  1. I can't think of a single time any of these stats mattered, though it is winter. For the OP, the easiest thing to do, is get a line counter, and start reeling line on each reel. They're inexpensive, and what I use when I feel like measuring what's actually on the reel.
  2. ^ all that, plus 7 oz. reels aren't for the limp wristed, I guess!
  3. You probably want a high speed reel. The rest depends on WHAT you're ripping through grass.
  4. We're all behind. It's winter. Haven't even looked at my reels yet!
  5. Let's keep this in one thread for now:
  6. Philly doesn't have the refs on their payroll....
  7. If you didn't have the adjustable mount, the manufacturer intends you to attach the unit directly to the boat.
  8. There was crime in 1955, too.
  9. It'll work. I prefer a faster taper, like X-Fast, but many like the slower action of a cranking stick.
  10. Better, get both, and do a comparo. In general terms, Fenwick makes a good, fairly priced product. The lunkerstik will likely perform decently, hold up well, and get the job done. The Legend Glass is made by skilled American craftsmen, with top quality components, and carries a strong warranty/replacement program. Customer service at SC is well known to be very good.
  11. How do most comparisons end up when you compare an item to another costing three times as much?
  12. Sorry, this last post has some erroneous terms and explanations. I fish with Maico, and have used his reels. It may be best to sit back, listen, and learn rather expound on your "limited knowledge of DC reels." Your words. DC doesn't work the way you're describing.
  13. That's the risk you take up front buying JDM gear.
  14. Seriously, it's got to be defective or something else is going on.
  15. I fished with fluorescent mono for years in daylight and night with no issues. If it's working, stick with it.
  16. Hate to say it, but this will be Philly's trophy case after the SB:
  17. Contact Shimano. It's a warranty issue. Return for exchange.
  18. Th FG knot has really been more of a pain, and not worth all the hassle over tying a simple Alberto. Sometimes for lighter spinning applications, I just use a triple surgeon's knot - even simpler!
  19. If I tongue hook a fish in a tournament, I leave the hook in until just before weigh in. When I do remove the hook, I cut the point and barb off, carefully remove the hook, and hope for the best, though it's doubtful it will live.
  20. I go dry. Easier to maintain, and most consistent, though not as smooth feeling as greased.
  21. Right? Fog mid 40s and rain this morning. The nearly three feet of snow is almost gone. Have some flooding issues from all the creeks around here.
