  1. I discovered them 25 years ago on a Bud Earhardt Fishin' Stick. Every rod I own, all customs (sans my Teramar XX...built different) is acid wrapped.
  2. I have the JDM 100D. A tad slower retrieve so, small crankbaits and maybe small spinnerbaits. I have it on a Castaway Invicta II ML. It feels small in my hand... Until I pick up the Stile or Scorpion 70XG, and then go back to it. It then, doesn't seem so small...
  3. If the Cuda cutting scissors are those little, blue handle jobies, I have six of them scattered all over the boat for quick access. The absolute best scissors I've used. I didn't care for the Boomarang one bit.
  4. Always interesting seeing old names.
  5. I am ten month post op. Work HARD through the physical therapy. It will mean everything as far as recovery goes.

I fisherman "falls asleep" (dies). He's on a beautiful lake, in a bass boat, an array of rods on the deck. He picks up a rod and makes a cast, fish on, 2 pounder... He picks up another rod with a different lure, fish on, two pounder. And so on, and so on, all day long, a two pounder on every cast, no matter the lure. After hundreds of two pounders, day after day (and he is not tired at all), another bass boat comes into view and comes up on him. "How's the fishing?" "Great, I've caught thousands of two pounders in the last week, a two pound bass on every cast." The first fellow says the second fellow, "I know I shouldn't complain but, seeing this is heaven and all, shouldn't there be bigger fish than two pounders? Shouldn't there be some real monsters in this lake?" The second man says, "who said it was heaven?"
  7. Has RW posted at all? I look here now and then and don't post as much as in the past. If Kent hasn't posted, I am the reigning, longest active member on BR. I joined BR right after Kent in 2004. It seems "not quite right"... no RW, no Catt... Come to think of it, I've seen many a BR member, come and go...

I get to watch my buddy smoke and fish and I've watched Junger smoke and fish many times too. It's pretty impressive. I'd turn green...
  9. I have a Castaway HG40 Bud Pruitt Flippin' Stick that I don't really use and would not part with.
  10. A wise, old fisherman friend (78 years old and going strong who once owned a tackle shop) told me the best advice for catching more fish. I read through this thread and I hope I didn't miss it. The advice? MAKE SURE YOUR HOOK IS SHARP! New, does not mean sharp.
  11. When I owned two boats, the smaller one that parked on the carports tires were fine. The trailer that sat it the driveway, dry rot.
  12. I'm a 6', 6'3" and max 6'8" kind of guy.
  13. I looked through every post here and I will only say I've seen all the "I can cast XX yards", posts over my span of time here on BR. I have been here since 2004. I have always said to take your rods to your local football field. Stand at the goal line. Cast, cast, cast. Hang head, hang head, hang head... Your cast isn't as far as you think it is...
  14. And just when you've been using it for 30 years and completely feel that you "get it", you'll get a backlash and the mystery continues...
  15. How good a writer for the guitar was Jimi? Listen to Stevie Ray play his music...
  16. https://www.tochtermansfishingtackle.com/ Celebrating 108 years.
  17. I too, thought I saw a ghost...
  18. A good friend and one of the smartest fisherman I've ever met, owned a tackle shop years ago. When customers would come in, some would inevitably ask, "how can I catch more fish?" He would reply, first asking them to not think he was being a smart aleck, (pardon the old guy word...) "sharpen your hook". Years later, fishing with a client, we were on a spinnerbait bite. I landed every bite and he landed just half of his. Exacerbated, he asked me what I thought he was doing wrong. I told him that it might sound dumb but, sharpen your hook. He said that it was brand new out of the package. I told him to check it for sharpness. Then I took it from him and sharpened it. Checking it after, he couldn't believe how much sharper I was able to get the hook. He didn't lose any more fish. He is in his 70's and having fished all his life, never thought sharpening the hook made that much of difference.
  19. I had a charter a few years ago wearing fishing bifocals. Smith Optics. I've had a pair ever since. Man O man were they worth it.
  20. I got into them years ago with Bud Erhardt Fishin' Sticks. All of my customs are spiral wrapped. Cast further, less torque on the blank, sensitive AND, the looks on peoples faces when they are holding the rod and can't figure out what's wrong with your rod. Also referred to as acid wrapped.
  21. I replaced all mine with Gomexus "Feel" cylindrical aluminum handles for my baitcasters.
  22. Feels like a blast from the past. I'd forgotten all about the "flippin' switch".
  23. I've owned the Black Max 3600's in the past. I really liked them.
  24. In southern MD, I've heard all my life (I'm 59) water moccasin, water moccasins in MD... None in MD. Brown Water Snake every time. How do I know? I was fishing on the Northwest River in southern VA. A Water Moccasin was coiled up floating "on top" of the water like a balloon. It was ominous, I will never forget it. We gave it a wide birth in the boat.
