  2. I go a couple of ways here - either a glass rod & braid or a graphite stick & mono. Seems to me they both work out the same. A-Jay

  9. Nice Job - sounds like a good time. A 3lber on 6lb line is pretty sporting; especially around docks. A-Jay

  11. This is such a touching story, I thought you would enjoy it. A-Jay The Last Kiss Back on January 9th, a group of Pekin , Illinois bikers were riding west on I-74 when they saw a girl about to jump off the Murray Baker Bridge. So they stopped. George, their leader, a big burly man of 53, gets off his Harley, walks through a group of gawkers, past the State Trooper who was trying to talk her down off the railing, and says, "Hey Baby..... whatcha doin' up there on that railin'?" She says tearfully, "I'm going to commit suicide!" While he didn't want to appear 'sensitive', George also didn't want to miss this 'be-a-legend' opportunity either so he asked..."Well, before you jump, Honey-Babe... Why don't you give ole George here your best last kiss?" So, with no hesitation at all, she leaned back over the railing and did just that.... And it was a long, deep, lingering kiss followed immediately by another even better one. After they breathlessly finished, George gets a big thumbs-up approval from his biker-buddies, the onlookers, and even the State Trooper, and then says, "Wow! That was the best kiss I have ever had, Honey! That's a real talent you're wasting, Sugar Shorts. You could be famous if you rode with me. Why the heck are you committing suicide?" "My parents don't like me dressing up like a girl." It's still unclear whether he jumped or was pushed.

  16. Try a line (or Leader) in the 4 or 6lb class. A 6" to 10" dropped is good. Make long casts - and try fishing the rig like it was live bait. In other words, don't do anything with it - let the bait fish itself; Just cast it out, let it set, move a few feet, let it sit, move it a few feet, let it sit & so on back to the boat. And one final tip and this one is money - Use a nose hooked, curly tail, 4 inch Berkley Power worm - in Green Pumpkin with the tail dipped Chartreuse. You'll be glad you did. Good Luck A-Jay
  17. Matching the hook size to the plastic is especially crucial when rigging fluke style baits. I like EWG here in both weightless and weighted versions. 4/0 for the 5.25" Super Fluke & 6/0 for 7" Magnum Fluke. Other factors that will come into play besides the already mentioned rod used are type / size of line, and the size (gauge wire) of your hook. You can use spinning tackle here but it helps if you're using braid and a thinner wire hook- not something you want to do in and around mid to dense cover of any kind. It does work well for schooling fish in fairly open water. A-Jay
  18. Perhaps it's all about perspective. Seems you've managed to find out what works - you're done. Welcome to "The Summer Pattern" Congrats A-Jay

  20. With so many variables that are dependent on your local and the water your fishing, what you're asking can't really be answered or explained sufficiently ns a couple of sentences to put you on fish The fact that you're able to get off the bank in your kayak is a good thing. I really recommend you do a little reading from this link; http://www.bassresource.com/seasonal-fishing-articles#summer Good Luck A-Jay
  21. Update ~ I've got the Bullnose rudder mounted on a Minn Kota 55 on the transom. (boat pic below) I'm happy with it's performance so far. Not a super dramatic difference in handling of my particular vessel. However, the boat does track better on a straight line and responds faster to turns. I believe when it's mounted on a smaller &/or lighter vessel, the rudder's affects would be more apparent. Like I said - nothing but good so far. A-Jay
  22. Perhaps you just haven't fished from the right canoe yet. A-Jay
  23. Yes Sir - We both learned from The Master . . . . . A-Jay You've got that right - it's called patience. The woman can make 1 cast with a Senko last 30 minutes ! A-Jay
