  1. Sure they can. They have documented bass can feel vibrations. I have never seen a test regarding bass and fishing line. Bass and colors and other objects yes but not a fishing line. But the real question is can bass feel vibrations from music generated by a radio in a boat and does it affect them in any way?
  2. It should not be irrelevant but should be considered. We do not know if bass can see a fishing line or if they care about it. We do know that bass can feel vibrations as in sound vibrations and we do know radios can produce sound vibrations in a boat. I'd like to know IF the vibrations generated by music played in a boat could be heard/sensed by fish and if it has any effect on them and what that effect might be.
  3. The OP's question has me wondering. Sound is nothing more than vibrations through a medium like air or water. I wonder if anyone has done a study about how a sound like music affects fish.
  4. If he keeps up there will be no secrets left but there will still be plenty of bass left. ?
  5. Make that a double WOW!
  6. I just read this. Very interesting. It looks like the one I have was the last version made after 1966. Definitely more fishable than collectible. ?
  7. I purchased a small box of old plugs at a fishing flea market years ago. This one was in the box. I keep saying I should try them but I haven't. I agree I think they will still catch fish.
  8. I was looking through some lures and found this old Mudbug.
  9. I have a similar lure except for the eyes and missing hook hanger but it is not in great condition.
  10. That tells us a lot. ? Seriously I compare everything to Shimano and almost always end up buying Shimano.
  11. WOW!!! I think I'm going to do the Walmart tour tomorrow.
  12. I doubt it. When I hook a SM and bring it up to the boat I often have other SM follow it right up. That other SM are supposed to be "warned off" by an excretion I have to call BS on that one. ?
  13. I was fishing Lake Heney in Quebec a few years ago. I fished this lake often and knew it fairly well. It was in early May and there was a late thaw. The lake was much higher than normal. I went to one area I knew and the lake was way over the bank and up on a homeowner's lawn maybe 30 or 40 yards and 1 to 2 feet deep. We started casting where the water's edge normally was and we caught bass. I then started casting up on the lawn and started catching more bass. My son was with me and we joked that no one would believe we were catching bass on some guy's lawn....but we were.
  14. I know how you feel. I had to mount my transducer when I first got the boat about 20 years ago. Drilling the first holes was nerve-wracking. I have changed sonar units at least four times since then and the holes never line up. I got used to drilling and plugging.
  15. They will probably not be able to use the same holes. If they fill the holes with a good epoxy like Marine-Tex and a blind rivet there should be no issue. The aluminum transom on my boat is probably half Marine-Tex because of the different mounts used over the years and I have no leaks or issues.
  16. I have a clown Rogue that has lost much of its paint to toothy fish. It's one of those lures that catch fish. And now that you mention it I do not know why I don't throw it more except for the fact I have many newer jerk baits I fish with. I guess it's time to put it in my box.
  17. There is plenty of LM habitat in the St. Lawrence. Most of the bays on the south side like Goose Bay hold LM. There were many good areas for LM on the Canadian side especially just east of Rockport. In addition, many of the individual islands were favorable habitats for LM. There are many islands that are rock with deep water on the west end that draw SM but the downstream or protected sections of those islands especially those with coves have low water with silt accumulation and weeds which attract LM. And there are many low areas between islands that have similar conditions.
  18. I don't target them but if I did I would start with Jar's suggestion. I do catch a few on those baits while fishing for other species. I did catch a little one yesterday on a Duo Spinbait 80. It was most welcomed. It kept the skunk away.
  19. For a couple of the backlashes posted you would need a hedge shear. ✂️
  20. I thought about your question a little more and let me offer this. Maybe ten or more years ago I would have definitely said the LM would most likely be the larger fish on average. But today the SM are trending bigger than they were ten years ago because of the goby invasion. I guess having 3, 4 and 5 pound both LM and SM bass is a good problem to have.
  21. It's less depressing than talking about the cost of fishing gear. ?
  22. Around here a dozen eggs is $5 and up as of yesterday. They went up a dollar in the past week.
  23. So right! The different areas, "structure" and "cover" stand out on the St. Lawrence. Fishing for either is easy up there, just look around.

As stated above my experience has been just the opposite. But your post has me wondering. Every once in a while I find a lure that just catches fish while similar or identical lures catch nothing. Maybe when the water warms I'll fish a couple of Stunnas side by side to see if the one I fish with most draws more bites than the others.
  25. That is quite an accomplishment! ?
