  1. Tighten your spool tension so there is no playback & forth with spool in the reel frame. When the spool is 'floating' around in a casting reel to make reeling easier, it rarely gets an even, tight & proper line lay. A-Jay
  2. Doesn't have a name really - My wife calls it the A-Jay rig. A-Jay
  3. Essentially this is a "light weight" punch rig. I fish it like a Texas Rig- just has a skirt included. Been fishing it effectively for a long time. I made this video 12 years ago. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/BOSS_Lead_Punch_Hub_10pk_/descpage-BOSSLDHUB.html?from=basres https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/search-tackle.html?start=0&count=20&searchtext=parasite+clip A-Jay
  4. I am glad I was able to upgrade my Helix units when I did. Just basic units no mega or live and I am still using the original 360. Been happy with their performance so far. Still, i wouldn't want to be messing with that deal now as the Proprosed Prices of these newest units seem disproportionately high. A-Jay
  5. This is true. But I never said I did. Just wait until the big casting reel sell off this spring. #epic A-Jay
  6. Neither or both ~ I like to catch long fat bass. A-Jay
  7. What are you smoking ? I guess you don't remember how many 7's 8's 9's 10's 11' and 12 lb bass we've caught there . . . So you're kidding right ? We even got 6 over 10 lb in one trip ! https://youtu.be/UYTzJHDCdMo?feature=shared A-Jay
  8. Depends if your trousers are intact or if you're using FFS or not ~ I'm the funniest guy I know. A-Jay
  9. I had a swing & a miss myself. Sadly I'm still paying that one. A-Jay
  10. Yea, sorry about that. Wasn't trying to derail the thread, but it's the first thing that came to mind. I'm just your basic knucklehead. So that's a big win for me. Especially since I don't really get many. But this one time, I parked my truck in the garage, and didn't even crash it. 🤓 A-Jay
  11. Smartest move I will ever make. And the luckiest. #manofgenius A-Jay
  12. Always ~ It's a profile deal for me. A-Jay
  13. Oh yes it is ! That train left the station while Eddie Murphy was playing Gumby on SNL. A-Jay
  14. It's a Castle Craft trailer I purchased at the same time I ordered the canoe in 2009. Model SUT 220-S price has doubled since I got this one. Decent unit. A-Jay http://www.castlecraft.com/canoe_trailer.htm
  15. I got that as well. But what's a "Retired Rod" ? I'm retired and ain't no one buying me . . . . A-Jay
  16. I am a fan of St Croix rods. I own and enjoy fishing several different lines of their sticks. However, my experience with the (now discontinued) Tidemaster Inshore Travel casting Rods a few years back on Lake Baccarac was less than positive. I think the final count was 6, at least one of which was not even mine. All blew up on a seemingly harmless hookset. Boom. St Croix took care of them all and I traded them in for sticks I could use state side. A-Jay
  17. Workout Day 2 today. I went into this one feeling uncharacteristically flat. I hate it but I didn't let it keep me from putting in the work. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  18. https://bullnoseproducts.com/products/bullnose-rudder?srsltid=AfmBOopi7C-gpkXHOW5ZCWKnMdb1-9R1JclJxDiYSV3cizcIWjnt5T5G I've been using this Bull Nose rudder on my canoe for over 10 years now. Works well. Can't really see it in this pic, sorry. A-Jay
  19. For whatever reason, besides replenishing some plastics and terminal tackle, ALL of my 'need' items are eternally on the 'some restrictions apply' list. And "Clearance items", they all just need to go ahead and give that stuff away as well as throwing in 20 bucks for pain & suffering. All Except for the Pink Bubba Grip tape. You know I gotta have me some of that ! A-Jay
  20. This winter started off with record snowfall here. My wife shot this video of Tank & Kya making the most of it. A-Jay

  22. Well I'm at least 1,000 miles north of you and up here once there's open water, anything below 38-ish is cold. 40-42 is cool. And 44-54 is Hammer time. In the fall the entire process goes in reverse. Polar Fleece is my friend. #dressinlayers A-Jay
  23. If we're referring to Advantages as conditions or factors that enhance my ability to achieve success, which in my case means staying safe, having fun and catching a few big brown bass while doing it, then this is what I've got. Desire, commitment & determination. Experience has shown me that it takes what it takes. The only question is am I willing to do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes. That can and does come in many different forms. It's always a test/battle of wills between me, the elements, father time & the bass themselves. Over the years we take turns winning & losing. If disadvantages in fishing refers to the unfavorable conditions or obstacles that reduce the chances of my success, deals that impose challenges and require extra effort to overcome. Or might be complete out of my control. There's plenty of those. Don't feel the need to make a 'list'. Instead I just say IME, Life is the Ultimate challenge. Whether I'm fishing or not. When such a small percentage of my time is spent 'actually fishing', seems not doing whatever I can to prepare & to set myself up for success before I get on the water, would be a distinct disadvantage for me and a big advantage for the bass. Stay Safe. A-Jay
  24. That pretty much says it all. Nice bass too. Congrats on a killer day as well as the impending new human. A-Jay
