  1. Thanks ~ Besides slicing & dicing anything in it's path, comes in very handing if & when I need to "Repel all Boarders !" A-Jay
  2. This is me as well. Happens to spinnerbaits, vibrating jigs and most anything I throw that has a silicone or rubber skirt. One clean cut. Almost always made to simply shorten the skirt. Desire resulting length to be at or just slightly beyond the hook bend. A-Jay
  3. Nicely Done ~ The correct size & type of fuses and shear pins are a Total Trip Saver when we have them. And pretty much a trip killer when we don't. You Da man ! A-Jay
  4. B.A.S.S. is not streaming the Southern Open at Kissimmee Chain LIVE. They are showing the weigh-ins and there's a link to a Basstrakk https://www.bassmaster.com/basstrakk/tournaments/2022-bassmaster-southern-open-kissimmee-chain A-Jay
  5. Survival gear. I don't go on the water without it. In particular, bigger water. A-Jay
  6. Not sure. Also while Black Friday was the time frame for my purchase, like you noted, it seems Simms gear is rarely 'on sale'. I initially thought my purchase was on sale, ended up being the MSRP. I was happy however to find a vendor up north here that was actually able to get me a set in a 'medium'. I had been 'looking' hard for a few months up to that point, and it wasn't look good. Not sure what the current supply lines look like. https://thousandlakessports.com/ A-Jay
  7. My Insulated guidewear has seen better days as well. Most relegated as 'take the dogs out' gear now. Over Black Friday I scored a Simms Challenger Insulated Fishing Jacket & Bib Set. Really nice, a little pricey but I'm pretty sure it will be most awesome. Can't wait to try it on the water. If you're shopping for one, I'd consider it A-Jay
  8. Looks like a separate purchase ~ https://www.froggtoggs.com/co-pilot-insulated-puff-jacket A-Jay
  9. 22 degrees below zero this morning. Seat heated in the GMC is working some OT. A-Jay
  10. It takes a decent chunk of time for females to grow the eggs. Accordingly, I've kept & eaten a few different species of fish (don't eat bass) that were not actively spawning but still loaded with eggs. Some folks chow hard on the egg sack. I'm not one of them, but as I understand, it's quite a delicacy depending on the fish. A-Jay
  11. Fish Catch Friday ~ (OK it's really still only Thursday night but I'm on the road most of tomorrow) Cast to Catch ~ This fatty ended up being my best Brown Bass of 2020 8 weeks 4 days & a wake up. A-Jay
  12. Not sure ~ I use one of these for most of my needs A-Jay
  13. Lipless baits have flat sides And they work great at that water temp & depth A-Jay
  14. I had that deal going on last week (I'm on a PC) but it has mysteriously 'fixed' itself. When does that ever happen. A-Jay
  15. Hello Rick and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  16. LOL ~ I hear ya about load distribution. My vote goes for Mid ships and along the centerline. Configure everything else around that. Good Luck A-Jay
  17. Looking Good @T-Billy Bet you're anticipating the maiden voyage. Keep that heater on high. A-Jay

  19. @Catch-A-Dream Hi Marty, Thank you very much for including the video link. Outstanding. A-Jay
  20. Pretty sure we all have 'our own individual way' of measuring bass fishing success. Certain that varies wildly between bassheads. So there might not really be an accurate way of projecting my version of it onto any one else. Either way, the A-Jay version of true measure of success, only happens a few times each season. And I'm OK with that. It's when I find myself in the right place, at the right time and doing the Right thing. And it has to equate to trophy brown bass; at least one anyway. When this doesn't happen, I do not consider that time a failure, per se. Instead it's merely a stepping stone. Just one more day closer to the parade. Because as long as I keep my head down and fish hard, it's just a matter of time. btw @Mobasser You Sir are on a roll ! A-Jay
  21. Dirty Jigs Tactical Bassin' Finesse Swimbait Jig Head, VMC Boxer Jig Head and VMC Flat Shad Jig Head IME ~ and as a general rule, the softer the bait, the more the boot tail will move and at a slower speed. Durability usually suffers but I may get more bites if & when slow is the deal. I almost always want & need the bait to 'have good action' (or swim) every time I kill it and allow it to fall back to the bottom. Either on a slack or especially on a tight line. That said, the jighead weight (line / leader size and the hook wire gauge to some extent) play a few roles here. I'm always looking for the right 'match'. Casting distance, rate of fall and how it swims (as noted above) can all be dictated by the type of plastic (softness), and the size of the boot tail as compared to the weight of the jig head. Too light and the bait/tail has nothing to 'push against' and to heavy a head can over power the bait completely. When I get it right, the jighead will act as the perfect counter balance for the bait & the tail, which will enable the swimbait to have that tail thump and THE SHIMMY, which often times is the magic sauce.
