  1. DUNKIN DONUTS! DUNKIN DONUTS!!
  2. Kidding. I prefer a much shorter rod for poppers and walking baits. I also want it to faster, not slower in action. - pretty much the complete opposite of a cranking rod. You're using down strokes and twitches to move the bait, and a x-fast tip gives you better control than a floppy cranking stick. Shorter rods won't be splashing in the water, as well. The bonus is that this type of rod works well for jerkbaits, short range spinnerbaits, and even skipping unweighted plastics, so it's gonna get some use. My rod is a SC Avid AC62MXF. I've had several reels on this, and reel doesn't matter. Currently have an OG Zillion on it with 30# Tuf-Line Supercast.
  3. The message here is slow down. Had this one person just slowed down, my friend wouldn't be in this predicament.
  4. 1. Should I connect directly to the lure or to the split ring? I cut the split ring off and connect direct. Around 2/3 of my cranks have a snap on them already. 2. If I do connect to the lure direct, will it hurt to leave the split ring on in case I ever need to use it without a snap for some reason? It may foul more frequently. 3. What kind of difference in action to you notice from one to the other? None.
  5. A friend's tank, back when I had nice gear:
  6. I dig the flat brim hat, but the Devilhorse weekend T is awesome.
  7. It's easier to use a live well if you want to take a good photo. The fish can rest in the live well, while you get the camera and any measuring devices ready, rather than stressing it out keeping it out of the water.
  8. You only got one, or do you only like one of them?
  9. In NY, your legal limit is 5 to keep, but you can have 6 in the boat if you are culling. It would not be unusual to have 20 or more fish in and out of the well on a decent fall day. All of those fish are certainly relocated.

  11. No advice, just wishing you a speedy recovery. We're all here if you need a pick me up.
  12. Roller bearing stuck? Anyway, still using my Performa spinner after several years, with no maintenance other than a drop of oil on the roller bearing every couple months.
  13. Silstar/Pinnacle did a lot of OEM private label reels. The old Gander Mtn. line were Pinnacle, too.
  14. They pretty much backed out of the American bass market. Silstar is still around, though. I have a bunch of their rods and reels, mostly high end stuff, that is still in my usual rotation. It's held up well.
  15. Berkley Powerbait Trout dough uses the same formula as trout chow, and works pretty well.
  16. @A-Jay to clear on the topic, bass angling is prohibited from Dec. 1 until the 3rd Saturday in June. See p. 24 Region 5 rules, and Region 6 Jefferson Co. p. 34. http://www.eregulations.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/18NYFW_LR2.pdf

That's like my back yard. It faces north, and there's a portion that never gets any sun, lol.
  18. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to explain this.
  19. I switch species, and fish for winter steelhead.
  20. A friend of mine has a 175 with a 75. No problems there.
