Fluorcarbon
Indeed on braid. Its non-stretch is a great trait, but I too can react too quickly sometimes yank the lure out of their mouths.

Bass Fishing Jeopardy
That was very fun to play, but Mr. Trebek, where are the daily doubles, lol? (j/k).

The therapy of bass fishing
You almost said all, and I’m 100% with you. I couldn’t have said it better. The only thing left to add is when your smart phone alarm goes off and whips you back to reality and you realize you have 15 minutes to get to a meeting or pickup the kids or get to that dental appointment you forgot about. ?

How necessary is a baitcast rig?
Another critical thing to consider!!!!!!!! Choose a casting reel with the retrieve on the same side your spinning reel handle is. You readily admit you’ve been spinning for years so if you retrieve left handed, get a left handed casting reel ... The type of reprogramming required to get casting down opposite handed is not something to focus on when learning to use a casting reel for the first time. I will wager a Rapala size 5 floating minnow that you will prefer by 10 country miles a casting reel with a retrieve on the same side you’re already accustomed.

How necessary is a baitcast rig?
Necessary? Absolutely not. Will it make you more versatile or enable you to greater access to techniques more suited to a bc reel? Absolutely yes. Because it’s a given that you’re a life long spinning gear guy, you’re going to have to be willing to reprogram yourself to the timing of the mechanics of the cast. I highly recommend you read and research all of the threads related to anglers coming from a spinning background learning to use a bc reel here. Many, including me, have repeated posted on this topic every time it surfaces. This will shave a ton of time off of your learning curve. Also, the bc reel is one tool you CANNOT afford to skimp on in quality. Higher quality bc reels not only perform better and last longer, the also make learning to use a bc reel much easier. Trust me. No, you don’t need $300 reel, but don’t make things more difficult for you by learning on junk. I too come from a spinning background. If you put in your due diligence and start off with a decent bc reel, I can guarantee that you will kick yourself in the rear and ask why you didn’t do this earlier. Good luck and keep us posted on your journey.

House brand rods
Cabelas mag touch rods were excellent. A wide variety of models, including 2 piece spinning and casting rods. I have their medium 2-piece 7’ casting rod that serves as my trunk rod. Very sensitive. I’ve caught everything from gills, trout, lmbs, Smbs and even salmon. It’s as do all as a rod can be. Like many other house rods, they’re no longer made. I’ve had it for perhaps 10 years give or take and it has been in action every season. Sad will be the day I break it.

McCain Tommy Martin Series
Hot dawg, a $200 rod for $80? I would have snagged that puppy and I don’t even flip — but I’d start, lol. My wallet almost flew out of my back pocket and open up to where my debit card is kept.

A Little Finesse
That is sick. Plain and flat out awesome.

What do you use to clean crud from reels and rod guides?
I think if I recall correctly, Lamiglas recommended lightly brushing guides with toothpaste. I did it once and they were clean, lol. Dishwashing joy soap to clean cork and rods but I heard magic erasers do well. For reel exteriors, some rubbing alcohol so I can kill the germs too, especially on the knobs. Q tips for those hard to reach area. Since I have mostly Shimano reels, I follow their basic instructions. I want to do a complete breaking down and overhaul but I always chicken out because I know I’ll be embarrassingly forced to send it to DVT in a zip lock.

2 piece rod?
I think so, if you ask. If that isn’t possible, you be able to store it partially under the seat in front of you and your seat in the same day you can stow a small bag under the seat in front of you. I did that once but I also didn’t check with the flight attendant. Since you’re staying domestic, you should be alright for to and from air travel. One thing you can do is use some pipe insulation to protect the top half of the rod and join the two with some Velcro. Yeah, it’s nerdy, but it’s practical for any scenario that doesn’t involve a real case, lol. Thanks for the word on TW.

2 piece rod?
If you are going to take a two-piece with with you on a plane, make sure you stow it after the heavy carry on baggage’s have been put away or it will get crushed. Also, if you’re traveling out of the country, CHECK your carrier’s policy for the return DO NOT ASSUME that the policy is converse. For example, Alaska Airlines allows rods as carry on from the US to Mexico. However, their policy from Mexico back to the US does not. You have to put it in your non carry on baggage and let me tell you most standard type luggage are not long enough to accommodate a 6’6” rod in two pieces. I lost a 2-piece rod because of this. Fortunately, I was able to give it to a sisters-in-law but unfortunately she lost it, lol. True travel rods with airplanes in mind will be more than two pieces to fit in the luggage. Where will you buy the damiki?

Welcome and thanks for sharing a great intro. ?

Daiwa Ardito Casting travel rod 7’ M/F ?
Congrats. What you’re feeling is IMHO, very normal and this is coming from someone who also prefers to use the lightest I can get away with. That same “stiff” rod won’t feel as stiff when you’re working a 3/8oz jig with a trailer. It’s going to feel like the baby bear, ie, just right.

Baitcasting rod for finesse
How is sensitivity in your hands, your opinion on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest? The name Majorcraft has come up enough now to pique my interest, since having a finesse casting in my arsenal would be a plus. Thanks ahead of time. Sorry, bay lake, didn’t mean to highjack your post, but it’s a darn good topic to piggy back on since such a rig has been on my back burner for quite some time.

Drop shot knot
Simple. Always have the hook point facing skyward and insert the line into the hook eye from the sky to the earth, ie, from above to below. If you feel more comfortable inserting the line into the eye from underneath, orient the hook point the other way. Fool proof, guaranteed by islandbass, or your money back, no questions asked. To the topic, I’ve used this loop and it works very well. It’s been used for a very long time by many an angler, not necessarily in the bass world.

Izorline xxx or Big Game
If memory is going to be an issue for you, then you really have no choice but to use braid for the most part. Memory is not a bad thing. I chuckle at all the memory weenies out there, lol. I’ve used all of these lines: izorline platinum, CXX, big game, xt. Everyone one of these lines is excellent and exceptional but in order to use them, you will have to accept that memory is a given with them and this line type. And to be honest, other than looking somewhat unsightly, memory shouldn’t be an issue nor affect performance with casting gear. WRB’s advice is solid and have also been my findings too. Of the single filament lines lines i have tried, I would have to say that sufix siege and elite seem to “resist” getting memory the longest, but they too will eventually acquire it.

Shaving subscriptions
What have we done here?!!!!! Through either the slow process of evolution, the shave monkey has been born or he was dormant and has finally awaken. I have so many honey do things today and now feel compelled to have to get a tube of Cremo... TODAY. Right now, lol. Question. Is the original formula (and is it scented) a good choice or do I have to get the bourbon one?

Shaving subscriptions
Alright, I'm going to look out for this. I am currently using barbasol, nothing fancy, just classic shaving cream. I have also liked using gel creams like edge in the past.

Thanks for the review. I was straddling the fence on all those radio shaving deals but didn’t feel sold enough to pull the trigger. The MACH III just flat out rocks, but I seem to have more precision with the old school plastic double bladed and disposable plastic ones, or my dad’s (he’s 78) old school Gillette single blade razor that you inserted a cartridge, swiped the thingy that pushed the new blade into the handle that ejected the old blade simultaneously. I haven’t seen those in decades. I am still using the mach 3 and I can get perhaps 6-8 months out of them and sometimes longer. I learned from someone that ensuring the blades are completely dry after use helps to allow the blades to live a little longer. Can’t tell you why but I think there is some truth to it because I don’t seem to need to change it as often when I didn’t dry them. I only need to shave about every 1.5 days and do maintain a goatee. I always preferred clean shaven since day one for many of the reasons mentioned. However, I met this woman who said I should try a goatee. I tried it and wasn’t comfortable with how it looked but she told me I looked good with it. Heck, she said she liked me with it more than without it. Well, 22 years later, I still employ the goatee and haven’t looked back and goodness gracious, she even married me. So while the preference is still there but in the back burner sort of, it’s a goatee for me. Mach 3, and I maintain the blade as I described akin to how I take care of my gear, lol. And while the price seems steep, I suppose it isn’t if each and every blade lasts a long time. So what about shaving cream now, lol?

The Road To The Super Bowl 2019
SEA-HAWKS, SEA-HAWKS, SEA-HAWKS, lol. No way Seattle is down that low on that list, no way, Jose. Even though they’re a new, young team, they exceeded my expectations (Them making the playoffs was but wishful thinking) and some of their losses this season were almost wins. If anything, they have this advantage... They are dark horses this season and the hawks’ name is hardly if ever whispered among the experts and pundits. They have a solid shot for a playoff spot and I’m glad they aren’t getting hyped by the sports media. And with this young a team, just having a shot is all I could ask of them.

*** URGENT DOG FOOD RECALL ***
Thanks for this advisory. I’d be very indescribably saddened if I lost my dog to something like this.
