  1. I left for Ft. Sill, OK on July 22nd for Basic...Hottest months of my life! Have fun!
  2. I'll second a good hoppy IPA in Winter, but a good wheat is perfect for summer. For those not into "craft" beers, spend some time in Germany and you will have a whole new outlook on what a quality beer tastes like!
  3. EXACTLY. In a 10 incher x3, with the jig on a second rig in case I swing and miss!
  4. Bell's Oberon is a good one, but i'll take a yuengling any day of the year!
  5. X2 on that HOOAH! Where are you headed for BCT?
  6. Never made it to this one myself, but I have heard many folks say the same thing. If/when I am in the area I will have to make it over that way. I have been fortunate enough (during my Army years) to be able to take part in the 60th Anniversary of D-day Memorial in Normandy, France. That was an amazing experience to say the least. This year on June 6th I just happened to be in D.C. for work and was able to make it out to the WWII memorial there.
  7. I'm going to cut and paste this thread into a letter to my county seeking grant funding for me to get one of these units to assist our Search & Rescue dive team. Now I need to figure out how to get them to buy me a boat too...hmmm
  8. Just had a guy come take a CPR course with me who is a Senior at Hopkins, he said he loves it. Its easy to find a good time if you want to, but its not parties on your doorstep each time you want to study. Sounds like a good mix to me! I will be in D.C. next week for work, but I'm meeting up with a friend who is a law Student at JHU, so I'll be sure to ask him the same...if I remember!
  9. That is awesome, congrats to her!
  10. ^ | | I thought for sure that you had some sort of smurf security arrangement going on there! Haha, great looking place...lucky!
  11. Far better than anything I have ever seen in a Hallmark store!
  12. That is wild, let us know who turns up! Those guys will thank you for convincing their bosses they need a new toy though!
  13. I'll second that! If I had to pick a favorite, I'd have to go with Rick Clunn.
  14. pretty cool to have a visual of the map in our heads! It is not perfect, of course, but a great general outline!
  15. Jerk Bait Junkie has me beat for an SC fish, but I figured I would at least put the pic up for my own joy! This one was on a bed and weighed 6 lb 2 oz. My new PB, not bad for only spending 5 days in SC for a wedding! ** this one was from a private pond in Summerville. Later that night a cousin landed one that weighed in at 6 lb 11 oz.
  16. Even kidding around that's not very funny. What if the kid was a relative of yours or someone you knew. Agreed. Some unfunny situations can be made funny by a joke. This, however, is not one of those situations.
  17. jogging a couple/few days a week and spending some time with a heavy bag (punching bag) is great all around cardio & muscle toning.
  18. negative on Korea....I was stationed in Germany, so the booze was even better!
  19. My time in the Army taught me that waterboarding is for interrogation of terror suspects, while beer boarding is strictly for the troops during their down-time, when and if they get any!
  20. exactly! It gives the bait a great profile
  21. That boy looks like he already has the bug! I can't wait to get my little man out fishing, he just turned 2 and loves to chase the cats around the house with his toy rod & reel!
  22. Great fish! I was fishing a pond on Wednesday and spotted a 4-5lber guarding a bed. He would chase the 'gills away, but would shy away from anything I threw at him. The first thing in my head was "I wish I had that mattlures 'gill!"
  23. BUCKEYEone replied to ernel's topic in Tacklemaking
Thanks Reel Mech and RW! I decided to get started on my first rod build project to give to my grandfather as a retirement gift, so I'm going to spend a couple months reading up on as much as I can before I pick a blank and get started!
  24. Haha, I was letting the new tab load as I read your post...good call!
