  1. if its fiberglass, just get a can of the resin and spread it with a puddyknife and sand it after dry. This may also work with the plastic canoes
  2. QB fishing shirts are awesome. Its not about advertisement. Its about looking the part and having confidence and having fun.
  3. A jerkbait with rattles to me sounds as loud as a rattle trap underwater. Well almost. "The book" is full of lies. Read with caution!!
  4. Thanks guys. One more question, what guage should I use?
  5. so you NY and NJ folks had to suck it up and put down $80 for an out of state fishing license. Ouch. Sorry for our greedy, messed up state.
  6. I retrieved my buddies carrot stick baitcaster combo 3 weeks after he lost it in 10' water by dragging around a treble hook for 45 minutes. I lost a st. croix rod. It just fell out of my hands then jumped in to grab it and luckily I got it.
  7. can I use this wire? http://lurepartsonline.com/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=844 to make these? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0012129112947a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=weedless+hooks&Ntk=Products&sort=all&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fsearch%2Fsearch-box.jsp.form1 Does the surflon keep its shape to suit my needs?

    thats awesome looking nice work
  9. Does anyone know what kind of wire I can used to custom make weedguards on 3/0 hooks? Thanks.
  10. they could be in 6" water under overhanging brush or out in 8' water. Fish what you know until you locate them. Don't throw deep cranks if you don't have confidence in it. I like to find weeds that are growing and emerging and I like the rattletrap and spinnerbait idea. Post back after your first day on the water and refine you post with your observations for more help.
  11. that bass was after the powerworm I guess ;D
  12. I was in a bed fishing tourney 2 years ago and before the event the coordinator said any fish that looks foul hooked, the bag will be DQed. I got a bass off a bed legally and it had a fresh scar on its face so I had to release it. That sucked. Oh well.
  13. nice! I once took a BPS catalogue and circled every size and color of everything on my list to make it fool proof. All I got was a shirt and tie
  14. just get out there and fish! throw everything is it prespawn time there or what? Start with the weeds and throw a senko :-? can you estimate the wtr temp?
  15. I use a 7' med St Croix Premier and I love jerkaits in the spring and fall.
  16. one more thing I thought of. Because it is a big lake the water temp varies alot in the coves vs. the main lake. So they will be spawning somewhere. if its a cold spring goto the small shallow which warm first for largemouth. If its a warm spring and the coves are done spawning, stay on the main lake for smallies or bigger coves. If its post spawn hit the points with deep cranks and dropshots. If all else fails rattletrap the emerging grassy flats in the coves in. Just so you know there are alot of smallmouth in the larger coves too. If the smallmouth are spawning don't get stuck on one fish that won't bite unless its huge. Cover lots of water and search for CTs finest.
  17. I like the moment you set the hook and see if it loads up or "swing and a miss". The load up part is the one I like
  18. sounds like spawn to me. try the smallest, shallowest coves if the wtr temp is still cool. That whole lake is loaded with fish. A big bag can come from anywhere. If you prefish, just find an area that looks good for spawn or prespawn. basically pick a cove and dissect it. there are big areas choked up with milfoil in the summer so it should be emerging nicely in June. That stuff even grows in 17' water in the big coves. theres usually a few feet visibility--like average clarity for CT. That lake also has lots of points big and small that run deep into 30'. the other cool thing is the big humps that are 20-30' in 50' water. not sure thats the best pattern in June, but Aug through the fall works well for smallmouth dropshotting if you find some bait balls on the humps. good luck
  19. Dicks and Cabelas will usually have half price rods this time of year. Last years models. If you do get a baitcaster a 6:1 ratio is a good all around reel. I prefer Shimanos. Where do you usually fish?
  20. you're welcome I just came across it by accident and thought I'd pass it along. I'm not sure if they clean up the metal or not but even if they do, there will still be some missed. Just have to be careful not to wreck your line on the rusty stuff.
  21. Heres a new spot no one knew of before http://www.comcast.net/video/raw-video-bridge-demolished/1371342440/Comcast/1371221966/
  22. if a lake is private it should recieve no state or federal funding like stocking or surveys. why not fish it anyway and tell them to call the cops and then show the cops documentation on how its a public lake. Its in the anglers guide right?
  23. I do venison on my smoker using ground meat and flatten it into patties and sprinkle some kosher salt. I smoke it until its almost dry, maybe 4 hours. Then dehyrate it until crispy. Its sooo tender and more flavorful than any marinades I made. I'm hungry now!!
  24. I fish the hula grubs in the CT river in the wood on the banks. I texas rig it weedless with 1/4 oz in medium flowing water. heavier in fast water and 1/8oz in slack water. Sometimes I just let it tumble on the bottom and sometimes I just shake or hop it. black or green pumpkin for me
