  1. Remember to never, ever, try to shoot a snake while it is in your boat. Laugh all you want to, but I have seen an idiot do it. I would however recommend shooting a Gator that got in the boat, but that's a little different
  2. I would think that it would still scratch the boat. I think you can use PT lumber and carpet for the same cost as the composite.
  3. I'll have to go other (explorer). I tried the Jeep thing, but got a little nervous with no top and a car seat in the back
  4. I had a similar situation with my Minnkota. I wound up screwing the foot control to the deck of the duckboat and putting the head and cable where it needed to be for best motion range. Screwing it down prevented the cable from moving the foot control
  5. Bringin this one back from the dead..... Has anyone seen the stock lake maps for the XOG? I know that they do not have the details the Navionics does, but am wondering if it will work ok until I get the nav chip
  6. Ok, I have to give credit to you for that, that was funny ;D
  7. Back flow when you stop will often times come up the bolt line. Also, if you leave it outside unsealed it will get wet in those holes as well. If you get this wet enough, you will begin transom rot.
  8. we have a progressive dead fish penalty that is exactly the same as alabama bass fed rules. This is specifically for the purpose of prepping people for federation tournaments. no culling of dead fish is allowed. sometimes dead fish end up in peoples trucks or hotel rooms. :-X
  9. Big Bull was the hotel next to to Lakeside, the steakhouse was a cheap small restaraunt on 231. if you didnt check them out, you did ok. Nasy little places.
  10. Understood. So how was the steak house and big bull? Nasty as ever?
  11. That is the frustration of team tourney's. My thought is, as long as you are sharing expenses and winnings, you both have equal say in what to do. If you dont like each other, swap teams. It may be that you two just cant fish together, doesnt mean your not friends or dont like each other.
  12. I must teach you college kids something, most of us old folk work on Fridays :'( I miss school. Bass Pro Shop in Leeds (10 miles west of Logan) just opened today so you can either go there or Lucky's which is towards Pell City on 431. STAY AWAY FROM THE BIG BULL! Nothing good happens there. If you still there on Sunday, the chinease buffet is the best place to eat in PC
  13. If you leave lakeside and go downriver there are some decent humps and stups that hold fish all year. The water level down there is pretty decent as it is closer to the dam. If you go up river, there is a flat around poorhouse that is good, just watch your electronics. If you choose to go up river at all, make sure you check a map first. It gets really shallow really quick on some of the sand bars. Check out Chocoloca Creek and any grass you might be able to find around there. You might still be able to get them on a swimjig around then
  14. Water Level is low. Def need to get a map and learn the chanel or it will be an ugly experience. Where is he launching out of?
  15. I take my bag as well. I have only fished out of one dual console boat, and didnt have a huge issue. The large majority of boats are single console so... That being said, if I know the guy isnt bs'ing me, I'll bring a day box with what he wants to do, plus one for terminal tackle. Most of that plus your raingear and all will fit in one backpack. Most of the guys that I know who do the weekend series use a bag like that, tops of 5 rods, and a small bag to put in the side storage that has raingear and snacks.
  16. Thats the reason you are not hooking em. A frog requires you to be patient on the hookset. Also, if you miss it, let the frog sit for a little bit and give it a little twitch. Sometimes they will blowup on a frog and then come back after it once it sits "stunned" for a little while
  17. In general you are correct. 24v assumes that you have the batteries wired in series (12+12=24). You can still have two batteries to draw from on a 12v if the batteries are in parallel, allowing you to have extra battery storage for your 12v motor. Whether or not you go to 24v is entirely up to you depending on your boat size, weight, and performance preferences.
  18. No. I used to put mine on my 12' flatbed trailer and just strapped it down
  19. Good and Bad The Bad- EVERYTHING looks good, many many grass mats The Good- Lots of Mats and cover for everyone. Typically if you stay around the creeks that have mats and shoals, you will find fish. Not telling you where they are, just telling you what to look for. I'll be there in March as well.
  20. Wayne, does the H20 give speed info and plot your trail? How, if you do, did you mount it in the boat?
  21. i am looking for a handheld GPS (use for hunting as well as in the boat). Has anyone used these successfully on the water with a decent map system like navionics or anything else? I have great depth finders, just need the GPS for the boat, walking to the treestand, and occasionally for driving.
  22. I read it as you can have aux rear lights, they just cant be used while in foward motion. The ones that I had on my 93 sport were legal, explaining what you saw at Guntersville. I still think its a good idea to have them on a switch so you can shut it on and off for only ramp use.
  23. fastcasterjo You will be fine with bumper, but its a real good idea to get a hitch for many reasons that are listed above. Plus, the explorer bumpers are not known for being the best quality. If you decide to get a hitch, get one from walmart or autozone and put it in yourself. Its four bolts and is made for our vehicles. The only issue you might have is that some of the 16" spare tires will rub the hitch, and a lot of companies say that their hitch wont work with the 16" spare. You can put the hitch on and make the spare fit with a little creative finagleing. Also, remember that Uhaul wont work on an explorer or rent a trailer to them so you cant go there for anything. Also, check out www.explorerforum.com for more info on the hitch install.
  24. Always check your local laws, but I think that since it is a rear facing light, and provided that you are not using it as a diss off light, I think that you are fine. Think about how many Jeeps you see with lights all over them. I am sure that they are not all wired to the high beams since that would melt the entire light harness
