  1. I agree, it would be easier to find the bigger fish than it is up here. Typically in the big bass states there are more fish per acre in lakes and although it might not be "easy" to catch a limit you certainly stand a better chance than lets say in the north (excluding the great lakes fisheries). There are still some great fisheries in the north don't get me wrong, I'm just saying that with more fish per acre you stand a better chance of catching more fish.
  2. i love manns crankbaits! you guys just put another lure on my to buy list lol
  3. I'm the same way, if theres a tournament going on, and i'm not in it, they can have the spot i'm fishing. I hate when people do that to me so I don't do it to other people either. If I'm in the tournament and I get there before everyone else though that spot is mine ;D lol
  4. Ahh i see. that makes sense. lol i've never used either of those
  5. wait, how come rocks and braid don't mix? Do the rocks slice the braid up?
  6. i wish lol, but no i just fish with the state of PA. like local tournaments, regionals, Mr. BASS, i earned a spot to state teams this year, and i'm hoping to make it to the PA state classic again. Theres no collegiate bass programs at the school I'm going to.
  7. I don't know much about braid in clear water, i only have it spooled up on one baitcaster. But a couple guys from my club have found fireline crystal. They use it up erie alot and from what they said is a good braid for clear water. I know its not the same as powerpro but I just thought I'd mention it
  8. was it a bad winter for you in wisconson? how long does it generally take for the ice to come off of your lakes? I know your pretty far north but i'm not familiar with the climate of the area
  9. it was an accident I promise, i didnt mean to sound like a jerk. I guess i just need to work on my wording like you said. I PMed Robby and apologized, i still feel really bad. I was really just trying to share information
  10. staging places such as flats and points
  11. Hawgcaller if you wrote a book about the subject I'd be the first to pick it up. Great thread
  12. crooked creek should be a better lake for this time of year. That cold snap last weekend just ruined the fishing in my opinion. Even the fish in my ponds were acting all retarded like they didnt know what to do. I'm sorry the loyalhanna tourny didnt go so well for you two. I'm sure you'll do better next time
  13. Fishchris - no matter how many pictures of your fish I see they never cease to put me in awe, thanks for sharing them
  14. i'll go if I can, I'm gonna have to take a look at my tourny schedule and get back to you. During the week works for me though, I'll be off on college break. Would we be bringing boats?
  15. eww. yeah I always thought loyalhanna was a more summer/fall lake. How did you and lisa end up doing? I sure the 5 lber was lookin nice!
  16. I agree wholeheartedly. You gotta take the money as soon as it presents itself, tournaments do get expensive. If another deal comes along take that, it is a business and you have the right to make more money if it presents itself.
  17. lol it must be nice to live in texas. Around here a limit of dinks will win everything usually lol. and our dinks are 12-13 inches!
  18. yeah we usually head up to new york, we're just going for a lunker tournament however. Mostly because of me, i didnt think it was fair if somebody got on em at erie and got a huge sack of smallmouth. Theres nowhere else in PA you can do that and it pretty much ruins the AOY race at the beginning of the year
  19. give me a time of year and i can help you out more but heres what I got for you now Some of the better ledges are down by the dam, esp. for the smallies. The smallies will school up in summer though and usually you'll see them busting the surface during the day and they'll give up their position. It takes alot of time to find the schools in the early spring however. It even takes a whole week sometimes. The points usually work all year round, my personal favorite is the one by nancys camp (nancys camp is the point to the left coming out of james creek, you'll see alot of tents and such because you can only get to the campground by boat). But two years ago no one could find any fish except for one team in the KBBC and they were using jigging spoons in 30-40 ft of water off a grassy point. I try to fish around the weeds as much as I can however. It always seems like the biggest largemouth come out of the weeds. all in all I think it changes by year and the best way to catch alot of fish at raystown is to fish it alot and get a feel for the lake. I wish I could give you a secret spot that always works, but to tell you the truth I havent found any yet. It seems like everytime I go the fish are somewhere else
  20. Its not a dress, but very nice! Thats a good picture
  21. our club tournies don't start until the first week of june and thats at erie in new york. most of our tournaments are in july through october
  22. your right, i just dont fish either of those series lol. I should have said that tournaments in pa dont start for me until bass season opens on june 22nd lol
  23. tell you the truth i don't own any. around here when i target smallmouth there are four things i have tied on a white spinnerbait, a tube jig, a shakey head worm, and the most important a lucky craft jerkbait (usually two lucky craft jerkbaits ;D)
