  1. I use the same clips on bigger tackle and never had an issue. They are quick and easy to use.
  2. It didn't!! "Temporarily out of stock."
  3. I like them. ?
  4. Also get yourself a cheap pair of longnose pliers, maybe 8 or 12 inches. I buy the cheap ones from Harbor Freight but keep them oiled. They rust easily. You don't want to get your fingers near those teeth especially when you are trying to remove a big treble. I use spoons mostly for pike but I have been attaching a big twister tail to the spoons. It makes for a bigger target and more action. The Johnson Silver Minnow is a favorite and there is only one hook to deal with. When I'm trolling I vary the speed. If I'm casting to an area I think holds a fish I'm usually retrieving fast enough to keep the lure out of the cover and that is usually not very fast.
  5. Big flashy in-line spinners with some bucktail.
  6. I just started using spy baits so I'll offer my opinion based on very limited experience. To me spybaits and jerkbaits are similar but different. I think they complement each other, especially in some of the places I fish. I can fish a jerk bait and work it in almost the same position. For instance over a rock pile. I can keep the bait in almost the same position over that rock pile. I have to keep the spybait moving or it will sink into those rocks but I can move it very slowly at different depths over the rocks. I'm able to present two different presentations to the same fish and I can fish both lures slowly in the water column above the fish. That slow part is a plus. I think the Bait Monkey may have gotten me again. ☺️
  7. That rates a WOW! That looks like an HO scale swimbait. ☺️
  8. Thank you!! The name Airex is also very familiar. I wish I still had them for conversation purposes.
  9. I agree! I would definitely talk to them about it. If they say there is no issue get a name and record the date and time in case there is an issue in the future.
  10. Yea! We all know how that works out. ?
  11. I use my anchors frequently in lakes just as often as I do in rivers and creeks. I do have to deal with wind up here and anchors are my answer. Unfortunately, I cannot afford power poles and use anchors to position over/near a particular spot. A cheaper solution but it works.
  12. I just looked for the Luxor but I do not have it. It was inoperable and I probably trashed it. I also remember having a reel shaped like the Luxor that was painted green. That is gone also. I do have the Mitchell 302 and the Ryobi. The Ryobi does have the pin bail and the 302 has the regular bail on it now but there is an extra roller bail with it.
  13. I had and may still have a Mitchell 302 with a pin for a bail. I used it and the Ryobi for stripers off the beach and the jetties. I'll look in the morning and see what's there.
  14. I use to hang a local gun shop. One of the other guys who hung there was a doctor and a gourmet cook. He said he would make snapper soup for all of us if someone would bring him a snapper. I fished for carp in a local state park pond. I often had snappers take my cornmeal and I'd drag them up on the shore and cut the line. It was decided I'd supply Doc with a snapper. I hit the pond a few days later and toss out my cornmeal. In a few minutes, I have a big snapper on. This was going to be easy! I get my machete ready and start pulling the turtle toward shore. I get him up on shore and pull on the line with my left hand to get the neck out and as I'm getting ready to swing the machete I hear a bunch of young voices right behind me. I turn to find about 10 or 12 Cub Scouts who came over to see what I caught. I look at the kids and the turtle and decided the turtle was getting a reprieve. I cut the line rather than the turtle's neck and the turtle retreated back into the pond. The Cub Scouts thought it was great. I didn't catch another turtle or carp that day.
  15. Or fish it as a Float & Fly.
  16. I had a Luxor like that. I may still have it stashed downstairs. I also have a Ryobi with half bail.
  17. You would need a line thrower to cast it.
  18. I always used the AR on my spinning reels. I just purchased a Stradic and a Vanford that do not have an AR. I thought it was going to be an inconvenience but in a few minutes, I adapted. You can teach an old dog new tricks!?
  19. Where do you fish.....the city dump? ?
  20. Even at 25% off the Edge boxes are expensive.
  21. Very interesting!
  22. A plain old blade bait with no trailer. Smaller, compact and deadly.
  23. I use them often to mark various features, edges etc. I also have spotlock but I find the bouy is better, especially in open water. I can drop one on top of a single rock or a couple along the edge of a rock pile and I'll always know my orientation without having to refer to my electronics.
  24. Yes, but have you ever read a study that specifically addresses fishing lines? I cannot recall one. We know fish react to aerial predators. So were the fish reacting to the fishing line or the shadow or movement of the line anticipating a threat? BTW we are getting off the subject.
