  1. The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission has an online calculator that I have found to be very accurate. Here is the link. https://myfwc.com/fishing/freshwater/fishing-tips/bass-weight-calculator/ @Javelin_Venom your bass at 26x17.75 would weigh 10.13lbs.
  2. I like watching them jump as well except for a potential PB then not so much.
  3. Welcome back. Sounds like you had a very productive day regardless of the tackle snafus.
  4. Loomis made a case for their travel rods. That might be a solution. Also you can make one out of PCV materail to your specs regarding length & diamater & weight and add a strap for carrying. Fixed end cap glued in place at one end & threaded cap on the other.
  5. Was the bottom photo the bass you referred too as the 7-8 lber caught the previous week?
  6. Congrats on the new PB
  7. That's a trophy smallie anywhere but especially big for a river.
  8. Thanks guys. PB's in your 70's are extra sweet!
  9. Good advice from @ATA. If your a tinkerer you can try changing the spool tension knob in small increments to suit your casting style after you establish a base of usage. Otherwise leave it alone if your happy with the performance.
  10. X2 Also watch the bait boat side to see how it responds to rod movements & twitches. Then compare those movements to working the bait just with the reel using exaggerated partial winding motions then stopping. Mike Bucca likes to burn his bullshads as a topwater presentation. Jointed swim baits are like jerk baits in that you have to try different retrieves to see what works best.
  11. Welcome. Your going to like it here.
  12. I would think so.
  13. Water temps or time of the year. In PA the smallies are done spawning by the end of June or when water temps hit 65-70.
  14. Red meat.
  15. Yes to both DD & teeners. I'm pretty sure Lake Okeechobee is considered part of the glades. I believe they shocked up a midteen fish in the ring canal.
  16. US Metanium is a good reel. The 2022 Bantam is one step above the Met.
  17. You can always get back in by stepping on the motor just above the prop & raising the motor with the trim switch on the side of the motor.
  18. That looks like fertile water for big bass.
  19. In case you don't believe me. https://www.the-daily-record.com/story/sports/outdoors/2022/05/23/fishermen-use-skills-make-three-days-presque-isle-good-trip/9804821002/?fbclid=IwAR1D5zkzyMVXfrgNJBwtzBz7Nfwg8czec3t6o0t7qvReKToKTv1EFdQcZsw
  20. Prayers sent your way for a successful recovery.
  21. Great post. You are using two of my favorite hook choices the owner ZoWire & Stinger treble short shank . I have found from experience the zowire STX-38ZN X+ are brittle enough to break on bigger fish. Have you tried the STX-45ZN 2X+ or the STX-58-TN 3X+? I'm sure the heavier hooks will weigh more but I don't have a gram scale to determine the difference. Another hook to research is Treble Magic ST-46, the hooks Ever Green International uses on their baits. Super sticky sharp hooks like the zowires.
