Spincast For Bass?
Were they using 33's or the Omega? The Omega is light years ahead of the standard Zebco 33 in quality and overall performance.

Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's
If I know exactly what I want, I'll order it from ***. I'll make the short drive to BPS (less than 15 miles) if I want to compare products or just feel like browsing a bit. I rarely buy anything from Cabelas because I'd have to pay for shipping. It would really have to be a smokin' deal.

Re: Palomar Knot
Thanks, RW. Looks very similar to the Reverse-Clinch, but with fewer wraps.

Re: Palomar Knot
The Palomar is a great knot and I use it for most lures, but I actually prefer the San Diego Jam Knot for spinnerbaits. It's much easier to tie since you don't have to pass the lure back thru a loop.

Diawa Megaforce
I've owned my share of cheap reels, and my old $35 Pinnacle Platinum Plus was smoother and more trouble free than my Megaforce.

KISLTER CARBON STEEL RODS !!!! ????
I've handled them in the store and wasn't impressed. The foam/cork grip is kind of funky, the guides look cheap, and their using a Pac Bay reel seat instead of the Fuji seats they use on their higher-grade models. I think there are probably better rods available in that price range.

Trick Worm vs Finesse Worm
Sorry about the crappy cell phone pic. I can't find my camera. :-/

Trick Worm vs Finesse Worm
The Finesse Worm is much smaller than the Trick Worm.

Diawa Megaforce
I had one for a very short time. I think I might've used it a half-dozen times before getting rid of it. Peformance was far from impressive and the drag required readjustment after every cast. I think there are better things to spend $60 on. The rod might not be bad, but I don't know for sure. My brother-in-law has been using one for a while now and seems to like it, but I've never tried it.

winch?
A quick search turned up this: That's a 200DHSV on the left and a 200E7 on the right. http://www.anglergear.net/icast-2008-the-aftermath-a-random-list-of-the-top-i-want-that-items-part-3/

magnetic braking
I'm impressed, Raul, really. You managed to watanabe in a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with you. Give yourself a nice pat on the back for me, friend. :

magnetic braking
So now we determine a reel's quality by whether or not you have one in your collection? That is by far the most pompous and asinine statement I've seen you make in all my time here.

is there anything decent with a BPS name on it?
I've never owned a BPS reel, but I've owned several of their rods. I've bought three Extremes and two JM Signature Series rods in the past couple years, and wouldn't hesitate to buy more if I had the need.

New E Series Curado or Old B Series Chronarch
even less if you bid True, but I'm all about instant gratification. I get irritated if it takes more than 4 days to go from clicking the "Buy it Now" button to test casting it in my front yard. ;D

FWIW, you can pick up a new Curado E7 on Ebay for about $155 shipped to your door.

Rod Upgrade: Compre vs Premier
I've never used either one, but the Compre has a lifetime warranty and Fuji guides while the Premier has a 5 year warranty and Batson guides. Based on their specs, I'd say Compre but it really comes down to how it feels in the hand.

Need spinning rod suggestions...
The CRS66M is very light and extremely sensitive. I've got mine paired with a Symetre 2500FI and think it's a great general-purpose rod. I've never fished the MH, so I really can't compare the two. When the time came for me to buy a MH spinning rod, I went with a BPS JM Sig. Series instead.

Need spinning rod suggestions...
I have a CRS66M and it's a great rod for lighter lures. It'll handle t-rigged worms, small cranks, and weightless Senkos just fine, but I think there are probably better choices if you want to toss anything heavier than that. It's only rated for 1/8-3/8 oz lures, so I wouldn't go much heavier than that.

Pure Fishing Does it Again
It's enitirely possible that when they opened up his old reel, they noticed wear on parts they no longer stock, or a manufacturing defect that might have caused him problems at some point in the future. It doesn't really matter either way. He sent them an older reel for service and they shipped him back a new reel. Heck, I'd do that every year if I could.

Which Should I Get? Please Help!
x2 I've handled the Carrot Stix a couple times and really just don't see the appeal. :-/ For $150 they ought to come with better guides. The JM Signature Series retail for little more, but they come with MUCH better guides...and who pays retail for a BPS rod anyway? If you're patient, you can pick one up for $130 or less.
