  1. Mid may-june. Last year thats when i found them on the beds, it will change from year to year but mostly this is when theyre out.
  2. good job, i thought it was gonna be a story about some kids that were messing with you. but lets hope they get hooked into fishing.
  3. 1989 Astro Fish and Ski 115hp '81 Merc 18'6"
  4. I have a Shimano crucial 6'8" drop shot rod and I love it, it feels really nice. Also have a casting series of the Avid, its great too, so either of those brands would work just fine.
  5. Carrot flippin stick is on sale at cabelas for $150. I felt the JM rods and i was not to awful shocked, and they just stopped going on sale.
  6. http://www.***.com/catpage-dropshot.html heres a section just for dropshotting, specifically for gulp I would use the circle ones rather than the EWG hooks. These ones are most likely the best http://www.***.com/descpageGAMAKATSUDS-GSS.html. Sorry for adding so much Tackle Warehouse links, they just happen to work so well
  7. I was also looking at that. Although I just bought an Avid and wanna see what else there is out there.
  8. Should look like this. As for hook size #1 or #2. http://www.***.com/guides/dropshot.html Other than that just wiggle it, or dead stick and just let it sit there. let the fish decide. Just pull up right over them and drop the line down. IMO its almost like ice fishing, just a straight vertical technique.
  9. I am looking at a cranking rod, I have heard such great things about the Carrot Stix. But recently came across the tour KVD and it also looks nice, Fuji guides and E-glass. Which do you think would be better for all around cranking, a few deep divers but mostly medium. So if anyone has used the KVD let me know what its like. Same with the E21 cranking series. Thanks, Dylan
  10. Thanks guys, worked great no problems
  11. good job! I was on another forum, and it is nothing like this. Thanks a lot, my bait monkey loves this site, but my wallet hates it
  12. I have been wondering the same thing, I'm sure Reel Mechanic will have the answer for us.
  13. Sounds like a good combo, I just got an Avid and its great, not sure about the Citica, you could also look at the Quantum Energy, it has gotten good reviews. Or a Revo series, either S, SX, or STX, All can be found on ebay for a good price, or check on the forum for good sales. I picked up an STX for $110.
  14. Welcome, I'm from New York too, up in Rochester. And Ik what you mean about the St Lawrence, o man smallies love it up there, Can't wait till we get a tourny up there some year. What lakes do you primarily fish?
  15. You know its weird, I have been living in Rochester my whole life and only went to Gander Mountain once for a knife. Good thing its not closing, I should really start to shop there a little more
  16. Tell me about it, if you order a $200 reel its $15 for shipping, but it can be shipped for $5. Looks like a scam to me. Ill stick with TW for big items and only buy bps if I am in store or I have a gift card.
  17. True, but IMO better reels will be more user friendly.
  18. Nice looking fish. Always good to catch some fish after a cold front
  19. Congrats, look like some nice fish
  20. Suffix all the way. Just bought power pro on sale and to me it feels stiff, i could bend it and it would stay kinked. Was not impressed, suffix is nice and limp also strong. Also lasts a long time.
  21. I disagree, light braid is terrible. IMO. The wind takes the line everywhere, and it gets tangled around the rod so easily.
  22. Welcome For that price range, you can find Citica E's and revo s'. I have heard great things about both these reels. Also quantum Accurist on ebay, just got one and it seems really nice (havent done much fishing with it yet).
