I've been wondering how exactly everyone breaks the reel speed to technique puzzle down also. I think it mostly comes down to your personal preference.

I would much rather spend my dollars at a ma and pa shop, as long as they know what they are selling! Not only do they typically have most of what I want (and a lot of old stuff no one else has), if they are out, they order it. If I walk up to the counter to ask if they carry XYZ product, and they don't...they find out how to order it (most recently Rage Tail products). I will never buy a rod or reel from a BPS or Cabelas because I know that MOST small shops are hurting because so many people shop online that they will match any deal I can find elsewhere, and there is no shipping. I know if the product fails for any reason they will take it back.

Gary, been to lots of houses that have had the same thing happen during what they thought would be the usual "flash flooding." Pump it out SLOWLY (quick water removal can cause cracks in floor/walls), let it dry and mop bleach/water mix on the floor and walls. Give that furnace some time to dry out in front of a fan and hopefully it is fixable. All- Please take my advice when I say even if you do not have flood insurance, make sure to get the "backed up sewage" rider. Unless you are hit by once in a lifetime flood from a river or lake, 90+% of flood damage in basements will involve backed up sewage. Even if only 10% of the water in the basement IS sewage, you will be covered! I worked with the Red Cross for all of two weeks before I learned that fact and added that sewage rider to my policy!

Horrific for sure. Sounds like witnesses on the ground heard the plane "sputter" before its crash. NTSB will be on scene this morning to determine the cause of the crash.

Sounds like a great guy, would love to spend a day fishing with him!

Agree 1000% on the CXX, I bought that after hearing someone on here speak highly of it, and all I use it for now is backing better line! It has so much memory I don't know if it will ever come off the spool! I think you really just have to try them out and see what you favor.

As an American Red Cross Emergency Services manager for two counties, you better believe that I watched the storm like a hawk! In our area we had trees fall through three houses, windows and siding off of a few businesses/buildings, and a 20 car train derailment in addition to the 7,500 without power through the night. Its been a busy 24 hours!..and yesterday was my wife's birthday...yikes!

I picked up a few packs of tubes from Venom Lures that have a "now with Megastrike fish attractant formula" sticker on them. I'm guessing this is probably the old stuff? Any sense in applying the new stuff to a bait that has the formula already in/on it?

sounds to me like you stayed the course a lot longer than I would have! As stated above, at least they have good customer support, but if the products never work that doesn't do much good! Time for you to take up scuba!

This is the time of year I usually hop online and buy my new fishing license. Ohio's expires on the 28th of Feb, but on the website they show nothing for this year yet. I guess they are still debating how much more to charge me this year, anyone else having a similar problem?

Jerkbaits have done very well for me, and I've had some good early season bites on lipless cranks, too...even with chunks of ice floating by!

If you requested it a while ago I would do it again. I don't know if they "lost" the list from a while back or what, but I had to go online and request one for a second time after I noticed my little brother had his pretty well broken in by mid-jan! I requested it and it was there in a week or two

Again tough call between Ike and Zona, zona definitely has the best "tv host personality" but Ike is just a great guy and one of my favorite pros. I really liked the episode of City Limits when Ike stopped and bank fished with some random kid. Zona got my vote. ...that being said, if I ever happen to find myself driving by Charlie Moore's house by accident, I would feel compelled to stop and steal his boat and trailer. Any goon who calls himself the "codfather" can keep his annoying tail on land.

Any lure I throw right now would be worked on the topwater, simply because of the 8" of ice still on the lakes! Believe me, if I could find a spot that had open water, I would be perfectly happy just TRYING to catch fish!

Had to bring this back to the surface after a weekend conversation with a friend who has worked as a coach with Phelps. No doubt he is amazingly talented, but this friend said that no coach likes working with him. He does his own thing, and when you push him (ie: training) he throws a tantrum and yells and cusses at his coaches and has walked out on many practices and training sessions. I have no problem with anyone smoking pot on their own time, athlete or not, but I do have a problem with a guy who is an A$$ just because no one will put him in his place.

I keep all my hooks/weights/beads/swivels/snaps organized in a plano double sided box. Works great for keeping things organized at home. Whenever I head out I just grab a few of whatever I think I may need and throw it in a smaller box.

Finally talked the ladies at my local bait shop into ordering some Rage Tail products (despite the business being for sale...anyone want a cheap bait shop near the water?). They said the lobsters, lizards, and 10" anacondas were on backorder from bps so I bought a couple pack of the 7"
