  1. My urologist told me to drink beer. It helps keep the kidneys flushed out, and reduces the risk of kidney stones.
  2. Darn it. I was hoping you'd all say it was basically the same reel so I could save myself $30. ;D Oh well. It looks like I'm going to have to order a new Patriarch 71WLP instead of the Summit.
  3. Personally, I prefer the feel of the wide-spool model when I palm it and like knowing that I've got plenty of line on hand. I doubt I'll ever need it, but I like having it there anyway.
  4. Besides the drag, have you noticed any other differences in performance between the two?
  5. For those of you that have used both, which would you choose for t-rigged soft plastics? I've got a Patriarch 64WLP that I love, but I'm wanting something in 7.1:1 for my new soft plastics rod. There's about $30 difference between the two, but spec-wise, they're very similar.
  6. x2 I'd also check ebay for last year's Shimano Symetre, either the 2500FI or 4000FI if you need a larger reel.
  7. I vote front drag. I had read somewhere that front drag spinning reels typically have larger diameter drag washers than comparable rear drag reels. It may not make a difference, I don't really know.
  8. I own two of them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another, especially at that price. My 6'6" MH/F JMSS spinning rod has replaced my Crucial as my "go to" rod.
  9. I've never used the LP, so I can't really compare the two, but I have no problem with my WLP. I know I'll probably never need the extra 60 yds of line, but I like having the option. I also found the WLP's extra width slightly more comfortable in the hand. I'm in the market for another BC for soft plastics, and will probably wind up with another Patriarch WLP, Summit WLP, or President WLP.
  10. I only use mine for shallow cranks and 'traps, so I've never even tried casting soft plastics with it. But, if it can fling a 1/4 oz Fat Free Fry over 100', it ought to be able cast well beyond that with that worm/hook/weight combo.
  11. No, you're not the only one. I could deal with the color, I just don't like the guides.
  12. Are they the new Supremes that look kinda like a Patriarch with a different handle and less "bling"? If so, how do you like them? I just picked up a new rod for soft plastics, so I'm shopping around for a new reel to put on it. I love my Patriarch, but the new Supreme is looking good for a little less $$$... EDIT: Oops! It's the President I've been eye-ballin', not the Supreme. Sorry.
  13. I have a 64WLP and have no problems launching a 1/4 oz crankbait over 100' with a side-arm cast. This is why I asked what the OP considers a "light lure". To many folks, a 7" worm on a 3/0 EWG hook with a 1/8 oz bullet weight is "light" when in reality, it weighs in at approximately 3/8 oz. Not heavy by any means, but not what I'd consider light either.
  14. Exactly what do you mean by "light lures"?
  15. Shameless plug... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1237477179/0
  16. I postd this in another thread about spinning rods for dropshot, but BPS has their Johnny Morris Signature Series rods on sale for $119.94 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98026_100002002_100000000_100002000_100-2-2
  17. I own two of the JM Signature Series rods, one 6'6" MH/F spinning that I've had for a while now and a 6'10" MH/XF casting rod that I just picked up this afternoon. They're very nice rods, light and sensitive. The 6'6" MH/F JMSS has replaced my Crucial as my go-to spinning rod. I'm actually thinking about selling the Crucial and picking up another JMSS while they're on sale. The JM Sig. Series has Fuji titanium-framed SiC guides instead of the Recoil guides that are on the JM Elite Series. From what I've seen and read, that's the major difference between the two rods.
  18. If you can squeeze another $20 out of your account, the BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series rods are currently on sale for $119.94 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_98025_100002006_100000000_100002000_100-2-6?ordProd=Y&CMID=TOP_selectitems You won't find a better rod in that price range, IMHO.
  19. I kinda figured that, but I couldn't post a pic of what you were thinking.
  20. That's who I bought my Patriarch from and it's perfect. No problems at all.
  21. The Patriarch and the JM Sig. are very similar in appearance, but are built on completely different frames. The JM is much larger overall and is noticeably heavier than the Patriarch.
  22. How about "Schprechen Sie Deutsch"
  23. You lost me here. :-? As far as sniping services go, I already use one. FWIW, the paid sniping services are much more versatile than the freebies. ETA: The best sniping service in the world won't help you if the proxy bid is higher than your snipe.
  24. I've spent thousands of dollars on NOS motorcycle parts in the past decade+. When the item you've been searching for comes up for auction, you need to be ready to swoop in and pick it up. Depending on the rarity of the part, you may never see another one.
