It is the fastest growing sport in ‘Murica - It’s like playing ping pong while standing on the table.
  2. CXX or Yozuri Hybrid in 15 or 17 lb up to 3 oz. 20 lb up to 6 oz, and three Advil for anything over that. Tried braid to leader and straight braid and there’s just very little room for error with almost no benefit. I’ve had precious few Swimbait bites that weren’t obvious on CXX, and most of those were dragging a Hudd.

I used to be fairly immune. Found out the hard way in 2020 that I was no longer immune. Both forearms and a good chunk of the side of my stomach where I probably brushed my arm against under a t-shirt. Kept it clean and washed a couple/3 times a day. Not pleasant but didn’t die.
  4. Saw a pair of nesting blue herons, then a beaver up close, then a pair of owls tonight on a walk with the wife. We live in the middle of Charlotte- it was the craziest 20 min of wildlife I’ve seen in a long time!
  5. I always liked Tellico and lakes upstream from there on the Little T, but I don’t think you can go wrong in East TN. Melton Hill is my other fav.
  6. Nucanoe Frontier or the replacement that just came out (I don’t remember the name ). I’ve had a Frontier for almost 7 years, it’s a really great boat solo or tandem.
  7. I was kayaking on Calderwood Lake on a sunny warm early summer afternoon when a thunderstorm blew right down the lake. Temp dropped about 20 degrees and I made for shore as the wind blew me down lake. Pulled my boat up enough and hid in a cave while it absolutely raged. It was like watching a hurricane. I had to build a little fire since the temp dropped and I was not outfitted for 50 degrees and wet.
  8. That’s it - it’s impossible to give good advice without a video or something
  9. It’s a very similar substance to plastic, stretched into fibers and woven. Cotton is the original breathable, and not an insulating layer. Totally been there in a deer stand with a sweaty cotton t-shirt, freezing to death. There’s nothing better in a hot summer in Memphis though.
  10. Does it do it with the spool off?
  11. I’ve been running a 55 ah one with my 55 lb 12v trolling motor for a couple years now in my 1467. The weight savings is great in the small boat, especially with the TM battery up in the bow. I got a cheaper one if Amazon, but can’t seem to find what it was I bought.
  12. 5 minutes? I rip it duct taping my boots before I’m even zipped up!
  13. 3 seed - GBO!!!’
  14. I would respectfully disagree with your disagreement and will keep it with the auto analogy ? -6.1 is like saying ‘sedan’. There are many other things that go into performance and comfort, with each manufacturer having their own unique characteristics. Pertinent to this discussion would be spool size and IPT, which would truly give a measure of performance. Some 6.1s are faster than others. But sedans do many things well and nothing great, except for Taurusi. Definitely not a Taurus.
  15. Ford…Chevy…Toyota… different things for different people who fish differently
  16. Fill my boots up with sand, put a stiff drink in my hand… then dump me overboard. I’ll be fine!
  17. Probably at least a 35/3500 series - I have a Pflueger Supreme XT on a Swimbait rod with similar specs. It does double duty dragging for catfish sometimes. I use 40 lb braid but you could probably go 30 or 50 depending on what you’re catching and how you fish. I wouldn’t do mono but that’s just, like, my opinion.
  18. What’s the weight the rod can handle? That should be something like 1-3 oz
  19. You ever tried breading them in crushed up potato chips (really, really good) or cool ranch Doritos (change your life)?
  20. What Tom said. That’s why you have a drag. In a kayak, keep the rod on the same side of the boat as the fish, usually you can take the tip around the front. Let them pull you around, it’s just another big drag. Have a net - don’t futzle with big fish boat side on small line. You will lose, often. And it will make you sad directly proportionally to the size of fish and cost of lure you broke off.
  21. Game gets its flavor from its age, diet, and how you treat it after it’s down. Within reason, shot placement has little effect on it (gut shots being a significant exception). How you cook it also plays a huge role. You can take a significant amount of grey matter out and the heart will still beat for a startling amount of time.
  22. Let the anger flow through you…. And the use it for a good workout! You’ll never win against Mother Nature, Father Time, or their idiot son Murphy, so do what you can to channel it.
  23. You ever see swamp rabbits? The first one I ever saw looked approximately the size of a kangaroo. I missed. Twice.
  24. I thought that halftime show was fantastic and up there with some of the best I’ve seen. Good to see Dre and Snoop back together, and I thought California Love was apropos. Everyone else was just meh. the game was good but I wish the refs had continued to keep the whistles in their pants at the end. Best team probably won, but it was close. Every super bowl should have a villain though. We just had several feel good stories in this one And A LOT of SEC players in high-leverage positions… #bestconference #onlyrealcollegefootball
  25. Great read!
