Big-uns!
April & May and August & September have given up the largest Brown Bass for me. The inland lakes of northern lower Michigan are mostly fairly fertile. Some with goby, some without. Here's a few ~ Fish Hard A-Jay

I'm going to work some exercise into my fishing.
I don't exercise while I fish and I don't fish when I exercise. For me the two are separate and will mostly likely never come together. Not saying it's not a thing, just not for me. A healthy diet & regular exercise IMO is & will always be the way to go. There's a lot of ways to achieve this depending on ones needs & goals. That list in probably on the infinite scale. I say pick something and stick with it. Modify as needed. Staying lean, having decent balance & flexibility as well as at least average strength is and will always be important to me. Enough so that when I retired I added a home gym. Resistance training helps with the attributes listed above and has been part of my entire adult life and still is at 62. The 'latest research' is hard to keep up with and even harder to know what's actually beneficial. I keep it super simple & basic. Whole & natural foods work well for me. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/198637-working-to-stay-lean-~/?do=findComment&comment=2841041 A-Jay

Introducing the Newest Member of Our Pack ~
Exactly ~ Sort of a must to keep the northern breeds (Huskies and Malamutes) in shape and happy off season. But Bike Joring can be a great way to get a canine ALL the exercise they need. Plus I could never run as fast or for as long as Tank for instance. So he can really let loose and all I need to do is hold on. The sled dogs are on a whole different level. It's a great bonding tool/time and is especially valuable when fostering. Definitely a learning curve. A tired dog is a happy and balanced dog. A-Jay

Fishing for a Mental State
I'm at my best when I can 'Fish Free'. Meaning I'm not leaving a list of deals unfinished so I can fish. Having my poop in a group before I leave allows me to think about what I'm doing on the water and not what's waiting for me when I get home. It's a balancing act for sure. A-Jay

securing rods in a canoe/kayak
Thanks - No Change - rod holder is mounted on the left (port) side I fish from the back of the canoe exclusively. A-Jay

Anyone use quantum smoke s3 pt baitcaster?
Perhaps the bearings are little dry. A drop of bearing oil might quiet things down . . . . I use either of these products A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Still thumping down the come back trail ~ After an off day yesterday, where I actually got out and caught a few fish (walleye sandwiches), I was back in the home gym this morning. Hammered out (relative term) some decent leg training. I'll be rolling a 3 - Day Double Split routine (below) at least until August or so. Day's off come after every 3 workouts. Takes about 60 minutes with a thorough warm up in advance of every training session. A Full Body Routine usually shown up next. A-Jay

Hydration
Good Reminder @Mobasser I drink H20 when on the water and try to keep myself hydrated all the time. Helps prevent all kinds of not so nice deals. And while it doesn't get Africa Hot here, not being properly hydrated can get sketchy. When we know we're going to be on the water for a while, proper hydration really starts the day before, and then simply keep it going. Regardless of the season, but especially in the hot sunny weather. Stay Safe A-Jay

Generational fishing
I get it but I think you know where I'm coming from. We all have a line. In the previous response here I was all about just going with the flow. But this type deal crosses my own line and that's the basis for my response. If it where my Dad, he'd know way before now what I was about. And I'm like you, I take care of and use my gear but don't abuse it. It would be up to him to conduct himself one way or the other. My own son is 36 and you can bet he knows what I'm about. Sadly, he doesn't live locally but fished with me when he did. I'm finished here and do sincerely hope you guys work it out. A-Jay

Generational fishing
I like we circle back on stuff ~ Right off the bat and I'm not pulling any punches here. Your Dad sounds like piece of work. Deliberately disrespecting someone else's gear (son or not) is just bogus. Who the heck steps on the seat ? Is he just looking for ways to trip your trigger ? This deal requires Zero explanation, for a mature human. Perhaps next time you go with him (if you chose to have a next time) take the whole freaking seat out in advance. At this point I might not be taking the man out anymore. Too Much Drama. But I'd be sure to send him plenty of pictures of my catch though. Wonder how he'd feel about you making a fecal deposit in his live well ? Sort of the same thing. Good Luck A-Jay

High Pressured Bass Spots - Be Different!
Last Hi-Jack. Thanks. Standing Pat is the plan - Have some $$$ spread out that will take at least a year to clear. So all of this is waiting not so patiently on 'the back burner' as they say. A-Jay

Weedless Nose-Hooked Flukes?
Sorry No info on that hook - I fish mostly in open water or above the cover with this deal. btw - consider adding this Owner product to your nose hooked fluke rig. You'll be glad you did . . . https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Owner_CPS_Centering_Pin_Spring/descpage-OCPSS.html A-Jay

High Pressured Bass Spots - Be Different!
@Big Rick Dude ! I know you're right. And you know I know. The Boat Monkey has been riding me Hard for a while now. I have the original 360 which doesn't mount easily to the new motor so I'd need to address that as well $$$$$$$ The way I see it I have at least three options. Stand Pat. Replace/Update the entire electronics package including the Trolling motor. Or - Go for the whole enchilada and trade this rig in for new. Oh My. Mrs. A-Jay (who is my financial advisor) might not be very keen on that last one right there. Time will tell. A-Jay

Randy Blaukst Spinning rods for jerkbaits I no longer feel like I lost it
I throw jerkbaits at brown bass on both casting & spinning gear. However, I will say that I chose spinning gear more than half the time. I use light braid & a FC or Mono leader here. Just feels right to me and I manage to get a few. I do prefer to run/point my right index finger down the rod handle and use it to help work/brace the blank in my hand while working the bait. Can't see the finger thing here but this is what working a jerkbait on spinning gear look like when I do it. Hope it helps https://youtu.be/o9xew3tWuuU?t=52 A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
@12poundbass Thanks Jeremy ~ We're both good. Ran an at home Covid test (From the CDC) on Lynn yesterday. She's negative - seems my self imposed "quarantine" worked. I'm back to eating & training and I'll get a video up in a bit. Need some time to get back in The Groove. But it's not too far away, thankfully. Stay Safe my friend. A-Jay
