  1. If we're talking soft plastics, I can easily make this far more complicated than it probably actually is. However after listening to Mr Hackney, who seems to sum it all up rather nicely, I go this way now. https://youtu.be/maYOGh4-eP4 A-Jay
  2. Hate extra fast sticks. Hate them. In fact there's probably going to be a few available in the flea market this winter. Combined with super fast reels, might be half the reason for many of the I LOST A BIG Bass threads. I fish my style. Not right, not wrong. Just works for me. A-Jay
  3. Not sure what type of insect or spider might have ventured up there. But I'd be trimming a little length of something foam to temporarily 'pug' it between trips. Goes in when I pull the boat and comes out before I back down the ramp. Think foam ear plug, half way sticking out for you convenience. A-Jay
  4. I do have a preferred appearance preference. However as stated here several times already, performance plays a role in what I use as well. Regardless of looks, I don't fish anything that doesn't do a job for me. So I have some sticks that I really like the looks of and a few that I don't actually love but their 'performance' trumps the appearance. I have an affinity for quality cork handles; fore and full rear ends. Also enjoy the Xtreme-Skin handles St Croix uses on the Extreme line and used to use on the Rage rods line (which is what I have). Not a giant fan of foam or split grips but I fish them. The guide train needs to be decent quality and correctly spaced to allow for a smooth transition down the entire length of the blank. Price point does not make a rod look any better or worse to me. Additionally, I am quite a bit less interested in the 'technology' that companies are putting into (or at least advertising) blanks these days. As long as it's got some freaking bend parabolic action and not a pool cue, I can at least give it a look. "Sensitivity", IME is a user based deal. I prefer to get the job done in the lower/middle price range. IMO, the point at which I reach the law of diminishing returns on rods happens pretty quick. Finally, one of my favorite sticks of all time is a G. Loomis Travel rod. No longer in production. @Dwight Hottle turned me on to that gem. I have two left. Landed quite a few giants for me. A-Jay
  5. No doubt a Trophy in Training. A-Jay
  6. After a couple of off days, which included a nice morning on the water yesterday, I was back in the home gym. Pull 2 and I trained without music for this one. Helps me focus and provides some purpose. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  7. Took a flyer on a couple of Daiwa Tatula Elite Casting Reels 6.3:1 to use on single hook moving baits. They both showed up mostly "dry". Meaning very little in the way of lube, grease & or bearing oil. Not sure if this is a common Diawa deal as I don't own many. Either way, after cracking them open and giving them some TLC, I am Very Pleased. Right size, smooth on the cast, powerful on the retrieve, good line capacity and I like the handle & knobs. I'd recommend this one. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa_Tatula_Elite_Casting_Reel/descpage-DTEC.html A-Jay

  10. No. But I have an idea that for me quality trumps quanity almost every time. A-Jay
  11. I do not miss meals and try to always stay hydrated. so I always have Bottled water, protein and cliff bars, some type of flat bread sandwiches usually chicken, and if I'm extra good, a bag of lucky cookies. It's all on the pre launch checklist. ? A-Jay
  12. Strike King's stuff takes up the most space in my rig. Hard, soft & wire baits. A-Jay
  13. Back at it and I was still feeling that last leg day which was interesting. But not near enough of an excuse to skip this training. Might take an extra off day though. Either way, grinders gotta grind. #borninfiftynine A-Jay

  16. Visited Lynn this morning. Been just over 2 weeks now. Quite a bit has happened. Tests, c-scans, biopsies, transfusions, staggering amount of medications and thankfully some very attentive care from folks who I could never thank enough. But finally, there's the tiniest of signs that she's 'healing'. First time I didn't cry on the ride home, so that's good too. So we're at least trending in the right direction. Still a ways to go to get her home again, but at this point we'll take it. Thank You ALL for the positive thoughts. Stay Safe & Healthy A-Jay
  17. Wrapping the trash up like this and putting it to the curb is almost always good for a few laughs . . . . A-Jay
  18. If I'm throwing a Senko locally, either the fish catching expectations is at an all time low or I've been struck directly in the head by something very large. Or perhaps both. So me then. A-Jay

That's no good. Looking forward to your addition to the "Who's drinking tonight" thread. Hope you're OK. A-Jay
  20. Nice. Muskies on a crankbait. Bet that's no fun at all ! Congrats ? A-Jay
  21. Hammered out a Leg workout this morning. Only performed three lifts. I feel like I got out of this one exactly what I put into it. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  22. For the 10 or so years I was a canoe only basshead, I think I caught the same bass twice on a couple of different lakes. Can't be totally sure though and I certainly wasn't trying to do it. However I am certain there's a few fish I've only caught once that I would really like to catch at least one more time. A-Jay
  23. And while you're at it, you could grow some mushrooms . . . . . A-Jay
  24. MLF has officially jumped the shark. A-Jay
