  1. Colors: Clear water go with Green Pumpkin or Watermelon. Darker water go with Black/Blue or Junebug. Whatever it is supposed to imitate, bass love it. Swim it, jig it, crawl it, it's killer.
  2. Senko followed closely by Swimbaits.
  3. Man. it was so long ago. I think it was a Hula-Popper. Or a Mepps.
  4. LAYERS. Start with good long johns and shirt. And a good quality Cold Weather/Rain suit. Frogg Toggs are good and affordable: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10204962_625011000_625000000_625011000_625-11-0 http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10204963_625011000_625000000_625011000_625-11-0
  5. Strike King Rage Shad. Flat out catches fish. Casts easy. Great action. Fun to watch. Like fishing a buzzbait where you never thought you could. Did I mention it catches fish.
  6. X3. Also, stick a Strike King 3X or Z-Man trailer on any jig and it will float up to some extent.
  7. X2. They tend to lose the salt content after being chewed on a bit and start to float. Until then, great bait. Sink rate about the middle of the pack, but great for wacky rigging as they won't tear off the hook as easy.
  8. Bomber Fat Free Shad BD6 or 7F and Switchback Shad. Strikeking Series 6. Bandit 400 and 700. Bagley DB3 (if you can find them). Haven't tried DT's but will this spring. Good luck Kent.
  9. JJ's is definitely the most potent but can ruin clothes and sense of smell. Chompers garlic is also pretty strong but does not carry a HAZ-MAT warning on the label. Lasts pretty long too. (not as long as JJ's)
  10. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All! May the coming year be your best ever. Russ, you're not short. Just vertically challenged.
  11. Never had an issue in the store. In fact quite the opposite. Online I have had a problem or two but they were always resolved to more than my satisfaction. I don't order from them online anymore as there are 2 in my area now. Like everyone else says, use Tackle Warehouse for online.
  12. Al Lindner. He grew up in my neck of the woods fishing the same waters I fish. I won the northern region catch and release bass several years ago with a 23 1/2 incher and he personally wrote me a letter saying he was glad to see the lake I caught it from was still producing lunkers. I've chatted briefly with him at a few shows but would love to sit down with him. A true pioneer.
  13. The Cubs will win the world series. :D
  14. First - Myself through trial and error and alot of experimentation. (my dad got me started but he was more of a panfish guy at the time) Second - through the recommendations of shows like Bassmaster, In-Fisherman and Angling Edge etc. Shows that actually take the time to explain how the fish were caught on specific baits at specific times of year and not just showing the angler catching 2 fish out of a private pond. Last but not least- advice from the many knowledgeable anglers on this site. A wealth of information is at your fingertips. Literally.
  15. CWB replied to zero's topic in Fishing Tackle
    Never used the 3" but on the 4", a 2/0 - 3/0 Thinwire EWG works fine. I would try a 1/0 or possibly 2/0 for t-rigging.
  16. I think those chairs outside were all messed up. Lean back too far and over you go! I almost went over myself. You forgot to mention the most important part. Not a drop of beer was spilled. (No he wasn't hammered, it was his first of the night before dinner. Equipment malfunction) I do think someone out there has a picture of this for blackmail purposes though. Just kidding.
  17. WTG! That's it. I'm moving to Florida.
  18. Like Senko_77 says, it depends on the bait. Usually no more than 4-5 colors for each bait but different colors for different types of baits. Flukes etc. I stay with shad and baby bass type colors. Senkos- green pumpkin, pumpkin chart tip, watermelon and black with some type of blue in it. Toad type baits- chart., black/blue white/shad and my favorite Ragetail Shad in blue glimmer. Use what you have confidence in and don't go overboard.
  19. At least the wine box didn't break! ;D I had 2 pieces of Wayne's fantastic steroid injected (Huge) chicken and lived to tell about it and fish the next day without any emergency trips to shore. Now the pancakes at the marina- that's another story. Uncle Leo can attest to that.
  20. I didn't like them much either. Strike King Shadalicious 4.5" is one of my go to baits.
  21. Strike King's Pure Poison have worked well for me.
  22. Owner followed by Gammy for most situations and Gammy Superline for froggin' and ragin' in the slop.
  23. Much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree with Mike. ;D 99.9% of what you're reading here is B.S and kidding around. As FF15 said, moderation. Besides, who wants to go fishing with a hangover. This will be my second trip and I can assure you that Mike was not the only one to hit the hay by 10:00. Most guys called it a day early and hit the water pretty early. I got to know alot of great people at the last trip and hope to meet more at this one.
  24. Wow. There were people falling out of chairs drinking just wine and beer last year. This year ought to be a hoot. Kelley- Remember. Don't drink and drive (the boat). It sounds like the fishing will start at the crack of noon this time around. You'd better bring a barrel of the stuff Wayne. Sounds like you've wetted a few people's appetites. Watch out for old Buford T. Justice on the way!
