  1. My partner and I have guided for them for the last 12 years. At the beginning, it was difficult to generate any love for them. Now, go to Youtube and search "snakehead fishing", nothing but LOVE! Awesome fish and tastes great ta boot.
  2. Especially when first getting the boat out, some type of insect has crawled it and blocked the line up with their larve.
  3. Smoother than 832 and lower diameter in comparison. Nothing bad at all to say about 832, I just tried something new. For finesse, I was able to go from 6# 832, to 8# X9. Higher break strength with an even smaller diameter.
  4. 832 for years, moved to X9 last year. No regrets so far.
  5. A 16 year old thread? I like it. I got to be reminded of some names that were once seen everyday on BR again. When I first saw it, LBH was the first thing I saw and thought he had dropped in out of the sky for a visit...
  6. If it didn't hurt... then yeah.
  7. My Flippin Stick is old school, Castaway HG40 Bud Pruit, heavy power, parabolic action. It just has the right "feel", for that application.
  8. I starting thinking in terms of true BFS and "bass" BFS, I go with rods with the low end lure weight right at 1/16 oz.
  9. I just had a couple custom rods made for lures rated down to 1/16 oz. by a custom builder in PA. You'll be pleased big time by what you get for what you pay. JLS Custom Rods. I use a Scorpion BFS, I tie on a Reaction Innovation Lil Dipper (literally tie on a dipper with no hook) and cast in the yard with ease.
  10. Same thing with my Symtres, I sent the one DVT for some adjustments. We'll see how it works out.
  11. With a 50% discount, get one of each and compare!
  12. I was at a Bass Pro Shops Classic seminar years ago. I believe it was Bobby Murray (was he the second winner of the Bassmaster Classic?) He said the Palomar knot was the only knot you'd ever need and that it was the preferred knot of pro anglers. I asked him about the pro fisherman sponsored by Trilene and the Trilene knot. He repeated, "it is the preferred knot by pro fisherman and the only knot you will ever need..."
  13. I glanced at couple of posts and went to another topic. I thought of you and went through again. Glad I did...LOL
  14. Thanks, I was going to look into an ABS console. This one is aluminum, tall and narrow.
  15. There is a broken weld or two... I guess I have what I have. It fishes great, I'll just adjust. Thanks for the advice, now I have some things to try. I'll do some measuring, thanks Tom.
  16. Correct on the hull design.
  17. Evinrude E-Tech 60HP. Slow is the only option in those conditions. While I don't mind going slow, you can still feel the hull flex and everything on deck shaking. (just slower...LOL) My partner's Lowe Roughneck plows through it like it's not even choppy.
  18. Welded. One of things we did was to move the two trolling motor batteries way forward. All of this helped porpoising but, not the tooth-rattling ride.
  19. The boat fishes well. The boat runs in flat water great. But... Let there be a chop on the water and it'll shake your fillings loose. It'll shake everything on deck from rods to coolers from bow to stern. We removed the console a couple of years ago and put a thicker floor and new ribs under the console and it helped just a little. (the aluminum console would shake so violently, you'd think it was going to shake free of the floor) It's rattly ride in the least chop, a terrible ride in anything more. Is there a way to alleviate this at all? I was thinking the replacing the aluminum console with an ABS plastic like the newer consoles, while not stopping the flex, at least the console wouldn't shake so violently.
  20. Gin and Tonic tonight. Last night, I forgot I had no tonic. So, I adapted and just drank gin...
  21. Last Labor Day Weekend, I decided to fish with a St. Croix Pro Glass, 5' 6", pistol grip, for three days, just for fun, throwing a spinnerbait. I was so fun, when I got home after the weekend, I went online trying to find something similar... nothing. I ended up having one of the guys that has built a few rods for me, build me a rod on a MHX Shooter blank, 6'. I love it. I have another two being built as I type, 6' 3". I just like short rods. Plain and simple.
  22. My wife and daughter are watching. They themselves have made the comment that two dummies who know nothing about football are watching. Not me, I am here on BR. I absolutely do not care.
