  1. hahaha, this may be the most effective approach!
  2. love the action, too bad they dont have the dirty shad color in stock! Let us know how that works for you
  3. black is always a great color, but I havent had too many fish shy away from the brown/green/orange combo either
  4. Congrats on 31!!!
  5. Alright I jumped on this bandwagon, too. My wife and I quit smoking as of Monday 10/13. We are both "using" the nicotrol inhaler, I have hardly used mine, but she is still using hers quite a bit. We have both smoked for about 10 years, so its great to finally be able to say we quit. My extra cash has definitely gone to the baitmonkey...plenty of new jigs to throw!
  6. the copy I read was free from the library...check that out. Ike's book is not one you will re-read dozens of times, so a couple weeks out of the library is perfect!
  7. I almost put in a bid on that same pair of rods! Not bad at all
  8. Nothing to worry about, just take better care of that sammy so it doesnt end up like the red eye
  9. is this a serious question?
  10. No yahoo from me, but I did join other forums, but I got sick of having to read through 10 posts of guys bickering and name-calling before someone even came close to answering any questions. I think I am still a member for 4 or 5 sites, some local, that I have not been on in about a year. BR is the last stop for me!
  11. I found the same info about a year ago on weather.com, and I have found that it does work...when i am trying to convince my wife that I need to go fishing from 6am to about 9 rather than just going after lunch! Other than that, I have not found any significant value to the tables.
  12. haha, always good to hear that the military is still dosing out the unknown medications to troops! I do miss always having about 6 to 10 of the 800mg Ibuprofin bottles sitting around though!
  13. Russ- Keep at it buddy. Your about one week ahead of me. I got the nicotrol inhaler to help with the urges and still fulfill the habit. The doc thinks chantix would be a better route, but I told him I want to try this first. I got the inhaler about two weeks ago, but we were in the middle of buying a house and moving, so that was my "good reason" to push my quit date back. I have decided that this weekend will be my last time smelling like nasty cigarette butts! Keep at it! >>I am definitely going to put my $4 a day I save on not buying cigs into my bait monkey fund!
  14. Since we just bought a new house with a nice big garage/shop my main hobby is home repair/renovations and woodworking...Just got the pool table and "lure desk" up in the garage, so as long as I turn a saw on now and then and occasionally finish a room in the house I only have to enter the house to eat and sleep! j/k of course, my wife knows what I'm doing at all times!
  15. I live midway between lima and columbus and fish local lakes (indian lake, farm ponds, great miami) I was out on the 1st and got maybe one bite on a crank near shore, but I think I landed about 8 total largemouth between 1-3 lbs within two hours throwing the rage tail craw, texas rigged. I would just work it at an angle about 5-10 feet from shore and they wouldnt stop hitting that thing! That was my best two hours of the year!
  16. It is actually pretty good stuff, if you like Sam Adams I think it has a similar, but slightly sharper taste. Good stuff from Budweiser!
  17. that is good stuff! My secretary is 88 years old...no worries here!
  18. It sounds like I'll be speaking with you all in about 3 weeks (unless you are one of those who stick behind to meet ol' Ike!)
  19. Maybe I've got a little bit of tree-hugger-esque attitude, but I dont see why we shouldn't work to be more energy independent and I certainly don't see why a big part of that energy cant be harnessed from naturally occurring WIND. We have a huge debate going on in our area over a wind farm being put in our area. It would bring in tax dollars, provide inexpensive energy, provide jobs, and its CLEAN. Too many people dont want to ruin the view from their country homes. I think I would feel a lot better about looking out my window and seeing a windmill and knowing we are helping clean our environment!
  20. I started bass fishing less than two years ago. My first combo was a crappy quantum spinning reel with a quantum ML 2pc. rod. This spring I purchased a nice Daiwa megaforce baitcaster with a daiwa procyon (M) rod, which I love. I decided to upgrade the junk spin set-up a little bit, so I bought a Abu Cardinal spin reel, which works well, but I definitely need to upgrade the rod. My budget is fairly thin, so I dont want to spend more than maybe $80 on a decent rod to pair up with the cardinal 102. Any advice would be great. I generally use the spin setup for finesse type applications and light tackle. Thanks all...
  21. Good luck Bud! Have some fun out there!
  22. I think you topped my collection of arrowheads with this one! Great find, awesome story!
  23. It is sounding like Gustav is going to dump a ton of rain, so the winds MAY not be spectacular, but I heard the weather channel guy say that Jamaica may get 1-2 FEET of rain from this TS! As a sidenote, for those of you in the hurricane path, or for those with family members (especially the elderly) who have concerns about keeping contact with family members, register with the Red Cross "Safe and Well" system at www.redcross.org or call 1-800-red-cross. This will enable families affected or displaced by the storm to update their families current location/status via the Red Cross. This is a great way to keep tabs on loved ones, and to let concerned family members know you are okay after the storm!
  24. I have often wondered the same thing, and I think that if it were me, I would say "just let it be my time" rather than seeking desperate medical approaches to simply delaying the inevitable, but there are certain instances where I would change that opinion. For instance, my wife's grandfather died 10 days before our wedding, I know if there had been a "well, we could try this" treatment he would have taken it just to see his granddaughter walk down the isle, and I think I would to if that were the case. Its a fine line no matter how you look at it and what your personal feelings are.
  25. I got the email yesterday, the Red Cross is already sending volunteers! It would be my luck to get called up for my first national disaster right as we have our offer on a new home accepted! My wife can move everything on her own, right??? To those of you interested in tracking weather: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ Great website we use for great weather info!
