How much will you drop on a pair of sneakers?
I had bunion surgery back in November. I have high arches and insteps. I go to a specialty store in Annapolis, MD called Foot Solutions. I have a pair of Brooks sneakers that cost $170 with a $60 insert. I am going next weekend to get a pair of casual dress shoes to the tune of $350, plus the $60 insert, they are hand made. My feet and knees hurt daily (and nightly) for me, worth every penny.

Ott Defoe and Derek Remit
My partner and I drove to Houma, Louisiana to fish for reds two years ago. On the way down and on the way back, we fished Guntersville with The Wolverine. Good time, great fisherman, good kid. He had just had his kid back then and was taken time from the tour and guiding on Guntersville to be with his new family. My prayers to Derek and his family.

Towing 101
Customers always offer to help at the end of a trip. I always thank them and kindly refuse help. You have a routine and someone "helping" can throw the routine off causing you to forget something important.

Best buzzbait?
Two years ago we fished Guntersville with Derek Remitz. The go-to buzzbait was The Booger Man buzzbait. If I had known they didn't make them any longer, I would have bought all they had. But, I know a guy. I guy who now owns the molds and is producing them. He produces a number of different discontinued baits.

KISTLER ROD BROKE
What IABASS8 said. CALL Trey Kistler.

What's worse than having your heart broken?
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him a bait casting reel. Abraham Lincoln, I think. I can't tell you how many clients tell us that purchased and used a baitcast reel once, and only once...

advice on taking new fisher women out
You'll need a "Groover". What is a "Groover" you ask? It is a five gallon bucket that is used for a lady to well, you know... When they stand up, it leaves "groove" on their backside. Hence, a "Groover"

My fishing partner just signed his will...
I have a customer in my M-F job that also hires me to take him fishing. Two years ago he brought along his dad. When his dad got out of their truck, he was wheeling oxygen and he was a big fella. Once we got him into his seat on the boat, he didn't move but once to stand and pee. He fished all afternoon surrounded by three extra bottles of oxygen. Early the next spring one Monday morning, the son called me at my office. He always emailed orders so a call was odd. He wanted to tell me his dad died that weekend. Fishing with me the previous summer was the last time his dad ever fished and the last they fished together. He said his dad never stopped talking about that trip until the day he died. He wanted to tell me what it meant to his dad and to him. I'll always remember that trip and that call. Please, get an old fisherman out to fish, it will mean more than you know.

Tipping a Guide
Tips are always greatly appreciated. People don't realize the expenses guides incur behind the scenes. Boat(s), fuel and tackle aside, some states required licenses. I guide on the Potomac River in MD. I carry a USCG Six Pack Captain's license, a state of Maryland resident guides license, a Potomac River Fisheries Captain's license and the stickers for TWO boats so that customer's do not need a license. Did I mention insurance? Both liability and comprehensive? You can see why tips are greatly appreciated. Work hard and bust your butt is all you can do. Sometimes the fish win. My partner and I both run Minn Kota Power Drives with remote control. Customer's fish, guides guide. My partner and I fished Guntersville two weekends in row with an Elite Series angler who shall remain nameless. He fished ahead of us. He caught the biggest and most fish. His tip suffered as a result.

I bought one last month when they were 21% off. I believe that sale is done. I'd buy another if it was still 21% off.

Diverticulitis
21 days in the hospital and it is great to be home. I ended up needing surgery which I had last Tuesday. I was discharged Saturday. PICC and JP in place still, hoping to have them both removed Thursday. I lost 20 pounds. I am moving from full liquids into soft solid food very well. (food goes in, waste comes out with no issues or hang ups) I am (was) a very muscular person and now I don't recognize myself. I want to keep trim but, I need to put some density back in my musculature. My shirts now hang on my upper body like they are hanging from a clothes hanger.

Kistler Helium 3 7'0 ML
Read both specs sheets. Avid is an intermediate modulus graphite and the Helium is high strain modulus graphite. That is where it begins. The Avid would most likely be better compared with the KLX. I fish both and the Helium is far more sensitive.
