otherwise... if I have found the fish, they eat the Craws. Plus, you can fish'em any way you want and from top to bottom! Thanks y'all, here's a response from the friend who was fishing with me (Cuatro) from our Rage Talk discussion board... Hey guys this is a trip I will never forget! I watched BIG O pull off the unthinkable... he caught 4 fish on 4 cast that went 40+ I could not believe it!!! I finally had to give him an adult beverage to slow him down long enough to get a chance to cast and get one myself! Took one of my young friends fishing over the weekend and the fish were active We fed them 10" Thumper and Anaconda Worms, then after catching several large model fish we got a few short strikes that bit the entire backend of the worm off I realized they were asking for another profile and presentation so I tied on a 1oz Football jig and RAGE Lobster and it was LIGHTS OUT We had a great time and and managed to ease a few BIG BABES over the side of the boat... That single fish must have been guarding a bed or possibly it was a territorial reaction strike. Usually if you hook'em once, they refuse to bite again! Glad you and your little cousin enjoyed the day... Sounded like a GOOD ONE FOR SURE Big O www.ragetail.com

ETB has all of the right info And never discard the bait if the head wears out, just cut it down as you go or shorten it. His note about dragging bottom is important too, as the tail lifts up during the drag when hooked in that manner. BTW, with Green Pumpkin I have a habit of tipping the tail with Chart. JJ's as I think the little bit of flash it provides helps to draw a few more strikes in some situations... Must be the change in basic coloration or possibly similar to Brim or other natural bait that makes even the most stubborn fish commit. My favorite big worm for big fish in stained, deeper water or when using the RAGE RIG (weighted hook) on top of grass, is still the 10" Anaconda but I have been running short on them lately... Sorry, HIJACK continued... kind of! The type of plastic used in the molding process can weigh different than other same shape and size designs due to density of the different products used. All plastics are not equal and composition varies somewhat. Now for the hijack, as some including Capt. O mentioned, Fall Rate is extremely important and there are many factors to consider to achieve desired sink rate because all plastics are not equal regardless of size, mass or actual measured plastic weight... 1) type of line and line weight or size 2) Wind conditions 3) salt content 4) Total bulk and length of chosen bait 5) water resistance recieved from the designed action of the bait 6) weight of sinker used, if used 7) casted or free fall from flipping technique 8) anglers ability to improve the fall rate thru his or hers control or experience 9) nose weighted presentation (vertical fall) or more horizontal fall from weightless or keel weighted (swimbait hook) 10) hook type and size (EWG vs Standard round bend offset) and wire diameter 11) water depth and temps 12) buoyancy of plastic There are others I'm sure but these are the ones that come to mind right off the top. Regardless of your choice, the majority of fish on any given body of water and given day will definitely have a choice in their preference and your numbers of strikes will OBVIOUSLY reflect that. I try to keep it simple to start with and let the fish tell me their preference once the fish and pattern is found... Basic understanding might be, shallow - slower fall, more depth - faster fall Hope this information is somewhat understandable because Fall Rate is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT in my opinion and I can't say that I would enjoy any fishing experience near as much if I couldn't adjust accordingly. Also I would say that Fall rate and overall bait profile might be equal in priority levels for bait choices. Glad you like'em hatrix and you might ck out *** as well as other distributors that have better prices. Some folks charge more than others and we really have a time keeping them from it. Your thought about screw lock hooks is correct though. I use the Moaner Stroker 5/0 or 6/0 with the 6/0 being my favorite. Sure glad you had a GREAT day and when you get into'em like that...
