  1. Anybody reccomend a good pair of waders?
  2. Fireworks that go into the air are illegal here too, but that doesn't stop anyone. (Including me) You'd be amaaaazed at the number of people that drive to South Carolina to buy illegal fireworks. Granted I live in a small town, but we have residents that actually buy from the licensed fireworks guy that shoots them off for our town, and then turn around and shoot theirs off right after the big show only 1/4 of a mile away!
  3. Woooooo! Way to represent the SOUTHEAST!!

I am a full time student at THE Appalachian State University majoring in Building Sciences with a concentration in Construction Management. I am also minoring in Geography. I spend summers working with a carpenter and brick mason.
  6. I like crappie better by the way. Most agree.
  7. To be completely honest I never saw anyone that would really give me a hard time about it. I am not normally a rule breaker, I'm just being honest. If you want to go as far as trying to not catch sharks (nearly impossible) then you probably need a fishing liscense. Another one is required for fishing on the shore in NC, but not for a pier. Kind of like fishing for trout. Anyway, just check your regulations. While I was at Oak Island guys were pulling 4ft and 7ft shark.
  8. X 2. This dude knows what hes talkin about. Live bait will outfish other baits, but theres just a cost/time benefit of frozen and artificial. I fished at Oak Island in NC about a month ago and the sharks had just hatched. My buddy and I caught about 30 sharks in one day off of frozen squid and shrimp. Speckeled trout were swimming by in schools and when they did every single person on the peir would catch their limit. I'm sure things have changed now. Talk to your hotel about whats happening in the water or ask at local bait/tackle/pier shops, they are usually good to tell you whats in.
  9. That's why they call it "fishin" and not "catchin" Jcrzy! ;D Keep at it. Anyone who hasn't had an experience like that is probably lying. To hear the way the guys that catch huuuge fish out in Cali talk, landing it is just half the fight. Anyway, keep your head up even though that feeling in your stomach sucks!
  10. What would be some typical jig colors for basic conditions?
  11. Not meaning to hijack, buuut, should the colors that one uses for soft plastics be the same as jigs?

  15. X 2. I think your'e set. I fish with Junebug, Watermelons, and Green Pumkpins. That covers just about all water conditions for me.
  16. Agreed! I won't lie, I haven't fished before 12:00 this year! I can also tell you I've had one of my best years ever with this routine. All my biggest fish have came from about 1-4:00pm.

  18. Could you see the hook eye? There is a link on here somewhere that explains how to get those out. Maybe a mod or someone else knows where it is. I don't know if this applies to you situation, but its always good to know!
  19. Hope you feel better soon! Welcome!
  20. Congrats not only the fish, but the water levels as well. We really need some rain!
