  1. 3-5' , the only place I usually won't throw a crankbait is thick grass
  2. Are you protesting cars on the beach? Looks like you're right in the middle of the road. Might want to keep an eye out.....
  3. He's listing 50 more in bluegill next week.
  4. You might want to read my post again, I think you got what I was saying twisted up. I didn't give the marshal program a grade, at least not yet. I haven't made any decisions on what I think because I'm still a bit confused on these so called facts that nobody can seem to find. I'm not dogging the Marshals at all, I just don't understand how 4 Marshals can have differing accounts of the same happenings. Plus, I find it strange that both Langill's Marshals showed up at the Day 3 launch to back him up and further said they'd back him up if it all went to court. That's pretty strong. Being a marshal is like being a referee at a UFC fight. You are RIGHT THERE! And from another report, Duckett's story has changed a couple times. Why would his story change at all if it was 100% the truth? It makes you wonder.... Why wouldn't the Marshal program be getting rave reviews from the Pro's? Because they are the one's who wanted it. And why are the BASS Officials so happy with it? Because they dont have to hear anybody beeotchin' about a co-angler catching too many fish anymore. If I fished on that level, I would have voted for the Marshal program too, just so we're clear on that.
  5. My dad has been throwing the same 4 lures for the past 15 years. The 'ol man does pretty good too. Black Culprit worm white spinnerbait (as long as the skirt is all white, the blades, weight, etc dont matter) Bomber crankbait (craw pattern) black/brown jig Forgot: He jigs a Hopkins spoon all winter, nothing else. He leaves the dock with one rod and a handful of Hopkins spoons. I'm not quite sure why he even bought all those old Bagleys and Poes cranks (that are still in the original packs)....I've never seen him throw one, ever.
  6. I feel your pain. When you find them for an acceptable price, please put up a link.
  7. I got mine yesterday and noticed that they are about 1/4" shorter than what they made for Strike King. Other than the overall length, the rest of the body is the same. Whale of a deal @ $5 each. Put brand new rings and trebles on all of 'em today.

    Thats a good'un!!
  13. I dont doubt it. Experience would play a big part if they fished with no electronics.

  15. There's a guy in my bass club that has fished co-angler with Matt in the past and he had real good things to say about him also. Matt did pretty good here on Smith Mtn last month in the Elite. I'd like to see him win one, or two. Karma IS on his side.
  16. LOL! No kidding....he might want to get an extension for that net.
  17. Taking away their electronics would only affect them in a few tournaments. The summer tournaments mainly. The deep lakes in summer could present a problem and the Great Lakes where all the fishing is done offshore. The spring and fall tournaments, the fish are mostly shallow and predictable and other than feeling a little 'naked' without their electronics on board, they'd still catch 'em.
  18. Looks like T-Mobile has a better deal for me than my current Verizon Wireless account, saving almost $200 per year.

  20. It sure sounds like a bluegill spawning area but I'm not aware of them spawning that late in the year.
  21. Knuckle Down Lures Knuckle Dragger football jig with a Berkley Chigger Craw trailer, although the Rage Craw is coming on strong. Mostly dragging with a hop every now and then.
  22. I've been trying to form an objective opinion on what happened just from what I've read on the internet reports and radio interviews. Langill's marshals on Day 1 and 2 both say that anything that may have occured were not viewed by either one as unsportsmanlike. If in fact, the events of Day 1 and 2 were not deemed to be unsportsmanlike (by his marshals) I can see where a guy with a temper could 'lose it' over $9500 bucks. On the other hand, when you hear Duckett talk about what happened, it sounds like Langill just did what he wanted to on that hole and acted like Boyd wasn't on the spot first. I dont agree with that, IF that's true. Once the initial complaint was filed by Duckett after Day 1, both Day 1 marshals should have been questioned and that's it. Same thing with Day 2. This is exactly what the marshals are there for. The problem I have is that it sounds like all the marshals were questioned but Langill's marshals accounts didnt match Duckett's marshals accounts. How does that happen? They all saw the same thing. But in the end, unless you saw the events in person from start to finish, everything you hear is pure speculation. And we all know there's 3 sides to every story. His story, the other guy's story and the truth.
  23. How hard are you setting the hook? A crankbait hookset is not like a jig or texas rig hookset, its more like a quick snap with constant pressure instead of a 'cross their eyes' hookset. You could be setting the hook(s) too hard and ripping big holes in their lips. Therefore when you go to swing 'em, the small treble hooks come thru the big holes you've created. And in my opinion, braid isn't the best choice to use on a crankbait or any treble hooked reaction bait of any kind, except maybe a trap around grass. Mono stretches and gives a little when the fish start to thrash, braid doesn't.
